Great video! I just got my Alclairs today. I think they might be the best deal out there right now for high end custom IEMs. I got the Spire 6 Driver, custom artwork and upgraded cable for a decent price $900. Of course that’s a lot of money but UE would have been $3000. And I agree, customs are the way to go if you want to protect your heating, which we all should do. I have used the cheaper China ones, KZ 10 driver, they sound pretty good but will never stay put while I’m drumming.

Just my custom tips with new iems from MEE Professional. I am going to be usimg these for mowing the lawn. The iems are the mx7s. With iems and custom tips i paid less than $200. That does not include getting ear molds made. I went with the MEE Professional because they have a bluetooth adapter for my phone.

Great review - FYI - I use the budget friendly KZ ZSX 6 driver IEMs, but I paid my audiologist (I am a two ear hearing aid user!!) to make me a pair of custom ear moulds - £52 delivered. Best of both worlds for less than £100 GB

I’ve been a hearing aid user all my life, but am just getting into IEMs. I thought about this several times, but wondered if anyone else had done it. Do you have the vent with your hearing aids? I feel like with my hearing loss, the vent has always let in a little ambience, so I’m wondering how important something like that is with my in-ears.

It should be noted that when it comes to any speaker or headphone, the contains more than one speaker, the sound is much more about the crossovers than the speakers themselves. There’s a reason expensive IMS are expensive because they do a lot of work in tuning the crossovers. I would say these cheaper brands probably just use off the shelf crossovers if they even use them at all

However, I am not thrilled with the fit when using silicon or memory foam ear tips when moving around. They randomly fall out. I bought the JLA deal over a week ago on the JLA website. (I even got a mold made by an audiologist.) Sadly I have not gotten any response from JLA other than an automated email response saying they received my order and billed my card. I have no where to send my molds nor even an email or phone number to contact them. I have left multiple messages on their website contact form and have received no response. It looks like I now have to contact my credit card company and see if I can get my payment back from JLA and go elsewhere. Unfortunately, it looks like JLA left their site up and are no longer in business.

I've used both universal and custom mold iem's and I can say without a doubt if you are playing shows on a touring level I'd recommend getting custom molds. The universal fit iem's work and I would say its a good idea to have a set or two as spares but the fit of a custom mold iem makes a big difference when you are. On a hot stage sweating and having longer set list. Having a good seal and not having to constantly push them back in your ear or adjust them makes it worth the extra money.

Yeah! I had the same problem as Steven Korson's below. They took my money, ghosted me, and now even their website has disappeared. Then, crazily enough, (a month after the initial transaction), I get an email from them saying they haven't received my impressions yet. Wow. Here's my reply and his response:
      Me:
"I went and got my impressions done shortly after placing my order. The same day, I went to your website to find where to send my impressions. I looked all over the FAQ, product page, and even checked my email invoice to see if I could find it there. It was nowhere. So, I used the "contact us" form on your website to hopefully obtain the information. I received no response. Not even an automated one. I tried again about 5 days later. Still crickets. I even tried replying to the invoice email, thinking it would probably bounce back, which it did. I then, I contacted Guns n Guitars (where I found out about you), and one other person I'd found on Facebook who'd used you, to see if either of them had any contact info for you, but GnG never answered, and the other person never got back to me with any info. I also noticed in the comments on the GnG video that there was a man several months before this that had the exact same problem as me. Several weeks went by, and in the course of that time, I even noticed that your website had expired. At that point, I gave up hope, and contacted my credit card company to dispute the transaction.
My credit card company has issued me a provisional refund while my bank (who I have the card through) attempts to collect the money I lost to you. Has US Bank contacted you?
There may be some way for me to call this off, I don't know, but I'm pretty pissed, as you might imagine. I've never felt so duped. What the hell happened?
I might still consider getting IEMs through you, but given the circumstances, I think you owe me a significant upgrade of some sort. Then I might consider trying to call off the bank."
      Him:
"Go ahead and get the refund. If you've already put in for that, the ball is rolling. I'm sorry for your troubles"
      Me:
"Not even an explanation? Okay, awesome."
      Him:
"You've started a chargeback. There's no reason to continue this conversation. I owe you no explanation."
      My thoughts:
....Unbelievable!!!! I am not a business owner, but if I was, and I found out that I had caused a customer that kind of a headache, I can't IMAGINE treating their complaint with that kind of dismissiveness. I would feel awful. I would pull out all the stops to apologize and make it truly right. I'm not just disgusted with what I had to go through, but... the ATTITUDE!! Also, he obviously thinks that our interactions is just about that $375, and since I'm getting that back via my bank, he owes me nothing. So, his reputation with customers is not important to him. To top it off, when I said as much to him, he replied that it was ME who had an attitude problem! Now I'm glad he won't be getting my money!
Needless to say, even if he fixes his website and reappears...STAY AWAY.

Great job on mixing up a single DYNAMIC driver with a BALANCED ARMATURE driver for people who are just becoming acquainted with great iems. These two are COMPLETELY different. A single balanced armature driver sounds absolutely trash compared to a single dynamic driver. Buyers, please beware of the product that you plan to buy and do more research before you make your purchase!

    • @gw_audio
      @gw_audio 3 роки тому +3

Unfortunately this isn't the case. There are so many variables to consider before you can jump to that conclusion. Single driver BAs can absolutely be made to sound great. Whilst a dynamic driver tends to offer slightly better overall performance. They also tend to get muddy when sealed close to the canal. They are also less efficient than BAs. However the main reason we use BAs for the single driver is that dynamic drivers suffer far more with moisture and degrade quickly compared to BAs. A friend who also runs an IEM company frequently has to rebuild UE iems due to dynamic driver failures.
