"Our daughter's daughters will adore us and they'll sing in grateful chorus, well done Sister Suffragette!" A life well live indeed Glynis
Absolutely!
She graced the planet for 100 years. Well done Glynis Johns!
Well done, Glynis! Rest in Peace. Thank you TCM for remembering her.
A fine actress who made it to 100 years R.I.P. and thanks for the legacy.
As Mrs. Banks, she was my first feminist icon. Rest in Peace and thanks for Send in the Clowns. 😢❤
She and that marvelous voice were unforgettable.
She's our beloved Disney Legend.
From "The Court Jester" to "Shake Hands With the Devil" talent, range, beauty. RIP
Thank you for this special tribute. She should be made a Dame. Britain’s oldest film star.
Proof that TCM does some of the best memorial tributes. My condolences to the family, friends, and fans of Glynis Johns.
Her voice alone speaks volumes. Always a delight to see and listen to.
She'll be a truly great Disney legend. Rest in peace Glynis.
I hope TCM plays The Sword & The Rose in her honor.
RIP Glynis .Loved your films❤
Such sad news! RIP Glynis Johns, a long life well lived. Her presence on screen through out the decades filled our lives with joy and memories of her wonderful talents throughout the longevity of her career.
Thank you, TCM. Always loved her. She was Effervescent. Fortunate to have seen her on stage in a Coward play. Wish I'd seen her in "A Little Night Music." Check out a charming little film with Donat and Kerr called "Vacation from Marriage" in the u.s. Loved her in Poppins, of course, and as a mermaid, The Court Jester, Adventures of Tartu, No Highway in the Sky, etc. and fondly remember her sitcom "Glynis!"
I had the privilege of seeing her in the New York production of Night Music. Many people don't realize that Sondheim wrote the melody for "Send In The Clowns" with short phrases to suit her vocal abilities.
Blyth Spirit by Sir Noël Coward.
Loved Vacation from Marriage. Loved everyone in it. Nice to see someone else that remembers that movie.
Cutest flight attendant in the movies.
How fortunate you were to see her on stage, gracing a Noel Coward play.
Which one did you see?
My favorite movie of Glynnis Johns’s is ‘49th Parallel,’ released in 1942 in the US. She is just a teenager, but is luminous, and she makes you remember her relatively small part- in a two-hour war movie with many of the day’s biggest male stars. RIP, Ms. Glynnis. What an entertainer you were!
As a child, I remember her in the movies, "When Knighthood Was in Flower," and I envied her role. She looked so charming. Rest in Peace, Lady Glynis.
I wish they had included clips of her from "While You Were Sleeping" and "The Ref." She was so funny in both.
Rest in Peace Glynis! Thankfully, we still have you on screen
She also had a lovely bit part in Around the World in Eighty Days..
She was a wonderful actress and always loved to watch her in her various roles.
Watched "The Jester" last night in her memory. 💗
100 years old. She was a fighter. RIP.
God bless her and Ms. Glynis will Iive in our hearts and minds. Forever
Loved her in The Court Jester and Mary Poppins!!
Great Actress….RIP 🙏💜⭐️⭐️⭐️
Beautifully done. 😢 Always enjoyed watching her in movies.
Lovely Lady she had a beautiful smile .
A nice tribute, that would have been more compelling had you included some of her dialog, in that distinctive voice that graced so many movies.
WATCH HER WORK!!!
Tears, Rest Easy my friend
Her expressions were always so priceless........great actress.
I just watched While You Were Sleeping again over Christmas, and she was so great in the background, even when a scene featured other actors. She was always in character.
@@patriciasalem3606Having watched "No Highway In the Sky" where she plays a stewardess on a large passenger plane, Jimmy Stewart playing an engineer who is convinced that a defect in these planes is responsible for crashes, plus a cameo appearance of Marlena Deitrick playing a passenger. Glynis is at her best with her acting and those priceless expressions with those eyes, always ready to calm down any fears by making more coffee. She has the ability to combine drama and a bit of light comedy in her role.
Very enjoyable, but forgotten film that is so good.
Wonderful actress, wonderful lady! Will never forget her in "Vacation from Marriage" aka " Perfect Strangers" with Deborah Kerr & Robert Donat, a wartime romantic comedy. That's Glynis in the WRNS uniform in this montage.
RIP..... Great lady
Completely unique always. RIP.
We'll never forget you, Mrs. Banks. 😢
She was amazing in everything I saw her in. I loved her best in The Court Jester and Mary Poppins.
Remembering Ms Johns from 49th Parallel, the second Powell & Pressburger film I ever saw. Rest in peace.
I loved her in Vacation from Marriage, The Sundowners, All Mine to Give, The Court Jester, and her two movies as the adorable mermaid Miranda.
I knew her as Maid Jean before she was a sister suffragette, but Glynis Johns was amazing in everything she was in.
R.I.P Glysis Johns 1923 - 2024 ⚰️🕊️
Farewell Glynis. Well done!
