Better lives? Isn't this relative? I have nephews and nieces who are Asian and White, and I have friends who have children who are Asian and Black and Asian and White. None of them have any insecurities about being Asian and being mixed. It comes down to parenting. These days I see mixed kids embracing their Asian heritage more. Another thing I noticed is that mixed children's appearances change over time. The mixed baby did not exhibit any Asian features during infancy, then as an adult, you start noticing the Asian side.

My dad is Vietnamese, so I carry the last name which I think is a different experience than people with Asian moms. Sucks in some ways because Asians think of me as the white guy, and White people think about you as the Asian guy, so you are always kind of a loner. Lot of times people have a hard time figuring out what I am though, until they see my last name, then you can almost see a filter shift in their eyes. On the plus side when I was single, getting girls was always like shooting fish in a barrel. Asian girls and white girls... I married a blonde, so my kids only have a little bit of flavor lol. Still got the last name, so they confuse people more than I do.
This isn't self-hating. Evolutionary science shows that mixing of DNA in general is better because you get the strengths of both sides. DNA WANTS us to mix, and that's why we tend to value mixed people better. It is the insecure people who view mixed people as a threat for their own personal survival. And it's not just DNA, multi-racial people also get to see the contrast of multiple cultures, and take in the strengths of them while leaving away the weaknesses. As a full Chinese person myself who hangs out with other ethnicities, I can see that my own culture has a lot of flaws (especially the one that considers gambling as a form of investment)

Long term relationships I would avoid it due to the fetishization that tends to compensate for a lack of compatibility (just from what I’ve seen). Short term relationships I think it will work great and women like the hapa mix. Latinas like it and black women are becoming more open to it (although I know most Asian men are not always the most open to black women). At the end of the day it depends on you and what you value. Some black men I know don’t mind being fetishized but most don’t like it. It’s tough though because so much of dating is based on things you can’t control (race,height,etc) so it’s really up to the individual if they want to rely on innate qualities rather than things they can work on (working out, styling, hygiene, game, etc). I love watching your videos. But I do want to say this. The world has been mixing forever. This isn't new. Before maps existed and countries was drawn up, people was nomadic. And as a result, different tribes been having sex with other foreign tribes. Inuit culture is kind of an Asian and Nordic mixture of people. As a hapa girl, I would say it honestly depends on where you live. I'm from Seattle and we have so many Asians here, so being hapa is fairly common and I think most of my hapa friends feel like they fit into a community. However, I had a lot of issues with my appearance growing up, mostly because I grew up with my white mom. I never really felt like I fit in with white people or Asian people, mainly because I didn't come from growing up in an Asian household so there were a lot of things I couldn't relate to. Now that I'm older I'm a lot more proud of my heritage and the way I look, but it took many years of self-hating to get to that point.

My hometown is Harbin, and my ancestors are from Russia-Japan-China border. We are pretty much quite mixed (Russian, Jews, and Japanese/Korean) to some extent 😄but we are PROUD CHINESE.
The Russian border that you share with used to be part of Manchuria and Mongolia. The people there are not European Russians, they are Eurasians that look like Eskimo, Siberian or Canadian indigenous people (50+ tributes). This is how the war started with Genghis Khan. White Russians later migrate there for work or were send by the Soviet CCCP for diversification

Most Asian countries are racially homogenous in terms of demographic makeup. It's much easier to stand out from the herd as a hapa or biracial person. The entertainment industry does tend to elevate those who are highly good-looking, though, so that does skew public perception. And pretty privilege in general is a real thing regardless of race. People who are deemed conventionally attractive will also be perceived as smarter, more competent, etc., solely on the basis of their physical appearance. (I.e., the halo effect.)

Well, in the Philippines, the mixes have always been glorified. At one time, it was the only Southeast Asian country that held its mixed citizens in high regard. And just look at the mixes: Anne Curtis, Alice Dixon, Catriona Grey, Gary Valenciano, Daniel Padilla, Miguel Rodriguez (Christopher Reeve lookalike), Andres Muhlach (and his father was very handsome. There were times Aga Muhlach looked like Korean actor Ko Soo), Pilita Corrales, Jackie Lou Blanco, et al. I remember a news item about people going ooh and aah after seeing Enrique Iglesias's mother Isabel Preysler (from Cebu). I remember also mentioning Wilfred Steven Uytengsu. I wonder how much the perception of beauty has to do with social status of certain group of people who carries certain features. Like couple hundred years ago foreigners in Asia are called “red hair ghost”, that’s before their military power was understood and social status elevated from winning wars. So apparently those features when first encountered were not perceived as ‘pretty’, but somehow later became the trend. It has happened in so many places, infamously South Korea began worshipping double eyelid after American culture entered SK and an American surgeon began those double eyelid surgeries. Or a little over one hundred years ago in China that binding feet was considered beauty because only the elite can afford to have those feet, combined with men fetish for feet. It makes me wonder how much our perception of beauty has been subconsciously been influenced by ‘power’, AKA social status and financial status etc.

I do think that here in HK wasians have tended to historically belong to more upper social classes, which determines how the general population will regard them. Btw I'm half Filipino/white living in HK, but generally look more similar to HK Chinese so most of the time my 'mixedness' goes unnoticed (and my Cantonese got good from being talked to in Cantonese by everyone). But whenever I do meet someone local who has a kind of internalized hatred/colonial mentality, I really feel them bringing my mixedness up all the time, while I just want to not think about it all the time.
And then there's the whole issue of Filipinos kind of being looked down upon here in HK since most that live here are working as domestic helpers and are seen as 'lower class' - so people usually need to do mental gymnastics to look highly upon me but at the same time look down upon Filipinos lol. Better lives? Isn't this relative? I have nephews and nieces who are Asian and White, and I have friends who have children who are Asian and Black and Asian and White. None of them have any insecurities about being Asian and being mixed. It comes down to parenting. These days I see mixed kids embracing their Asian heritage more. Another thing I noticed is that mixed children's appearances change over time. The mixed baby did not exhibit any Asian features during infancy, then as an adult, you start noticing the Asian side.

