Been in north port for 10 years. It’s great. U mentioned not a lot of jobs around the area. That’s true for most but the construction trade is booming. Lots of jobs in the construction field.
I found it interesting that if you search for North Port, FL on Zillow, all of the results were east of River Road. North Port continues to claim Wellen Park as part of the city. Zip code 34293 belongs to Venice, yet that's the same for Wellen Park properties.
Trust us, we hear about it in comments anytime we mention Wellen Park and Venice in the same sentence 😆 It seems a lot of people from North Port do want to claim it, but it's so hard to give it a clear city identity. Many addresses are Venice and it feels much closer to the edge of South Venice, plus many people that live in Wellen Park tend to shop and send kids to school in Venice. On the other hand, North Port handles it's utilities, fire, police, etc. It's also really close to Englewood... Ultimately we feel it's becoming it's own thing, much like Lakewood Ranch.
If you drive south on 41 you will see a giant structure on the side of the road that says welcome to North Port when you get to the West Villages and also the police department and fire department are City of North Port not affiliated with Venice or South Venice or even Sarasota county! If you don't understand why that is, i will tell you that it is because it is within the city limits of North Port !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Wellen Park is within the city of North Port and is not a part of Venice!
I lived on almetose terrace in north port but left after hurricane Charlie I miss it though and I have been loookg to come back but houses are so expensive
They are but prices are correcting
No Downtown in Port Charlotte. I'm off Toledo Blade Blvd here it is convenient for most things either to go to Port Charlotte or go stay in North Port. To me malls shouldn't close at 7pm on a weekday. Oh and thanks again for the North Port click bait. Wore your T-shirt to karaoke night at TJ Carney's a couple of weeks ago 🙂

Area Vibes gives Port Charlotte "F" for crime. Ive heard from locals its rough. Your thoughts?
We've always felt area vibes tends to give extremely high or low grades and have found niche to be more accurate. I would say there are pockets of Port Charlotte that are rougher than any of the nearby cities have though
I lived in North Port for three years and traveled through Port Charlotte almost daily and never had a problem.
