Get the Hell Out of Dodge (LYRICS)
Written by: Alice Randall, Walter Hyatt
You put leaving on my mind, love
I’m gonna fly like the lonesome dove
Until my troubles with you
Fade to a blue mirage
You say there’s gonna be a showdown
But I won’t be here at sundown
One thing I do well,
Get the hell outta dodge
Your words ricochet around my head
Might as well be slinging lead
But I’m a son of a gun
If I can’t stand more than one barrage
Already two of my amigos died
My dignity and my manly pride
Let ‘em lay where they fell
Get thе hell outta dodge
I won’t hang around this old cowtown
If you don’t need me anymorе
And I don’t need nothing I can’t find
Behind some swinging doors
Ain’t gonna wait until the law gets there
Taking names and kicking you know where
A hanging judge with a trumped up charge
I see the writing on the fence rail
I hear the call down the lonesome trail
Clear as a bell
Get the hell out of dodge
You put leaving on my mind, love
I’m gonna fly like the lonesome dove
Until my troubles with you
Fade to a blue mirage
You say there’s gonna be a showdown
But I won’t be here at sundown
One thing I do well,
Get the hell outta dodge
One thing I do well is get the hell out of dodge…

Pass it on- Sultry and Bluesy Country Soul! Love it and this talented singer! More to come!
Nice! Country with soul. Love it.
Wow! I enjoy the Walter Hyatt and Hank Thompson/David Ball versions of this song, but this rendition is just extraordinary! Ms. Jamison's bluesy and appropriately resigned vocals are awesome. Her vocal stylings are expressive but never overpower the song. And the mix of steel guitar and horns gives the song a wonderful Muscle Shoals vibe that blends twang and soul. Love it!
Beautiful ❤
