- This is one of my favorite segments in our series. It shows the power of volunteers of all ages coming together to preserve and present a little slice of this countries great steam road road legacy. One of my favoriate characters is 90 plus year old Harold Borovec. Also enjoyed presenting the Father and Daughter relationship of Rikki and Rick Burchett. Hope you enjoy this peices as much as I did producing it.
Harold Borovec is sadly no longer with us. He was beloved in the preservation community, may he continue to chug along, where ever he is.
God bless his soul
Rikki works with us at the Tennessee Valley Railroad now as a fireman, conductor and soon to be engineer.
Awesome! Glad to hear she's still involved with trains!
I've met Harold Borovec! A grand old gentleman! He's a one-of-kind railroader!
We are working daily on the repairs to the Firebox. YES, it will come back. We need to raise $150,000 to reline the firebox. That plus about 6 more months of labor, will get our beloved #15 back on the route! The Chehalis Centralia Railroad just purchased 10.5 miles of track to run the excursions, now being pulled by USN #6 diesel.
I can raise funds by doing a circus steam train photo charter!
Has this goal moved forward any through the pandemic?
@@PhilVerryChannel yes, we have a contractor on the job... no date for completion yet though.
@@dylanbaker1928 😂😂😂
Harold passed away today. We will miss you
God bless his soul
Check out the video I took of the morning of the first break in run on this engine when she was rebuilt at the Mt. Rainier Scenic Railroad shops. She had some breaking in gremlins that day in 1988! But she has run great ever since. I never get tired of seeing this engine running or not.
It's amazing how a steam engine was sitting in a park for many years, and then it's riding the rails again.
Fantastic old Steam Locomotive. Always love seeing these being restored and ran. But one correction. The Great Smoky Mountain Railroad in Bryson City NC also runs a great dinner train pulled by 1702. It runs on the Murphy Branch from Dillsboro to Bryson City then to Nantahala. The train wreck scene from the Fugitive movie was filmed on this line.
Okay, I have to go see this now.
Well you can't 15 is down for repairs currently
Oregon Railfan how long will that take
Zachary Becker no clue have a look at the railroad's website
I found nothing
Zachary Becker well idk then I think they need donations before they can actually start but I'm not sure
Chehalis-Centralia Railroad was located in Chehalis, Washington.
The 2-8-2 Mikado locomotive was build in 1916.
@@jacksalvin364 Correction it was built in 1916
Awesome 🚂🚃🚃
I would love to see Mt. Rainer railroad #70 and Chehalis railroad #15 to doubleheader someday if possible
I didn’t know people and steam locomotives could be friends when I first heard about this railroad
great place, hope it's doing well. As i clicked on it, was hoping it was #15 from Steam Town,,,, at least from the one from NH,,,, i don't remember it on display in VT, tho i should, I think the one i'm refering sp, to, was or is, a 0-10-0. I"m only using memory, eeeek! lol I"m ONLY 60, lol. Good luck with the RR!!
Will the steam train ever come ever back again. Because it wasn’t there when I saw it on videos.
They have been raising fund for some big ticket repairs....Think they just got a big boost from the State too...Its getting there. But yes...it WILL return.