My dad is Vietnamese, so I carry the last name which I think is a different experience than people with Asian moms. Sucks in some ways because Asians think of me as the white guy, and White people think about you as the Asian guy, so you are always kind of a loner. Lot of times people have a hard time figuring out what I am though, until they see my last name, then you can almost see a filter shift in their eyes. On the plus side when I was single, getting girls was always like shooting fish in a barrel. Asian girls and white girls... I married a blonde, so my kids only have a little bit of flavor lol. Still got the last name, so they confuse people more than I do.

This isn't self-hating. Evolutionary science shows that mixing of DNA in general is better because you get the strengths of both sides. DNA WANTS us to mix, and that's why we tend to value mixed people better. It is the insecure people who view mixed people as a threat for their own personal survival. And it's not just DNA, multi-racial people also get to see the contrast of multiple cultures, and take in the strengths of them while leaving away the weaknesses. As a full Chinese person myself who hangs out with other ethnicities, I can see that my own culture has a lot of flaws (especially the one that considers gambling as a form of investment)

Long term relationships I would avoid it due to the fetishization that tends to compensate for a lack of compatibility (just from what I’ve seen). Short term relationships I think it will work great and women like the hapa mix. Latinas like it and black women are becoming more open to it (although I know most Asian men are not always the most open to black women).
At the end of the day it depends on you and what you value. Some black men I know don’t mind being fetishized but most don’t like it. It’s tough though because so much of dating is based on things you can’t control (race,height,etc) so it’s really up to the individual if they want to rely on innate qualities rather than things they can work on (working out, styling, hygiene, game, etc). As a hapa girl, I would say it honestly depends on where you live. I'm from Seattle and we have so many Asians here, so being hapa is fairly common and I think most of my hapa friends feel like they fit into a community. However, I had a lot of issues with my appearance growing up, mostly because I grew up with my white mom. I never really felt like I fit in with white people or Asian people, mainly because I didn't come from growing up in an Asian household so there were a lot of things I couldn't relate to. Now that I'm older I'm a lot more proud of my heritage and the way I look, but it took many years of self-hating to get to that point.

The people there are not European Russians, they are Eurasians that look like Eskimo, Siberian or Canadian indigenous people (50+ tributes). This is how the war started with Genghis Khan. Most Asian countries are racially homogenous in terms of demographic makeup. It's much easier to stand out from the herd as a hapa or biracial person. The entertainment industry does tend to elevate those who are highly good-looking, though, so that does skew public perception. And pretty privilege in general is a real thing regardless of race. People who are deemed conventionally attractive will also be perceived as smarter, more competent, etc., solely on the basis of their physical appearance. (I.e., the halo effect.)

As a half Korean half Irish guy, can I point out Kazakhs are not hapas. Kazakhs are primarily a northeast Asian people with some Iranian mixed in. Kazakhs like to imply they're just like me but I don't see it that way. The tartars look like me and my friends but not Kazakhs.

Well, in the Philippines, the mixes have always been glorified. At one time, it was the only Southeast Asian country that held its mixed citizens in high regard.
And just look at the mixes: Anne Curtis, Alice Dixon, Catriona Grey, Gary Valenciano, Daniel Padilla, Miguel Rodriguez (Christopher Reeve lookalike), Andres Muhlach (and his father was very handsome. There were times Aga Muhlach looked like Korean actor Ko Soo), Pilita Corrales, Jackie Lou Blanco, et al. I wonder how much the perception of beauty has to do with social status of certain group of people who carries certain features. Like couple hundred years ago foreigners in Asia are called “red hair ghost”, that’s before their military power was understood and social status elevated from winning wars. So apparently those features when first encountered were not perceived as ‘pretty’, but somehow later became the trend. It has happened in so many places, infamously South Korea began worshipping double eyelid after American culture entered SK and an American surgeon began those double eyelid surgeries. Or a little over one hundred years ago in China that binding feet was considered beauty because only the elite can afford to have those feet, combined with men fetish for feet.
It makes me wonder how much our perception of beauty has been subconsciously been influenced by ‘power’, AKA social status and financial status etc.
I am surprised that Fung bros never interviewed some Taiwanese people who do not look Chinese. Cos this is a upcoming trend. I kept seeing Taiwanese men and women natively marrying people from all sorts of racial backgrounds. Heck even their upcoming Vice President Mdm Hsiao is half white.

I do think that here in HK wasians have tended to historically belong to more upper social classes, which determines how the general population will regard them.
Btw I'm half Filipino/white living in HK, but generally look more similar to HK Chinese so most of the time my 'mixedness' goes unnoticed (and my Cantonese got good from being talked to in Cantonese by everyone). But whenever I do meet someone local who has a kind of internalized hatred/colonial mentality, I really feel them bringing my mixedness up all the time, while I just want to not think about it all the time.
And then there's the whole issue of Filipinos kind of being looked down upon here in HK since most that live here are working as domestic helpers and are seen as 'lower class' - so people usually need to do mental gymnastics to look highly upon me but at the same time look down upon Filipinos lol. Often it comes to "but you look more Chinese than Filipino, your mom must be mixed Chinese!"
