Perhaps this is a slightly extreme method, basically making the wtach unsaleble, butt hey, if it stops us serial flippers from flipping then there is some merit in it, right? 1200 hv is basically equivalent to Damasko and Sinn's better cases, so that's not bad at all. Nice to see more competition in the "german hardened steel watch" category.
I have the opposite problem. I keep buying watches but have never sold one. A lot of them never get wrist time anymore. I can’t bring myself to sell any as I always remember the reason I bought it in the first place. I now have too many watches really so have slowed buying to pieces that I feel are really special to me. I think, we will see.
I’m in the same place. Just deleted my buy list off my phone as an attempt to slow this down. I can’t picture selling anything so now I’m worried about wrist time.
@@NexDim. even worse. I started running again after an 18 year break and wanted a modern watch that will tell me if I am overdoing it. After lots of research I plumped for a HUAWEI GT2 smart watch. I wear it day and night ( I previously never wore a watch at night) to keep a full record of heart rate and sleep patterns. I can play music from it and receive phone calls plus choose from hundreds of different watch faces both analogue and digital. I may never wear another watch again!
If you're looking at German brands, check out Muhle Glashutte. They've made an awesome watch for a German Army Special Forces unit, the Seebatalion. Watches issued to soldiers have their name, rank and number engraved on the case back.

No flipping at mine, I have children to help me “recycle and gift” any unused or unloved watches. It’s a sweet deal, they don’t pay and I get to buy more watches.🙂
Got the feeling they regulate watches which are reviewed and presented. My Dekla watch with SW200 is running poorly out of advertised range at +22sec per day and has visual imperfections on the dial and hands.
Geez, yet ANOTHER complaint from someone about the reliability or accuracy of the SW200.
It’s pretty interesting to see they printed “Hergestellt in Deutschland” below the 6 o’clock index, i don’t think I’ve ever seen those words in German, usually stuff just says Made in Germany

@@damyr I’m pretty sure in some countries they do, I’ve seen plenty of labels saying “fabriqué en France” or “hecho en España” but hergestellt in Deutschland was new to me

I bought a 40mm dekla flieger with manual wind because of your other video. i love it a lot.
DEKLA is a fantastic brand. I love the watch you had made with the orange seconds hand to give it a wee bit of pop!
Same watch upside and down, would have preferred single baton on 6 o'clock.
You can get a nice Staib mesh bracelet (for a price) on their deck watch, which is also 20mm width, so I imagine you could ask and get it on any of their other watches. Fine looking watch!
Surprised to see people say it’s expensive. Its competitors are Damasko and Sinn which are double the price (although bigger brands) for almost identical specs

Well you are so right about personalization. I have an Augsburg LACO and it came with my title (staff surgeon) and name on the back and the medical center name on the side. I had “ooooed and aaahed” over one of the attractive German (local) nurses’ grandfathers original IWC B Uhr. It got me the LACO as a going away thank you gift. While I still have the watch, that was not what I was hoping for. But fond memories none the less.

I could be mistaken, (sorry, I'm watching this one on my tiny phone screen...), but I'm pretty sure that's a Eurofighter on the crown (a Luftwaffe staple) . Also, the "turbulence" pattern on the case back is the pattern the air makes behind the aircraft... So I definitely concur with your 'pilots watch' theory!

Looks like a more affordable Damasko DS30/DK30, particularly when compared to the DK 30/32. The only thing that would hold me back, apart from already having a DS30, is the lack of a date. I can't seem to get past not having a date on my watch, even if I only look at it once every couple of days.
It's uncanny how much that resembles the Sinn 556i RS

I have a destro type A 6steel Flieger (42mm) from Dekla and it's a very well made watch. I do plan to one day add a Turbulenz as well. I do agree on the stock straps. I immediately swapped mine for a similar one to what you used on yours. People should be looking harder at Dekla. So much for the price.
Very nice, Jody. As you have said, be careful with the options as they may price the Dekla above its weight. Just yesterday, my son bought a Damasko DS30 (the discontinued version with the ETA movement) and, I must stay, that watch is very hard to beat at around US $1000. Last week, Random Rob featured a grey-dialed version of the Damasko. As much as Ilike this Dekla, the Damasko out-specs it at the higher cost bracket. Nonetheless, I am happy that German watches such as this Dekla are now receiving the much-deserved respect. Thanks for the review.
Great looking watch. I was all enthusiastic seeing Concorde on the crown then looked closer and it's not. Checked the dial options on the website, considering the movements offered, no date option, no bracelet option as you said. Close but no cigar.