Rest in peace 😇 rise in glory
Thank you for teaching us feminism Sister Suffragette ❤
Ironic that on Cheers she played a kept woman dependent on husbands (though she did object to daughter Diane's forced marriage).
I fell in love with Glynis from The Court Jester with Danny Kaye. I followed her over the years to check on her. Her birthday is the day before mine and this last one I told my son that Glynis Johns turned 100. He knows exactly who she was. He saw The Court Jester as a boy as I did.
Lovely tribute to a luminous star. That voice. Sublime.
The chalice from the palace, has the brew that is true.😂❤ (The Court Jester)
The Court Jester was my favorite of hers followed by While You Were Sleeping.
Thank you for making this.
I will never forget her in Mary Poppins or Scooby Doo and the Ghoul School. Thank you Glynis.
Now I need to watch Court Jester again. But While You Were Sleeping is my favorite movie she was in. She was the grandma.
i always liked her work - rip
This "Very Gracious Lady", and Miss Dana Wynter, must always be fondly remembered as two Britain's greatest gifts to cinema. Their performances were always a treasure to watch.
RIP Miss Glynis Johns, I have been, and Always Shall be, a Fan.
Lovely Glynis Johns, so respectable. A thoroughly good person. RIP
Rest in peace. 🌹
She played Diane Chamber's mother on Cheers.
😢RIP to the beautiful, joyful and awesome Miss Glynis Johns!! Thank you for your body of work!! Winifred Banks❤and the beautiful Maid Jean were some of my favorites. 🙏❤😪
Loved Glynis in "Mary Poppins" and " While You Were Sleeping " , plus she was so funny in "The Ref", a very different kind of Christmas movie about a bickering couple who get kidnapped at Christmas
LOVED her in Superstar with Molly Shannon “… and when I say ooga booga you ooga booga” “what’s ooga booga” “I don’t know… but when I say ooga booga you better f@cking figure it out”
I was astonished when I was watching Mary Poppins for the millionth time and read this headline. It felt very personal. What a great career and long life 🙏
She is close in age to my paternal grandparents, they both died and that makes me emotional
You are missed Glynis. Your face lit up the screen.
What a dame, what a peach, what an actress! We'll miss you, Glynnis
Miranda! She will make you believe. So charming.
May we please have one for Tom Wilkinson?
she played Diane Chamber's mother on the TV Show Cheers.
I can't think of any other actress from any era I've enjoyed more than her! From her very early work clear up through Mary Poppins
And now, all TCM has to do is make DVDs and Blu rays available in the Canadian market.
Don't forget collectors who support your cause.
TCM Canada different, assume due to rights, Thin Man marathons Tarzan here & had to find National Velvet & Dinner at Eight elsewhere.
In my fav movie as a child ..Mary Poppins and still to this day 🩷✨
This is sad. I enjoyed her in the movies. RIP dear Lady.
"Well done, Sister suffragetts. " Mary Poppins could not have been made without Glynnis John's. Rest in Peace, Glynnis Johns.
Ty
Great tribute video 👏
Glynis played Jimmy Stewart's wife in the charming Dear Bridget.
The story is about young Billy Mumis obsession with Bridgette Bardot
At the end we get to see a cameo 😂 Miss Bardot.
It is a Fox film, therefore, the odds are against seeing it on TCM.
According to TCM, Bridgette Bardot does not exist in their lexacon.
RIP Mrs. Banks
Sorry sorry ❤❤❤
She was also Lady Penelope Peasoup in the 60's Batman
Her father was Mervyn Johns, who played Bob Cratchit in the 1951 Alastair Sims version of Scrooge!
I guess Tom Wilkinson gets TCM's 'Peggy Lee Treatment.'
I loved her in "The Court Jester."
Wasn't she absolutely delightful?
No one does tributes like TCM.
❤
This week's movie: Mary Poppins Meets Frankenstein...starring Dame Mae Fishman.
Does that mean they’re going to air _Mary Poppins_ on TCM?
Rip
The Sundowners
At 0:10 in what movie was she in suit and tie?
They had faces then ....
How old was she?
100 Years Old.
@@eamonndeane587 -
Thanks. A lot of people who have died are living a lot longer I notice. RIP Glynis Johns.
@@eamonndeane587 She's a centennial.
I kept saying "You'd better show her in the Candle Tiara from 'The Ref'" - alas, no.
What happened to the others TCM remembered in 2023?
Baby boomer:"Glynis WHO?
Actually, Boomers would know who GJ was, some younger generations might not.
@@robbarbieri8676exactly. Mary Poppins was in the 1960's. So,Boomers definitely know.😂
I’m a baby boomer and am a long time fan of ❤Glynnis Johns.
was hoping for hearing her too, perhaps copyright issues.... RIP Glynis, you were FAB!
They often don't have dialogue in these tributes. Sometimes they do, but not always.
