It’s amazing that you can put a $20 product on and last this long the car detailing industry are producing some great products thanks for the video Scott love watching your channel
I cannot admire you’re dedication enough. I hope you’re being comensales and recognized for your efforts. I haven’t viewed all of your videos yet, as a first time car owner, but I will certainly be finishing them up. I love how other commentators also point out how much they appreciate your dedication.
I've been using Cherry Blossom black shoe dye since i was a kid to paint almost anything black using a good brush or sponge evenly and never had streaking like your application. Painted white football boots and all sorts, so good to see your $3 Kiwi shoe dye pretty much blew every expensive product out of the water here.
I’ve been using Wipe new and Ceracote for a number of years. I Get between one 1/2 to two years of durability on vehicles that sit outside you’re around. Thanks as always Scott for your great testing!
Ive been using solution finish for a few years now. Excellent product. A little bit goes a long way. That stuff just never runs out and lasts forever. Glad it did well in your tests.
Had cerakote on my moms car in desert heat, dusty, no snow, gets up to 115°, anyway it’s been over a year and still looks like the day I put it on, excited to see if it lives longer Honda CRV trim
Fantastic video! I wish these videos had been around years ago before I wasted so much money on products that wash off or don't last. Thanks again for all you do, very helpful! just started using the Malco Epic revive Nu since watching this video. So far I'm loving it. Haven't washed or had rainy weather yet since application but the application went well and you can see a huge improvement in the finish.
I bought Wipe New thanks to you and it's still looking the same after almost a year now. It also worked miracles on rubber parts and seals. Trying to tell my neighbors about it after they bragged about their Back to Black, and now their black trim looks like it's 20 year old untreated gray crap. I tried telling them again but they just keep telling me, "oh, I use Back to Black". In my head I'm just like, "Did you hear me though? I put this stuff on the same time you did and mine still looks new and I'm literally staring at your faded trim right in front of my face". smh I wonder how Wipe New would fare on tires..
@@ScottHD Hi Scott, wondering if Malco Epic Revive Nu would work on tires... and so very appreciative for your testing videos - extremely informative and makes decision making easier with less money wasted on products that may not work as well.
There were a lot of "reliable" youtubers who recommended "Back to Black" a number of years ago and I'm one of many people who got screwed like your neighbor.
@@LBCAndrew I laughed when I took my wife's Toyota to the dealership for a warranty issue and while I was waiting I saw they were selling "back to black" in the service area!
I've always noticed the DIFFERENCE in the original Wipe-New product. It seems to chemically react with the plastic and mixing with the plastic to create a protective layer. ALL of the other products seem to be dressings(whether they dry to the touch or not) that cover your plastic with oils, ceramics, etc...
Has anyone used the clear winner Shine Supply Trim Paint? I'm about to use it on my Jeep. But can't find any info on how to remove it from your cars paint. One review in their site says it oeels right off if car paint if it dries. But no instructions tell you anything about this. I would prefer not to tape off the entire trim. And why is no one discussing the CLEAR winner here?!!!! And why was it never used in his subsequent trsts or anyone elses for that matter? Doing trim is a tedious process. I would prefer a product like this that does not require an additional application every two weeks.
Hi I'm about to order some it was clear winner I don't no what the guy was talking about I think he needs glasses take your time putting it on it wipes right off its water Bass.
Scott from what you can see is Shine Supply Trim Paint dying the plastic or is it sitting on top like a paint? I ask because if its a dye (like That Black Stuff) then it seems like you could add coats as it weakens without changing the plastics' texture but if it's a paint the layers would build up and cover the plastics' texture. Thanks!
Without going through all the comments to see if it came up, can you tell us which is the best, with a MATTE finish? Many don’t like shiny, like cerakote. Thanks!
Malco for me. I've had Cerakote applications go wrong and there is no fixing it. You can make it slightly better, but it's never as good as you'd want. Malco is easy to apply, easy to even out, and easy to maintain. Every time.
@@ScottHD I use Megs heavy duty vinyl cleaner then Megs APC to clean and prep plastic trim. I had so e rear bumper that Cerakote looked terrible on and I could never fix it. So I cleaned it again and applied Malco and it almost evened it out. Decided then that the risk with Cerakote was too great. Malco and solution finish should address 99% of trim issues you run into.
@@micd9256 I've had good results with That Black Stuff used with Malco. Apply That Black Stuff first. If you want a matt finish (like on weather stripping) apply Malco the next day but I achieved a gloss finish by applying Malco 10 mins after TBS. I only used dawn soap and a 35% isopropyl alcohol solution for the prep. TBS works great to cover up ground in dirt on black WeatherTech mats that scrubbing and soap won't clean. Of course, test a small spot first to make sure you'll get the same results.
I like Wipe New performance except it's very expensive since it comes in those wipes/pads so if you are going around a car and have 3 feet of trim left, you have to waste a whole wipe. I prefer a bottled method. I've been using Solution Finish then spraying a sealant over it. I might switch to that Black Stuff and Shine Supply dye though, it looks to be doing better.
This is a great video..turtle wax come out with Turtle Wax Hybrid Solutions Graphene Acrylic Trim Restorer..wonder how that will do since it’s a cheaper priced item at like 13 bucks and it might be able to beat the black stuff at almost half the price..
I really like Lithium Auto Care's new product called Graphene Trim Cubes. It smells and works like the Like New product, but it comes in sponge cubes which make it easier to get into tight places. You can also lightly buff it immediately after application to get rid of any streaks. They guarantee it for 250 washes.
A few questions: 1. I don't understand how Malco was considered the top product for the black trim when Shine Supply and That Dark Stuff looks much darker in the video. 2. That Black Stuff and Wipe New have horrible reviews on Amazon. Customers have numerous complaints. I'm wondering why the test here came out so positive for these 2 products. Perhaps, the type of plastic matters? Are the bottles old? Maybe, this can be investigated? 3. A major annoyance is there wasn't a wide-pan shot of the results with the corresponding labels. I had to constantly play it over and over again to determine which product was best. It would be great if you can pan out so we can judge for ourselves. And when you do this, label the products so we know which spot is associated with which product. Further, at the end of the video, if you can tell exactly which single product you recommend, that would be great.
This is the best video for plastic trim products hands down.
Thank you!

