I love North Carolina! We go to Nantahala a few times a year for my guys to whitewater kayak there! I've got a few videos of NC 😃 Thank you so much for your kind words and for watching!! 💕 ✨️
Loved your thrift flip so beautiful so many favorites 😊the brown frame 🖼 with the dog 🐕 so cute that stool love it 😍 , the moss green box 📦💚for your grandchildren adorable 🥰thanks for sharing 💕😊🌿🌱
Love the idea of modifying thrifted art-don’t know why, but I always treat it as “sacred” somehow, thinking I need to keep it like it was painted (silly girl) but love the permission to modify it to suit my mood & decor!
I loved all your thrifted flips and the way you styled each of the items. Marla I thought your fireplace was built into the house. It is gorgeous. Blessings to you and your family!
Thank you, Mari! My fireplace came from Big Lots nearly 10 years ago and I think I got it on sale for about $400. It has animated flames 🔥 and you can also turn on an electric heater inside there that blows out heat when you need it. We love it!
Thanks! 💕 I'm gradually taking away the flags and red accents and switching them out for more shells and beach looking pieces 🐚 ⛱️ and some yellow flowers 🌼 😄
Hi my friend, I just love what you did to the boat picture!!! What a difference it made. And of course the dog card is adorable/ It looks like my sweet Mindy I had as a child. Love your tips!!! You look just like your Pinterest picture!!!!!! Have a blessed day
Aw Sandie, you are SWEET! Thanks for the compliments, "fran!" 😃 I'm glad I wanted to try matching the tone of the other painting, even though I didn't end up hanging them side by side. Now I know it can be done and I will do it again! My happy doggie is making me smile every time I pass by that foyer table ☺️ 🐕
Such good flips!!! I LOVE how your happy little dog turned out. I love it so much I went online and found it and I have one coming my way. We have a Chiweenie puppy, and that's just how she looks... happy all the time! Thanks, Marla, for sharing with us!
Oh my word, Joella, you've got to send me a pic of your Chiweenie! I am so happy you found the happy doggie print online! Makes my heart very glad 😊 🙌 ❤️
Ohhhhh....I LOVE the oil painting dulling down idea a LOT!!!! I pick up a lot of beautiful frames...more for the frame....but SOMETIMES they have gorgeous paintings that are just too, I dont know, bright I guess you'd say and it just makes it look kinda of gaudy and I like gaudy, but sometimes it looks cheap and no one likes cheap, lol! Its probably bc its older style and different techniques are used today, I dont know....but what a great idea! Other times I come across beautiful paintings that are unique and the frame is hideous and I never know if I should just cover the frame w paint or redo the whole thing, lol! Its the biggest thing I struggle with...WHAT to do with old paintings that have beautiful frames, but maybe the inside isnt so great or the pic is nice, but the frame not so much! ANd needlepoint....OMG do I come across tons of those and I wish there was a way to dull some of those down hahaa!!! What I also find a lot of is GORGEOUS needlepoint that has stains or mold spots omn them and although I have foudn a GREAT way to remove a lot of stains from linens (doilies, old hankies, table linens, etc...) I havent foudn a way with needlepoint bc I learned the HARD way....the STRING they used usually/most of them are NOT water proof and the color from the string or thread RUNS onto the background and FORGET IT, you are NOT getting that dye out of the background! I ruined two items that had colored string/thread in the needlepoint and had to scrap them bc I couldnt the dye out of the white background at all and bleach wont work bc of the age of it, plus its really hard to bleach without bleaching the whole thing. Its SOOO unfortunate, but I am thinking either people store them in a basement, or they are in a home where there are smokers and the nicotine does an absolute JOB on anything cloth. Its SUCH a bummer to see a gorgeous needlepoint that is almost brown with nicotine stains or has little mold spots all over it or BOTH bc I know I cant save it! =(
Have you ever tried carefully painting over the stained spots with a matte paint (chalk paint) that matches the background? A small detail paintbrush might work 🖌 🤔
Just found your channel and I like it very much. Can I say, the simple flips are the ones I normally get to?? The others are always put off for "another day"!! Loved them all.
I love, love, love watching and listening to your videos! Your voice is calming and my thoughts slow down. You also have some of the best ideas! I was taken aback when you started painting over and toning down the ship painting; but that was magnificent! It was just what it needed! You are beautiful inside and out, Miss Marla, and a what a blessing! I am so glad I found your channel. Oh, and I love seeing and hearing you talk about your treasures! Many of mine have stories to tell in their dings and chips! 🥰 -- Debbie in KS
Debbie, you have loaded me up with the nicest compliments! 😀 🙌 Thank you! Glad my videos are a stress-free spot in your day! 🌞 I was originally trying to match the tone of the other ocean painting but ended up using that ship painting alone, and I did love the way it looked 😍
Hi Marla, you are so creative. I remember playing with paper dolls when I was little. That was my favorite, the box you created for your granddaughter's paper dolls so sweet. My fireplace can be moved around too. Thanks for sharing and until next time take care, and have a nice evening!! 🤗❤️
I always loved paper dolls so much 💕 and these wooden magnetic ones are perfect for my toddler girls! I've had my fireplace nearly 10 years and have loved it immensely! 😃
Great flips Marla! Your little daschhound picture has inspired me to do something similar with a little Peter Rabbit card we bought when in the Lake District earlier this year. I’m now on the lookout for the perfect frame ❤️
How fun!! I'll bet Peter Rabbit art in a frame will be adorable! 😍 I think the little "tasteful whimsy" items that we find are what make our homes enjoyable and welcoming! 😄 ❤️
Howdy right back at ya, Laura Lynn! 👋😃 I'm so glad you're enjoying my channel! I'm on a 15 year run with that Pinterest profile pic and I'm not gonna break it!! 😆 💕
I will find you one day in a thrift store in Albertville, does Boaz still have all those thrift stores they had 5 to 10 years ago around every corner. There were several Hispanic stores, but l was working then so l could not stop because l was on time clock? I really enjoy watching you, it's exciting but, it is sooo relaxing to. Thanks Marla
This whole area has a lot of good thrift stores, I think! My Boaz favorites are Amazon Hope, Shepherd's Cove, Goodwill, and there are a few vendor malls as well. Thanks for your kind words! I'm so glad you're enjoying my channel! 😃 ❤️
WooHoo! Gotta comment but haven’t watched yet, lol! I’ll be back! Okay I finally got to finish watching and I loved them all! I have quite a few hurricane lanterns (as we call them on the gulf coast!🙄) and I was wondering if that style of lamp shade would sit on the rim of the glass? I love the look of oil lamps so much. Do you have some? I have to be careful where I display mine because I have cats, smh! Love you so much.💕
Hmm 🤔 I know gray would work, but if you want to try a watered down brown, I think that would work too. I think I'd just try a section and have a wet wipe ready to remove it, in case it doesn't look right
Such simple flips. They turned out great!❤
Thanks so much! 😊 ✨️

What about a Tide stain remover pen? It has a fine tip; maybe it would work!

If I wanted to tone down a fall painting that had a lot of lot of Orange would I still use the gray to tone it down or would I use a different color
Hmm 🤔 I know gray would work, but if you want to try a watered down brown, I think that would work too. I think I'd just try a section and have a wet wipe ready to remove it, in case it doesn't look right
Girl, don’t we all like being 15 years younger?!
Yeah, I choose to stay 40 years old in the world of Pinterest 😄 🙌 ❤️ ✨️
