Will the new MSI Claw 8 AI+ be the ultimate windows gaming handheld of 2024? With a larger screen and a newer Intel Lunar Lake processor, does it have what it takes to not only fix the issues of the original MSI Claw, but also assert a more dominant position in the portable gaming scene? - Наука та технологія
Does the MSI Claw 8 Ai+ have what it takes to dominate the handheld gaming market?
🤡
Short answer: it depends on intel
If they just used AMD instead of intel, this might be an ROG ally competitor. Good hardware but inefficient APU and buggy drivers.
No it doesn't. It's trash
it needs a white claw dispenser
Intel and MSI have a lot to prove with this second version. Hopefully they've learned from their debut model and come out strong once it releases. Not only should they make sure games run smoothly, but there should be a real gaming advantage over AMD to justify the Intel hardware.
Not bad but I'll wait for the Claw 3 in September and I'll get the Claw 4 for Christmas.
I'll wait for the claw 5 releases in the January sales
this one will release in september if we are lucky actually, the first Claw was rushed and they used a bad intel apu, this one seems like the real deal with Lunar Lake, and won't need a new upgrade until Intel release something new in fall 2025 or even 2026
@techtitanuk5609 what year is the msi claw 2, 3, 4, 5 coming out?
Is there really gonna be msi claw 3, 4, and 5 coming out, and do u know what year??
Juiciness, do u know the year and date msi claw 3, 4, and 5 are coming out?? 😊
Nice to see the first version is already obsolete and still not up to scratch, lets hope the new one can make us all forget about v1
Yes it does
It 550 online
with AI on the name, ha! don't keep your hopes up...
We'll need to see if the new Intel chip can deliver improved and more reliable performance. Their original Claw still gets frequent updates, but fingers crossed, out of the box the new Claw 8 doesn't have those same initial struggles.
When is the release date for Claw 8AI+
Honestly, the Claw 8 AI is looking like a handheld PC unicorn to me. Literally everything we know about it is on my wishlist for perfect handheld...except, is it HDR/OLED? If it is, it's a guaranteed buy for me. The only remaining question is whether their software is good. And the price. Though if it's cheaper than the AyaNeo Kun, it's all good.
Has VRR? Interesting.
MSI Claw 3 December 2024, still no thunderbolt 5
Does this fix the problems for MSI? 🕹
I just placed a order for the claw, and this announcement happened. I canceled it, and now we'll wait for this to come out. I'm excited
I think so. This will be an incredible device! As I said in my comment, removable controllers are the only thing missing on the new device from what it looks like. Other than that it looks like it is better than the other handhelds in every aspect.
Did they add an oculink port and use AMD instead of intel?
🤣🤣🤣
Don't believe any of the Intel marketing until we see lots of real world gaming benchmarks comparisons vs latest AMD devices.
Otherwise it will just be a second dead MSI claw Handheld.
How about MSI claw Gundam custom screen.
I’m so
Getting the claw 8 ai+
Not a fan of MSI Claw but making the screen bigger is a step in the right direction
The larger screen alone could give it a huge advantage over 7” devices.
Claw 8 looks very interesting
The bigger 8" screen might be the perfect size for a handheld.
MSI Claw's number 1 problem: Intel - inefficient, buggy drivers.
If 'Lunar Lake' can compete with AMD's low-watt gaming performance, I think I'll reconsider buying this than the Ally.
I'm not so much worried about power as eventually Intel will get there but I wonder how many issues you'd have with older games and if wrappers and new api dll k injections will work in all cases since some older games even have trouble running properly with amd vs Nvidia.
That's the big "if". Intel and MSI know what they need to do. Question is, can they get it all sorted out before release? If they can manage to make at least a few AAA titles perform significantly better than its AMD counterparts like the Ally, and at least on-par in most other games, the Claw 8 could be a really good handheld.
I am excited to see more of the newest Claw, it looks like it makes a lot of great improvements!
Lunar lake will have ram inside cpu hope they use 32…16 is suck when gpu keep 8.. and 8 for system..
32 gb has already been confirmed but I doubt it's going to be competitively priced at launch...
@@ludekmalinovic436 hopefully they can keep the pricing competitive. If not, it's going to be a hard sell, when for not much more, you could be a "real" laptop or desktop with much better performance (but of course not as portable).
