Hey Swiss! ❤ Maker of that QantasLink livery here. I was so shocked to see you using my livery! I never expected me to be connected to one of your videos, but I’m so glad to see you using my livery! I made it to pay tribute to the 717, and I’m glad that you helped its popularity. Thank you so much! ❤❤

Also I flew on the MD-80 when American still operated it back in 2011 when I was like 9. Little did I know that would be the last time I flew. Always wanted to get back on it again but idk if that’ll be possible and I’ve always loved it.
I also flew on the md-80 before it got retired
I have been in the QantasLink 717 once and it was cool. Grateful that I got to go on it before it was retired in Australia. By insane luck the Boeing actually survived the flight.
I kinda wish I got the chance to ride in one. Did see them at the airport, but that's it.
Hawaiian Airlines, is still flying them between the Islands all day! Also Hawaiian has not ordered a replacement yet.
I flew on one of these a few weeks ago on delta from DCA in Washington DC to DTW in Detroit, it is a really fun plane to fly on
The 717 was the first plane I ever flew in as a kid, sad times indeed.
The 727 in the mid 80s was my first aircraft I flew on as a kid, been hooked on aviation ever since.
I've never ever flew in a airplane but I still like planes lol
same
2:24captain sim always cooks with their airplanes 🗿🍷

Bro in Nigeria MD-80 was operated in Nigeria until April 2024 when it's operator Dana air was shutdown for safety concerns. Even b737-300/400/500 are still very much active in Nigeria today
I miss the good old days when airlines used to have more variety back in the '80s, '90s and Early 2000s.
It was the final, not-a-bang-but-a-whimper evolution of the DC-9. You know, I flew on DC-9s many a time, and various MD-80 family, but I'm not sure I ever did fly on a 717. The MD-80 and MD-90 were stretched out but I guess the 717 brought it back down to a size closer to the original DC-9.
I literally fly on this plane on November 6th. I’m lucky I live nearby Delta HQ and I’m glad they still fly them!
Im 16 and i flew the md11 with klm on there last flight from Montreal to Amsterdam. Such a nice plane
Qantas also likes to use the B717 to transport miners to different locations across Western Australia.
I just flew on a Delta 717 into my home town of TLH back in June of this year and it's probably going to be my last time on one ever. Pretty sad.
I flew on a Delta 717 for the first time last month out of Mobile Alabama, and I have to say, I was pleasantly surprised at how nice of a ride it was. It was as smooth as any 737-800 or 900 I've flown on. I highly recommend it if you've never had the experience!
swiss 9 face reveal before GTA 6 🔥🔥🗣️🗣️
Not only has Hawaiian not ordered the A220, they haven’t even decided on which plane will replace the 717. The current candidate are the A220, Embraer E2 and 737 MAX 7. I think it’s very safe to say they’ll be around much longer than 2025.
Not to mention, Delta just announced they're going to cut CRJ-900 usage for 717s...further justifying that the 717 won't be retired completely anytime soon.
Well it’s true they could change their retirement plans. But both airlines did report this year that their 717s were not going to stick around for very long.
@@Swiss001yooo sup swiss
I actually got to fly on the 717-200 with Qantas once because my flight home was cancelled (they put me on a Qantas flight instead of just not caring)
3:34 Qantas has had their A220's for a while now
I flew on a Boeing 717 on Airtran back in 2013, it was an alright aircraft, though it helped that we were flying in their business class which had larger seats
I’m 23 and always have been an airplane and airliner enthusiast for the better part of 20 years of my life . I sadly have never gotten to fly on this 717 , Md80/83 or a 727 . I love these plane that have this exact specific design 💯‼️ I’m sad I’ve never got to experience being on these planes and or I haven’t even seen them in person like up close . I see them all the time here in Orlando fly over the house or I’d drive around the airport and see them from a distance 💯
But sadly rip the BOEING 717 PLANE BUT IM HAPPY FOR THESE PLANES FOR BEING ABLE TO ENJOY THEIR RETIREMENT 💯‼️🔥
Flew on a 717 from MSP to ORD and it was the loudest most uncomfortable plane I've been on 😂
I flew on the 717 once and that was a flight from KCAE-KATL on my way to San Antonio it honestly wasn't a bad flight it was just short so I don't remember much from it
I’ve actually been on a Delta 717 this summer. It was pretty cool. It was my first narrow body plane.
4:37 another Aerosucre takeoff
The most UNDERRATED Boeing aircraft
Oh these are definitely gonna end up in Venezuela once they’re retired, we’re still flying MD-80s & 737-200s here.
The fifth oldest airliner does it last flight:
Swiss: Ok
QantasLink retires 717 and now only 2 airlines have it:
Swiss: NOOO
I mean, wth would he talk about czech airlines? Yeah, it's an important event but 717 makes a better video
2:03 99+ missed calls from QantasLink Flight 1737
The 717 is a Douglas plane. It was originally designed and marketed as the MD-95. It was rebranded as the Boeing 717 after the McDonnell Douglas/Boeing merger in 1997. Think Bombardier/A220, a Bombardier product but was rebranded after the program's acquisition by Airbus. The 717 was originally going to be the same length as the DC-9-32 (119ft, 4in) but was lengthened slightly to 124ft as the request of launch customer AirTran. The wing is almost identical to that of the DC-9-30 series, but incorporates some improved high lift devices from the MD-80 series wings. some sources say the 717's wings are actually just the outer portions of the MD-80 wing structure, I'm not 100% sure. What I can tell you is that the 717 is essentially a modernized DC-9.
atl-mlb is always full on delta. DL has a bunch of other routes similar where the 717 is a good fit. The 100 seat aircraft is quite a large market in the US.
I flew on the Boeing 717 not long ago when I was on a short layover to Huntsville Alabama.
717 I guess is the top rated airline in Swiss 001 approved list . And it’s never lost a single door
Swiss geht wieder ab diggi. Hast gute Ideen für Unterhaltung, mach weiter so.
RIP Boeing 717 . Perhaps hopefully Captain Sim's 717 legacy lives on with the A320 avionics and physics installed in the MSFS 2020 and upcoming 2024 lol 😂❤
I’m lucky enough to be on this plane on my flight to Japan in January. I’ll be flying on the 717 from Philadelphia to Detroit
I remember I was on a Delta 717 when I was about 11 years old. I don’t remember much about unfortunately
Swiss always teaches me something new every video. I had no idea that MD was owned by Boeing! Thank you😊😊
How nice that this adopted child (MD95 turned 717) is being replaced with another adopted child (CS300 turned A220-300)
Funnily enough Qantas had to reactivate one due to A220 issues. Currently VH-YQW is the only flying Qantas 717 that is still operating scheduled services.
Delta still flies this is Houston, even scored some pics, man I love hou and iah
i’ve flown on the hawaiian airlines one a year ago, and i loved it!