Dare I say that second hand is like a light caber?! Looks quite good.
On my watch the Dekla strap buckle pin became loose and fell out, I lost the buckle rendering the strap useless. A bit of a design fault in my opinion.
Received mine in December fantastic watch amazing value , got mine on a watch steward parachute strap very happy indeed.

I don't know. The supplied strap actually looks old, unlike your strap which is new looking fake old. Sounds like a very cool company. I have Sinn and Stowa which I love.
Which watch do you like best: DEKLA Turbulenz or DEKLA Pilot watch Type B ? I choose between them and I can't decide, but I have Laco Type A

Only watch I keep for a few years now is the one my girlfriend gave me for my birthday. For this time I bought and sell may be over ten watches each one with the intention to be a keeper and the last one.

You complained about the strap that came with it. What did you replace it with? I know it is Horween, but from where?
Zelos used to give the quick release Horween strap free when you bought a watch on a bracelet, now you get a tropical rubber strap.
I would imagine that with the amount of Zelos watches Jody has reviewed he probably has at least a dozen of these. They are Super comfortable.
I got myself a Glycine Combat Sub, after doing some research. It's my first automatic watch, but there are no plans to flip it. Others might laugh about that, and I wasn't sure about my choice for a while, but it's not something I want to part with now.

Tactical no, but for legibility at a glance, it's nice! I unfortunately was turned off to this brand due to pricing. They're really nice but as mentioned adding the options adds to the price quite a bit, and I'm just not into pilot's watches enough to drop the coin.
true they are not a bargain at first sight . but then again try to find another brand featuring the quality and the finish with the same specs. after a short while you might realize that DEKLA is actually super cheap in what it offers. Especially the customization options.
You might even say: DEKLA is the new SINN before they got super famous and expensive. im thinking about snatching one of their watches soon because the prices will only go up from this point on :)

wish they had put in a flat crystal. I was looking at this but the reflections from the slight dome put me off. no amount of AR is going to help with that unfortunately!
This commits the same sin as my 556i, nothing on the dial to tell the orientation. Still like both of these.

Very nice pilot, modern but showing its heritage. I'm having problems too with establishing a stable collection, that is supposedly my intention. There's always something more I want, something more I find, some bargain I can't ignore. I tried to have only 12, but even selling and giving some of them as presents, I have now 18 that I find not expendable. I think my only solution is a bigger box, and I'm not trying to be funny. Well, I guess at least I have a stable base and then 3 or 4 flippers.

I've been thinking lately that my next watch will probably be a Flieger Type B and Dekla's is very high on the list (along with the Sinn and Hamilton ... I'd love an IWC but really can't justify the price).

Nice video, decent watch but £500 for a Sinn 556 lookalike? You convinced me that it has a good pedigree and good timekeeping etc, but i definitely love my Sinn 556 in the black leather strap. A classic not a substitute for me. PS absolutely love your JOMW logo, it clearly reminds me of the The Man From UNCLE original TV Show. Looks like a nice Sinn and Damasko competitor for much less moola, that logo on the dial is a turn off for me though- looks far too much like something slapped onto the dial of an aliexpress homage watch

Although I like the review, the fact that they gifted and personalized a $1000 watch does raise an eyebrow about the tenacity of the review. I know I would be hard pressed to spit on a gift horse! I wouldn’t really argue for a $100 watch but that extra zero adds a chance of subconscious favouritism.

@@damyr Its not in your budget then. but it certainly is not too expensive. you should compare it with other automatic alternatives. quartz will always be cheaper ;)

And I always prefer a good quartz over a mechanical one, because of better overall quality.
Problem is that DEKLA is now worth twice the purchase price because it has your logo! I'd buy it!
Looking forward to build a customised DEKLA myself. All I am missing is a date complication and it would be a done deal.
They now will offer date, they show a small, round window at 4:30 that blends into a black dial and does not take out any of the printed marks.
It's gone on their facebook just a week ago. I have an order in progress (Turbulenz v.2) and may change to the date.
