I didn’t realize not all casts had the standard: gold, green, white, red, pink, blue. Some had all black and one with teal which was a surprise.
The alternates have different costumes that can go with multiple characters, since they usually do 2-3 different roles depending on who can’t be there :)
@@jacobcano4439It makes me sad that Broadway union rules for understudies and swings require that they have identical costumes. I love the swing costumes 😢
They usually do have the same colours, but there’s silver, teal, and orange versions used by alternates and standbys
Ross are the alts and super alts. The girls that cover one or two queens and the ones that cover all of them
The alternates will have the same costumes as the main cast and then the swings and super swings will have one costume that works for all queens
i love how they each have their own unique costume
I might be wrong (i have not put alot of resuearch yet) but i feel jane her costume does not change. I might be wrong though.

@@theglasswolf3206if we’re talking about the general costume design, both the Aragon (gold) and Seymour (Silver/white/black) costumes were adapted at some point to fit more bodytypes. At least I know this for the Aragon style because Lauren Drew talked about it, and I think they furthermore did little changes to the Seymour dress. Which is valid because the costume itself looked not great on thinner actresses like Caitlin Tipping who was on the UK Tour.

the only cast ive seen is the original broadway cast. Someone tell me whats up with the different color costumes? Is it because like theyre understudies or something i have no idea
There are understudy costumes
It used to be that each alternate had their own costume, dance captain was black (for example Grace Mouat), the others orange, teal and pink. The production had to change it for Broadway rules, and since then alternates cover max 3 parts regularly and have the OG costume for those parts. In the cases where they do have to step in for their 3rd-6th cover, they once again wear their alternate costume.
it was a brilliant way of having each performer add their individuality on stage with their own costume, and also added visibility for thr brilliance of understudies and alternates. It‘s a shame that all of the other Six casts have taken on the US policy, but it is what it is

Possibly because you are so used to hearing the studio cast recording, you don’t recognise it as much with the change so it immediately sounds wrong. I hear it too, sounds off
some of these videos are from west end live which always has terrible sound quality so that explains those ones

The first group sounds like someone didn't set up their mics up well or they had the lease energy as it sounded a bit breathy like they were catching their breath every moment or it was catching their breath too loudly

Unfortunately they were flat and off key to start with until the music kicked in. (I'll get hate replies no doubt). But that's how it was.
The cast is literally different. It’s like they’re trying to impersonate six it sounds really off. It doesn’t sound like the original it just sounds really off and plus that’s not the real six

She was an alternate, so she has her own costume because alternates can potentially play all 6 queens (and she did!)

2:06 I’m sorry, but this is not SIX, wtf is this. The only accurate one is Anne, and K Howard is just barley recognizable because of her skirt. The others are just plain wrong. Kathy Parr and Cleves are the only queens who don’t wear skirts with their costumes.
Some of the alternates wore pants despite playing a queen who wore a skirt. The alternates had completely different costumes.
While it is sometimes strange, and hard to get used to. A beautiful part of theatre is the ability to tell the story in a slightly different way and really show off the creativity of that theater company’s certain design team! But personally I agree that the original costumes were amazing!