I 100% agree. Competition results in excellent products. And I love the fact that there isn't just one or two that stand out too!

Cerakote....easy to apply and reasonably priced.
Just used it for the first time and am hoping it lasts.
Thank you for the extensive test. In hot climates, the trim takes a beating so it's a never-ending maintenance.

Thanks as always Scott for your great testing!
You're welcome. Glad to see you're getting similar results!
Cerakote FTW
Ceracote for me, best bang for the buck. Thanks for your service 🙂
This is invaluable. I am sorry for your loss and your personal events.

I bought some trim restorer at least 7 years ago and it still looks great. Sadly, I cannot remember what it was 😢
Gonna give Malco a try! Thanks for these great videos!!
Just the quality video I was looking for! No, even better!
Thanks Scott. I appreciate the work you out into these
You're welcome!
THANK YOU so very much for doing these tests Scott
Might be something to add to your spreadsheet. Thanks for the amazing video!
All the years, I always bought the wrong products! Thanks for your work 👌
Thanks for the effort you put into this series. Going to order some Malco Epic Revive. 👍
Thank you! Great job as always. Really appreciate you keeping up with these over time. I know it can be a pain in the butt.
thank you for your work! i hope more people view and appreciate this. its well deserved

Thanks. I decided to go with the wipe new
awesome test brother! fantastic resource!
Thanks Scott, you have given me a lot to think about here 👍

Nice, will try Malco Epic once I’m done with a bottle of Solution finish

is this black shoe polish ?> or kiwi black leather dye ?
Thanks so much for this very long test! It is so helpful.

great test. clear and helpful results, great graphs. 10/10
Impressive performance by Malco
I'm confused, you put the gasoline on the panel and brushed it in, then covered the exact area where you did the brushing with the cardboard sign.
Try penetrol next. It's a paint additive but will blacken trim (and flat black paint) for a LONG time
I'll check that out! Thank you

Do you have any videos on restoration products for convertible soft tops?
I don't but I can work on something!
Would it be possible to use a trim restore product and then coat over it with ceramic ?
The new Lithium cube trim restorer.
Do you think these winners would work well in the engine bay of a vehicle?
Ie on hoses, preventing from drying out?

I have heard a few say that. If it gets on anything other than trim, it can be a headache to fix/remove

why is Owatrol Polytrol is not tested?
Hope can apply Vaseline on trim next time. It works good for me. Not sure long term.
A old DETAILER told me yr's ago if you have NEW CAR USE PURE GLYCIRIN on ALL THE RUBBER.

Next you should do a test on rubber trim
Great idea!
Try Feynlab Plastic Black.
I'll add it to the list!
any chinese version test?
For trim products only? I don't have one but I suppose I could do one. The Chinese only coatings update should be coming in a few days

Try 303 aerospace protectant
Son used this in his mobile detailing business. Wish it had been tested.

$10 worth of gasoline? Pfftt. out here in Commiefornia i would have had to get a reverse mortgage to pay for that much spilled gas.
NoT very fond of some chintzy overpriced wipes. 😠🧻. I’d love a showdown between Malco Revive Nu and Owatrol Polytrol.