This is in my opinion the perfect handheld with the exception of not having removable controllers. I want one that I can use as a tablet with m&k instead at times and without controllers in the way. Doubtful, but would be really nice if this was added before launch.
That would mean sacrificing the front facing speakers which, also the device would be too small and thick for disrupting heat hence the legion go having a much bigger screen. I don't think most of the target audience cares about their handhelds taking the place of their phones and Windows isn't great on small screens, even my 10 inch tablet has a hard time with touch targets. That and I still find Windows 10 way more touch friendly UI wise.
That would add to the cost of the device and these are already priced pretty high for what there are.
@@ZeitGeist_TV Yeah, costs so much that a $250 Switch has been doing it for years... And the Legion Go could do it... I highly doubt cost is a factor here
@@ludekmalinovic436 Any device speakers will be subpar at best, regardless of the direction they're facing. It is a terrible thing to prioritize because anyone who cares will use headphones or earbuds anyway. Also, you obviously don't buy a Windows Device with the intention of prioritizing it as a touchscreen. However, the ability to be a highly portable laptop that can hook up to a portable monitor is incredibly useful. Touchscreen compatibility is simply a lack of app support, which won't change until these type of devices make it from the niche to mainstream. But it may be nice if it does happen. If you really care about touchscreen compatibility, you can use the Linux/Android Subsystem.
Switch used old components that were outdated with low memory and an LCD that didn't have VRR or HDR and didn't need a Windows license. For MSI to do removable controllers that needs extra R&D for such a feature so it is a monetary cost regardless what another company did.
I’ll wait for the “MSI Claw 8 AI+ NextGen HD 4K HDR 6G Turbo Hyper FX” edition.
Got a glimpse of it yesterday. It's honestly a little overkill.
Looks interesting
It's 600 on bbsc
How's MSI's customer service? I like the 8 inch Claw compared to the ROG Ally X.
In general, MSI doesn't seem to have had any major let downs with their customer service.
i would be glad if the new claw coming with 32gb ram
Some newer handhelds like the XPG Nia will have upgradable RAM! (Might be up to 64gb)
@@TomsGuideUS glad to hear that things. The new era of pc handheld will be coming soon.
MSI forcing its way using intel on their first handheld is the first problem. they can fix it by using ryzen 8000 in this iteration but they instead double down on another intel. gamer just focus on gaming on handheld that amd already matured in its drivers for games.
Wow I did not expect a 2nd device so soon. Why show this off so soon
Intel Lunar Lake is the big new thing right now. Currently no release date and very little info on the new chip, but MSI wants to be the first. The original Claw is still in production and getting consistent updates and performance improvements. The Claw 8 isn’t necessarily a V2, but another model in the lineup.
@@TomsGuideUS it's more than a v2 tho, everything is changing so how is it not a v2 when the claw is struggling to sell so much so that the price was cut by a huge chunk only a couple months later?
@@ludekmalinovic436 Good question. Not sure. From what we've been told, at least for now, the two are completely different models and will both be sold at the same time. Good chance they update the original 7" model later on with the new Lunar Lake chips - but then again, they may just try to sell off all of the original 7" units and just go with the Claw 8 after.
It looks more promising than the Ally X , since this one is adopting a new gen cpu , and since the new update in the original Claw gives an important jump in performance , this new one gives us high expectations , so if the price is around 800 and the performance is above 7840u this will be my next handheld , any preliminar date of the launch ? or when will be available to be hands on ?
It's also cheap.
600 on bbsc site
I read September possibly
@@Sonsofanarchyrules678 it's also cheap

it's Intel... 💀 enough said. have you seen their first claw?! dude I would take the X any day.
I wonder, if the MSI CLAW 2, 3, 4,and 5 all gonna have 80 whatts?? Please comment ur answer what u think
MSI (& Intel) really dropped the ball with the first Claw but I think it's got potential. If they can get it right it'll be a dope comeback.
Even if they get this one right, it's still rough for people who bought the first one. Unveiling a better version 2 months after the release of the first claw just means they were already working on this before the first claw released, meaning they probably knew it wasn't going to do well. So all the people who bought the first one are kind of getting screwed here. At least with the Steam Deck and Ally the refreshes didn't come until a year+ later.