What about the last Czech Airlines Flight???
Maybe he dont even know Czech Airlines exist 😓

@@Pkos_001aand how do you know?
I have once seen a Delta airlines Boeing 717 takeoff from KCMH, it resembles the Douglas DC-9 so much when I first saw it I actually thought that’s what it was
I did my work experience with qantas link when they were replacing these with a220s, great experience
i’ve been onto a 717, from KATL to KBUF, delta
I'm getting on one of Delta's 717s at the end of November before they retire them in December of 2025
I flew on the QLK B717-200 back in 2016 and yeah she was definitely a beautiful aircraft to fly on, little rocket ship she was! 😢😢
Truly sad to know, but I've been on a Delta Air Lines Boeing 717-200 last year, and it was a really pleasant flight experience.
*UPDATE YOUR 717 DAMNIT.*
You should be at least glad that the avionics got updated and are more realistic.
Also, I would suggest turning off cockpit alarms being audible from the outside.
Hah thats funny i only just found out about the 717 (not really i think i just forgot it existed) yesterday, & you have made a video on it today, cool!
8:06 And we got a hot air balloon going 400kts.
Flew on this last year with delta, it’s tiny but mighty, it braked so hard I was sliding out of my seat!
sounded fun!
I am 10, when I was 9, I saw 2 717’s, they looked beautiful but so sad that it’s retired 😢
As someone who has been flying on the 717 by Hawaiian Air to go island hoping, with also the dreams of becoming a pilot for the 717 unfortunately cannot be fulfilled. But I’m looking forward for at least the Embraer E2 as it hopes to count as a regional air so I can stay and work as a pilot in Hawaii rather than working at SkyWest in the U.S. but nothing wrong with it, just want to stay working here at my home place ❤
You can fly an md-82 in xplane 12, relatively similar
Speaking of retired airplanes, I flew a Virgin Atlantic A340 in 2015. I know they aren’t fully retired (thanks Lufthansa) but there’s definitely a lot less compared to back in the day, and Virgin Atlantic doesn’t fly them anymore
I was on a 717 last year, it's kind of sad to see this plane go
I really love the 717
Flying this over Christmas, I’ve flown a few Maddogs so it will probably be my last of the maddogs.
Because of the reliability issues the A220 is having, Delta is actually planning on keeping the 717s going until 2030.
New Swiss001 mission; fly to Honolulu Hawaii to sit in a 717😂😮
I wish for a good 717 for us MSFS flyers one day-and I still enjoy what TFDI brought to P3D!
Bong 717 vs McDonalds 80 would be fire battle
0:13 Exactly a decade later, bye Czech airlines.
I personally love the 717 it was the last plane I flew on with my grandfather before he passed
The 717 is the Boeing version of the A220
Similarities: Both “adopted child” planes
Differences: 717 better
flew on a hawaiian airlines flight a few years back, pretty cool and nice plane!
I’ve seen both the Hawaiian and delta 717s they are rare beauties ❤
Niceeee your the best utuber ✈🛩
Gotta love Swiss ❤
The 717 routinely operates from my local airport to DTW
Iv seen the same plane take off at Sunshine Coast airport
I've been on a 717 but not a 737
"we're gonna have a funeral before GTA 6" - swiss001, 2024
Used to have the 717 flyover me everyday up untill a few days ago :(
Delta’s 717 retirement plan keeps switching between 2025 and 2029
Flew on it last week 😊
Infinite Flight has a 717, although it’s an older model
Rip 717🫡
I love the 717 so much 😭
Only 50 747 left😢😢😢😢😢
RIP Qantas 717 😭
Hi Swiss! It was a nice vid!
Hey Respect For Qantas B717
I’m about to fly on one this week
I flew on an md-80 when allegiant air operated them.
I had a flight with 2 different Delta Boeing 717 aircraft from Detroit to Chicago and back
Lufthansa removed it's A340-600 from Colombia the last A340 in the country😢😢
I work at Kewr and delta has them in and out constantly
I flew with the 717 two years ago

Love you B717 bye forever in 2025 ❤❤
md 11 was retired on my 2nd birthday literlly on my birthday
That's not a very good birthday present:(
Yes please do a Video about flying the 717
Last time I flew on Qantas 717 it was back in 2020 after I come home from Townsville
So you're telling me qantas replaced the adopted plane for another adopted plane? Interesting....
8:38 because u are doing small airports
