• Misty - Ella Fitzgeral...
hey you beautiful humans. I know it's been awhile but i recently had something happen that made me want to share this artist i love. so a few days ago me and my husband had a date night. nothing crazy we made dinner then got drunk lol. but during that time we shared our favorite jazz artists. and he helped me kinda give words to why i like ella. we listened to a few other artists sing the same song and he pointed out that Ella really understands the songs she sings. shes not really singing for technicality. though she obviously has that down pat. but she understands the emotional part of the song. as my husband put it. "she feels the song she is singing." which is what elevates her to me. I hope you guys enjoy.

The most perfect voice God created. My favorite singer.
Gorgeous song...oh my goddness. I have heard others do it but I love Ella's...of course.
Ella is one of the best.
These old singers just sang so beautiful.
What I love most about live performances back in the day was that they were often performed in the moment. Even if the artist slipped up, it was the imperfections that often made it perfect for the people enjoying it.
I once watched Ella forget the words to Mack the Knife. What did she do? Well she just scatted her way thru it like it was what she always did. Perfect
A-Tisket A-Tasket--the entire Swing Era captured.
Perfection.❤
Glorious! The woman was a master of her craft.
Her Songbooks-an 8 album collection of her interpreting a different composer's songs on each (Cole Porter, Rogers & Hart, Duke Ellington, Irving Berlin, the Gershwin brothers, Harold Arlen, Jerome Kern and Johnny Mercer) are essentials. They contain so many treasures but my personal favorite is her version of Harold Arlen's "This Time the Dream's On Me".
It's a GOD GIVEN GIFT. NOT WITCHCRAFT
After Chick Webb died in 1939, Ella took over the band and ran it until she left for solo stardom.
She isn't called "The First Lady of Song" for nothing. Oscar Peterson often accompanied her on the piano, so he may very well be playing on this recording.
Easy to Love is some vintage Ella worth checking out.
Goodnight, My Love
Ella could act, too.
Pete Kelly's Blues
Let No Man Write My Epitaph
There was only one artist Frank Sinatra ever got nervous performing with, Ella. He knew she was the GREATEST voice and performer (in his expert opinion). No argument EVER.
Frank also paid high tribute to Billie Holiday; he called her his greatest influence.
Errol Garner wrote it.