@@MrSupersonic2012 yeah that's definitely fair to say. they ought to do a trade-in program at the very least
@@MrSupersonic2012 in the case of the ally and steam deck the refreshes run basically the same when it comes to performance and the 32 gb ram leak was probably for this device so they were already planning it from the get-go for sure. They probably wanted to wait but had to rush this one to computex due to the bad sales of the claw.
Need it
okay that fallout one is really ocol
Did they get rid of Intels' useless extra cpus cores, and did they add an oculink port?
reduce those atrocious bezzels and slapn an oled on it
Hands on? Not quite.
Yeah more like hands off 😂
That sceeen is weak man. Looks like zotac steam deck oled and legion go are leadinf the pack with the dispalys.
If it was an eight inch 120hz OLED screen, that alone would be much better on battery life.
The first brand that can make that will have a huge win.
@@paulAntill Zotac Zone is already doing it.
@BeyondEllisBeck sort of yes but thiers is a 7". The 8" looms perfect but I think oled hand helds are the future for sure. I'll be going with the zone.
OLED is not much better on battery life (unless if your games use mostly dark scenes), but I think the bigger reasons are: no panel manufacturers have 8" 120Hz OLED yet (or the price is not yet reasonable) and OLED does not work well with VRR now (I would say VRR is much more necessary for gaming handhelds now than OLED)
No Oled? I don't want it 😒
MSI Clown?
msi I'm still out of my mind.
This is what the Asus rog ally 2 will look like also.
That will be interesting to see when it finally gets announced. We just had our first hands on with the Ally X and for right now they’re sticking with the 7” display… but fingers crossed!
@@TomsGuideUSDo you think Lenovo will release a revision of the Go model?
Upfront Real world gaming benchmarks Intel vs AMD latest or don't bother.
Until then I'm sticking with AMD.
Two months after the release of the first MSI law the announcement of new MSI law 🙄. Msi doesn't care about this customer who bought the first one. Maybe this one will work better than the previous one who is just garbage, if we compare it to the price and the others. I'll pass and hope MSI will disappear to this market.
These are computers, not consoles. They will always be a new one once you take it out of the box. So is it really that big of a shock that more of them. Laptops usually have like 3 models a year.
Nobody who bought the original claw (2 people in each country it released) had high expectations from it. So far msi is the only one addressing the issue of 8 inch screen while even Zotac missed the mark with its huge bezels. I’m way more excited for this than the others cause intel might actually be competitive with Lunar Lake.
@@ookamimesamruaithe bad Claw is marketing as gaming machine, not just a normal computer. even MSI marketing team doesn’t give such an excuse “it is just a computer so it works fine bla bla bla.”
@Coconutgl steam deck oled released 11 months after the 5 dollar resevation que ended. Thr rog ally released their newer rog ally x literally a year later at the same computex.
These handhelds are like laptops, even if they don't try to market as them. Conpanies are making new ones every year, it is what it is.
Nah laptops are More efficience
they never learn...tigerlake is a huge mistake by intel..
MSI: lets address these issues on the MSi CLAW... by making a new unit without those issues... fack the buyers who got the first one... they'll buy this new one too... we'll release another one if theres an issue on this one...
MSI and Intel have been releasing steady bios and driver updates which have been improving performance and reliability. It’s in a far better spot than it was on release, but they’re continuing to optimize its performance every few weeks or so.
The original is still getting steady bios and driver updates which have been improving and optimizing game performance. One of the key setbacks at launch was that games weren’t able to take full advantage of the newer Intel Arc hardware, but it is getting better.
I predict disaster again....
dude... lolll not only the MSI claw it's terrible with the drivers and Intel, but if you want to change your SSD, it's a pain... they did this on purpose. ally or the deck are much much easier to change, and duh AMD it's king for handhelds! I'm sorry I can't backup MSI ever for this. also screw AI... like for real
horrible naming
E waste
Well Claw is still worst among the 4 brands.
No oled, no buy
Is display your main factor in choosing a handheld? The OLED Steam Deck looks incredible.
they cannot expect that putting AI on this failed device will solve anything right?... I don't understand why companies keep making bad decisions. the name it's ever worse than a thought. Intel it's not ready!
