    What about the several disk based libraries and gui interfaces you made one as did others …. Could you comprise a list please 🙏

      I haven't contributed anything like that---you might be thinking of the wonderful work of Chris Roberts.
      I'll tap him for a response here.

    I dont know what im doing wrong, but im struggling a lot with pitch tracking on this thing. Drum sampling works fine but its a fight to use this as a piano rompler for instance.
    I record middle C into it, and take that same sample and assign it to 1-4. Use my doepfer midi-cv to hook up gate and pitch to CVA, configure all them to be the same and pull pitch from CVA at the 1v/oct, and immediately the oddness begins.
    First, its like the C i recorded it assumes is the lowest possible pitch or something, when i pass in the same midi note i recorded, it plays it 4 octaves higher. I dont see a way to set the Reference/Root pitch of the sample. So I resort to offsetting it in the pitch menu by -48, for all 4 channels. Then i noticed, for some odd reason, channel 3 is playing a slightly different pitch than the others. Just channel 3. I have to set it down to -46.54. I even went out of my way to use the same pitch cv into all 4 notes from a mult to make sure it wasn't my midi interface causing the issue somehow.
    So great, now I have them all playing the same initial pitch when i press the same key, but man does the pitch tracking not do a good job. I play 2 octaves up and its all out of tune.
    I would love to see someone try to set it up like an instrument instead of a drum machine with like piano samples instead of just single cycle waveforms. This sort of workflow works very easily in ableton's sampler, I imagine it should be possible with this.

      I'm so sorry I don't have my assimilator anymore--and I don't know the answer here---can someone help?
      All I would suggest is that it sounds like multisampling is what you need to do---ie: have more than one sample you're trying to stretch too far. I might be reading your question wrong. LOL. Again, sorry I don't have the module anymore.

      @@JohnoWells I ended up figuring it out, the pitch tracking on channel 3 is not calibrated correctly, but the other channels are/were fine.

    Can you layer several samples into one?

    • @JohnoWells
      @JohnoWells  Рік тому

      Per track, no. With 8 tracks to play with, I'd just mult the trigger and have another track firing a sample at the same time. Example, two kicks firing at the same time, etc. Then you could also have independent control over them - could make for some great combinations.

      @@JohnoWells i thought you can load two samples into two zones within one track and set exact same voltage for both zones

      @@JohnoWells yea my question would be is it possible to load two samples into two zones within one track and set exact same voltage for both zones.. : )

      No need to mult the trigger, just make one track the master and the other(s) a linked channel. When the master channel is triggered, the linked channel fires simultaneously. Zones dont allow layering, per se, but allow for selection of multiple sounds via cv or other methods (advance by gate, random by gate, etc.). I love to link/layer multiple samples in the machine, then resample back into a8 to create one mono or one stereo sample out of those linked tracks, to then reduce track count. This workflow seems a bit clunky but i love it.

    Is there any way to use Assimil8or as a live performance looper?
    Looping into it and switching to looped playback immediately?

    • @JohnoWells
      @JohnoWells  2 роки тому

      I'm sure you could use it like this. My feelings are that it might not be super fun and easy in performance. Looping in general is not one of Assimi8or's strong points. For dealing with loops, I prefer the BitBox Micro. I can set one of the inputs as clock (sadly missing on the Assimil8or) and loops will follow the BPM I'm sending in. Live looping I've never tried on either module. Personally, I save that for modules like Morphagene, Nebulae or Arbhar.
