Hey guys, unfortunately it looks like JLA is out of business, but GW Audio is still going strong, and there’s no problems getting service to those of us in the US. Thanks for watching!
Hi there, thanks for the video I appreciate the extra coupon code ;) I will reach out to GW’s to know what kind of drivers they use in there exactly And would you please tell me what color is the shell on the second pair of gw’s beside the sparkle white ones? Are those in smoke ? They look just amazing Thanks
Great video! I just got my Alclairs today. I think they might be the best deal out there right now for high end custom IEMs. I got the Spire 6 Driver, custom artwork and upgraded cable for a decent price $900. Of course that’s a lot of money but UE would have been $3000. And I agree, customs are the way to go if you want to protect your heating, which we all should do. I have used the cheaper China ones, KZ 10 driver, they sound pretty good but will never stay put while I’m drumming.
I've been loving these IEM videos. I wish they were around 6 months ago when I bought my sure IEs haha. Definitely appreciate the info bro. Keep up the great work. Looking forward to the next one.
Just my custom tips with new iems from MEE Professional. I am going to be usimg these for mowing the lawn. The iems are the mx7s. With iems and custom tips i paid less than $200. That does not include getting ear molds made. I went with the MEE Professional because they have a bluetooth adapter for my phone.
Great review - FYI - I use the budget friendly KZ ZSX 6 driver IEMs, but I paid my audiologist (I am a two ear hearing aid user!!) to make me a pair of custom ear moulds - £52 delivered. Best of both worlds for less than £100 GB
@@JRu-lg3nn my audiologist took an ear mould (left and right) and made me clear silicon “ear plugs” to fit the earbud sound guide and with a small hole right through to let the sound from the IEM pass.
I’ve been a hearing aid user all my life, but am just getting into IEMs. I thought about this several times, but wondered if anyone else had done it. Do you have the vent with your hearing aids? I feel like with my hearing loss, the vent has always let in a little ambience, so I’m wondering how important something like that is with my in-ears.
@@JacobHeadMusic my moulds completely seal the ear canal so no ambient sound. I do run an audience mic for some audio feedback from the crowd for those in the band that want it - but to be honest rarely have it high enough to notice in my personal IEM mix.
Dan, check out Alien Ears, they do custom IEM`s for around the same price AND will custom re-shell universal IEMS. I had my kz as10`s re-shelled and they are awesome!
Love this. Thank you so so much for the two videos. Did not know you were a full time traveler. Impressive you can be doing all this while on the road!
Hey Dan, what's up with the guitar build off? When are you getting in on the smack talk? It's pretty much just Brad Angove and Texas toast right now. Texas Toast offered you their shop to use. Matt likes guns. You'd get along great minus the friendly smack talk.
It should be noted that when it comes to any speaker or headphone, the contains more than one speaker, the sound is much more about the crossovers than the speakers themselves. There’s a reason expensive IMS are expensive because they do a lot of work in tuning the crossovers. I would say these cheaper brands probably just use off the shelf crossovers if they even use them at all
Look into Anthem five iem's. I got dual driver hybrids for $158 with a knowles ba for the mids and highs and a dynamic driver for lows and low mids. They sound excellent. They also offer quad drivers for about $399.
I own several of the budget in-ears previously recommended and have been ecstatic with the BGVP's (w/ mic) that have become my primary monitors for music listening and phone conversations. However, I am not thrilled with the fit when using silicon or memory foam ear tips when moving around. They randomly fall out. It sounds like the JLA's might be the solution with the fitted ear pieces!
I bought the JLA deal over a week ago on the JLA website. (I even got a mold made by an audiologist.) Sadly I have not gotten any response from JLA other than an automated email response saying they received my order and billed my card. I have no where to send my molds nor even an email or phone number to contact them. I have left multiple messages on their website contact form and have received no response. It looks like I now have to contact my credit card company and see if I can get my payment back from JLA and go elsewhere. Unfortunately, it looks like JLA left their site up and are no longer in business.
I am having the same problem! Only, the only automated response I got was the one saying that they got my money. Not even an automated response to my inquiries on where to send my impressions. Now, the website is even expired. So they have my money, and that's all the further I can get. Did anything more happen for you?
Have you seen “waves custom in ears” they are 120 dollars and you scan your ears with your phone. If you could do a review on these that would be great. Thanks!
I just bought some astell kern billie jeans and it is the best earphones i ever owned listening to miles davis, Led Zeppelin, muddy waters. It blows my mind but then i see reviews on se846 and campfire and your guys say its the best of the best and it just makes me wonder if this iem i have only cost 400$ how much am i missing listening on $1000 iems
I like my Audio Technica M20x hahah. I have the best bluetooth too. The original Blubud X...Dirt cheap today and sound best in my opinion. For IEM I have the AZN 30 USD dual driver that sound flat and great. They are very close to the M20x OE. Anyway that's all 3 for me. All under 49.00 USD. Hehehe. I'm no Audiophile but I am a musician and I know what sound I like and what full range to Flat is.

'universal fit are still the best value' After my ear bleeding experience of paying $500 for the custom fit JH5's I'd have to agree but that custom fit is hard to return from once you've experienced how secure they always feel....

Would you compare any of these to the universal fits you reviewed for 2020? Or are these on a different level even starting at the $160 option? Thank you so much!
Hey dan! I’ve been looking into getting a power supply for my guitar pedals and i noticed donner has one. It would be AWESOME if you could perhaps make a video on it. It’s only 50$ which is a bargain but the question is.... is it worth it ? 🤔
No - don’t waste your money. Tried one and had huge problems with ground hum and spurious clicks. Spend the extra cash on a One Spot power supply. I have three now - they are faultless, quiet and power everything - even have enough juice to run a Helix Stomp!
So you talked about it, but I’m a touring bassist and was thinking about the cca12. But now should I get the customs? Is the custom worth about 6 times the price?? Would pry get the best 3 driver JLA. I really don’t know now 😂 money is kinda a factor but not a huge one
I've used both universal and custom mold iem's and I can say without a doubt if you are playing shows on a touring level I'd recommend getting custom molds. The universal fit iem's work and I would say its a good idea to have a set or two as spares but the fit of a custom mold iem makes a big difference when you are. On a hot stage sweating and having longer set list. Having a good seal and not having to constantly push them back in your ear or adjust them makes it worth the extra money.

Whilst a dynamic driver tends to offer slightly better overall performance. They also tend to get muddy when sealed close to the canal. They are also less efficient than BAs.
