Seeing this reminds me of something that happened to me when I was a kid in the late 1960's. I was at the local Target store with a dollar and some change (big money for a Fourth Grader in 1969) and looking for a model to build. In those days, the model kit area of a discount store's toy section took up two aisles, and I was having a hard time deciding what to get. An older man (about my age now) was also looking at the available kits. He commented to me that in his day, static display kits were wooden, and you had to carefully carve them out of roughly provided shapes. Flash forward fifty years, and our local hobby shop was demonstrating a 3D Printer. A couple of boys about 10 were watching, and I couldn't resist "sagely" telling them that when I was 10, if you wanted a model, you had to buy an injection molded kit. Though I think I'll stick to the 1/72 scale Bandai kits for "Star Wars" subjects, (I wish they'd bring back their 1/48th Armor Series WW2 kits as well,) 3D Printing will fill in the gaps of subjects too-long ignored by the major model kit manufacturers. Maybe someday, someone will write the code for a Republic XF-103 Thunderwarrior, a North American XF-108 Rapier, and other models that should have been kitted back in the day, but weren't. Thanks for sharing this demonstration, and Happy Modeling - whatever method you use!
Thanks for sharing this! It's a nice story of how time passes for everyone.. I started as a kid with tin/plastic sets, 20 years later I'm 3d printing my models, it's cool but sometimes I miss "the old way"
Don't know if its just me , but the wing panel kinda has the bottom hull shape of a snow speeder. Now I'm curious if the original model makers used similar parts to make both for the movies. Thanks for sharing
Great work, already got it from the site and am looking forward to making one... Any plans for maybe a TIE-Defender? Thank you for all the cool things you make!
I have a defender that I have been working in on fortunately is is not a solid cockpit as I was creating it to fit in with my old micro machine action fleet series.
Nice model... Printed perfectly so far. I've only printed the body and the front frame and hatch. How did you get the sloped portions on the hatch and front frame smooth like that? Smaller layer height? Ironing? I also noticed it looks like your print in the video is scaled up. Maybe 2 times larger?
What setting do you use for the supports to print on the outer edges (as see by you removing them in this video) but not print supports for the underneath areas, where it bends and clicks...
Damn. Wish the centre was hollow like I've seen on other model schemes. I've 2 short cylindrical Bluetooth speakers to insert. That be bomb if it could be inserted with them grills on.
I am printing it right now. Ender 3, 0.2 mm nozzle, 0.08mm layer hight. Can you please tell me how can I access to the amazing stand you made? I wouldn't mind paying for it. A small sacrifice to bring order to the galaxy! Edit: just found it at your website. Thanks again for this amazing model
What's the point in making parts foldable? if you're going to be gluing stuff anyway? Could have an easier time designing as completely separate parts without the extra complexity of hinges and so on.
It looks great! unfortunately when I went to download it, the site told me I needed a free ticket. I'm not sure where to go from there, but if there's a chance, I'd love to add this to my 1/72 troops!
Whenever I attempt to purchase a model with a Visa gift card, it says, "Your card does not support this type of purchase." Could you please tell me why this won't work.
Awesome. Just gonna say really people complaining about having to sign up to get a free item when most do it for other stupid stuff where you dont actually get anything at all. i have bought and was able to download items for free... His site is not a scam and they have tons of cool items.. sorry for the rant but , I had to say something.
People aren’t mad that they have to sign up to get the free item. They’re mad that it is labeled as free in the video title when it’s not really free. You only get the one free download when you sign up. After that you have to use “free tickets” which require you to buy something. So let’s say someone signs up and gets this download for free. The next video he puts out is titled “free (insert object name)”, now that person goes to get the free download and finds out they can’t, unless they have a “free ticket” which requires a purchase of something. That’s why people are mad. Not because they have to sign up, but because it’s very misleading to say they’re “free” when they really aren’t.
@@ICEgoalieWARRIOR I get that part, it was just the fact that , when people complain they never give good reason which makes others question them. Of course everyone wants stuff for free. But I do get what you're saying. I bet a lot of people don't even bother to look at what they have on his site. His prices are pretty good, and when you do buy something you do get an option for a free item. He does offer free stuff you just have to look for it. Anyway have a good day.
Why are any stl. designers rehashing models that are available as licensed kits? Worse, the designers are calling it "fan art". 🤔 Why not create real fan art for the "unseen."
When you subscribe (which is free) you are then given a ticket (which is free). After that, it becomes a buy 1 get 1 free type of format. He's gone and done all the work, he should make some money for his efforts. Don't be so entitled. No need for name calling.
@@mikemayoral7356 nobody cares that they have to pay. Creators should be compensated for their time. What people have an issue with is when creators mislead their customer base, which is exactly what he’s doing here. It’s not free, it’s free to new people who sign up. Then if that person wants any of the other “free” files, they must make a purchase, which gives them a “free ticket” that has an expiration date. So no it’s really not like a buy one get one.
@@ICEgoalieWARRIOR How you're trying to rationalize this is beyond mental gymastics. You just admitted its free to those who sign up. Is there anything within the video that implies any other stl file as being free? NO! And you're wrong. Read the comments. There are plenty of comments saying they're upset because it's not free...which it is. Nobody was mislead. Just people who have a common condition of entitlement.
@@fab365_official why do you keep responding with this? Its not an answer. And the worst thing is, there's no obvious way to buy it since I have no ticket. So I literally can't get it. What's the business model here?
