They started out Indie and were picked up by the Rolling Star label about 2 years into their career. Starting Indie in South Korea is almost unheard of and does require a lot of talent.
If you liked Rolling Quartz then you will love Dreamcatcher. They're a kpop girl group that incorporates rock/metal with pop/edm sounds. And because this they are known as the "face of rock in kpop". Rock isn't that popular in Korea and hence doesn't receive the kind of appreciation as it gets from other parts of the world. It's a major reason why Dreamcatcher are not as popular in Korea as they are elsewhere. They have persevered and stayed true to their sound while inspiring other groups and also Rolling Quartz. Fun fact: as a tribute, Rolling Quartz also covered one of Dreamcatcher's songs - Goodnight
If you liked this I definitely recommend Dreamcatcher. They are a very diverse kpop group which always incorporates (some) elements of rock(/metal) in their main songs. For the "b-sides" they do everything some straight up rock/metal, some edm or funky or pop, you name it. One of their newer main tracks which I recommend is Bon Voyage which seems like a "generic" love song but is actually directed to earth itself. Dreamcatcher stays a kpop group so dont expect them to for example play instruments but what you should expect is kpop with a rock/metal edge. For another track from Rolling Quartz I think their debut "Blaze" is very good. And they also did a cover of a earlier Dreamcatcher song "Good Night" which was awesome. Anyways, love your reactions so I'm looking forward to what you will react to next!
The growl you're hearing in the background is Arem's bassline. My favorite thing about this band is that Arem creates a harder edge to the guitars, drums, and vocals without overwhelming the other instruments. Usually, by destroying her C or D cords. The overall sound simpky wouldn't be possible without the whole of everything.
Thank you for the Rolling Quartz reaction. I recommend Azalea, Good Night, and Sing Your Hear out. These songs are not Rolling Quartz's original songs, but they will be good K-pop introductions for you.
Guessing first listen to Rolling Quartz. You seemed to really like this one, then you should check out their newest release - Victory. I can not get enough of Rolling Quartz
Jayoung was on King of the Masked Singer (Korean Competition show) and made it to the 3rd round. She's really talented. Her vocals on Azalea are amazing. Just be aware that the K-entertainment (rock/pop/drama) rabbit hole is pretty deep. :)
On occasion, they do perform live concerts on UA-cam. Free to watch and they go through the comments throughout the show. Donations are not discouraged. They haven't been able to lately, they have been on a world tour. Hope the best for all these ladies.
"Iree ... be serious, can you please stop grinning for a minute ... stop it. Mr. Han, can you make her stop? ... just tell her something sad. Nope ... still grinning. Nevermind, just take the shot".
That’s a new band for me. I will have to find some more. Beautiful ladies, especially that drummer. I don’t remember if you have had LoveBites or Nemophila on your channel yet, both from Japan, but I highly recommend both.
Yes! Find more Rolling Quartz! Specifically: Blaze, Delight, Higher, Holler, Rock'n'Roll Paradize, Dynamite rock version, Good Night, Pink Drop, Zitti E Buoni, Azalea, and Vision.
Angry out... Sweaty man out... Need for aggression... Only on their instruments... The vocalist in this band is world class... Vocal range is slightly limited.. but her tone is top five in the world. But really the whole band is really good... The hidden gem is the blonde guitar player.. very diverse... And again ,you have to look hard but she's able to do....
Hello Miss Ray! I hope you are having a wonderful day! Thank you for reacting to Rolling Quartz, they do have a lot of great songs and are doing really well considering how saturated the Korean music scene is with pop music. A couple of other Korean rock bands are really good too, DIH (those are initials, not the name) and The Fix are the only two I can remember right now, I'm sure I'll think of more after I type this. One of the Japanese bands you reacted to live was Band Maid, and you seemed to really like them. Speaking of Band Maid, you should try their official live video of "Hate?" I think you will really like it, especially the lyrics. Please take care and have an amazing week.
My introduction to Rolling Quartz was their first single, "Blaze", that came out at the end of 2020. Amazing/fun song. Though, when it comes to Rolling Quartz, all of their videos are visually stunning. But, "Blaze" is definitely a song worth checking out. And as far as other bands go, here are a few recommendations (all female-fronted, all European): Beyond the Black Visions of Atlantis Phantom Elite Enemy Inside Frozen Crown Couple of notes: 1. Frozen Crown is the only one of the bunch that I haven't seen live. 2. Beyond the Black is at the other end of the spectrum in that I've seen them 14 times live. 3. Visions of Atlantis is the only one that I've seen live both in the US and in Europe. 4. Based on everything in your channel, i don't believe that you have reacted to any of these bands...yet. 5. Happy exploring.
I discovered these girls a few months ago. They have just brought out their second EP, Victory. Oh and if you watch any of their other videos, one of the things I love is they are all trying to look so serious and moody, but Iree (the guitarist with red hair) is like "fuck that, I am here to be happy" and doesn't stop smiling.
RQ discography: Blaze Fighting Hybrid Fearless ... and now includes Victory. Blaze and possibly Fighting are now a bit difficult to get on physical media.
@@PANIC_aka_PinD Blaze, Fighting and Hybrid were essentially just singles with only two tracks, or a bunch of alternate versions of the main song. Fearless can still be picked up easily on Amazon UK but it is hella expensive for a 2 track CD. I was lucky enough to buy Fighting on CD back in Feb on Amazon UK.
@@caphowdy666 I was lucky enough to have the band send me my copy of BLAZE ... unfindable now. From the USA I order direct from a record store in Korea. I think all of their physical media is worth having ☺.

Right now it's July 2024 they were in Los Angeles the end of 23... That was their first time.. they were at a festival in Sacramento before and I believe in Washington DC the year prior...
Rock is more underground as a genre in Korea. Others have mentioned Dreamcatcher. Solo idol AleXa's 2024 tracks, "Sick", "Distraction", and "I'm Okay" are veering towards rock, or at least Avril Lavigne pop/punk, and are 100% English. The rest of her discography is mixed language but tends to favor English. Rolling Quartz & AleXa have collabed 2x, on a rock version of AleXa's "Xtra", then again on a rock mashup of Blackpink's "Pink Venom" and BTS's "Mic Drop" called "Pink Drop". I could do a whole post on AleXa alone, but I'll hold off unless you ask for it.
Been listening to RQ for a bit now. Fun stuff. Also... RA? TA? TA? TA? Edit: For a lot people their Korean music experience doesn't get much past BlackPink and BTS.
Rolling Quartz is Korean. And also amazing. Rolling Quartz is best K-rock. Everything they've done is amazing. When they debuted with "Blaze" I thought it was the best new rock song I'd heard in around a decade... There's some other K-rock out there. I can also recommend Memi (her songs "Guitar Pick," "I don't give a," and "Hate U" are good). Babymetal is Japanese, not Korean, and there's a fairly large and (I've heard) quite good J-rock scene. I'm not, personally, all that familiar with it so I have no specific recommendations. If you want something that's just... different, I can recommend "Otyken" (siberain) and "The Hu" (mongolian). Some Otyken songs you might consider checking out: "Phenomenon," "Smoke," "Legend," and "Pulse." My favorite song from The Hu is "Wolf Totem." I can also recommend tons of Kpop, of particular note: Dreamcatcher is very rock-and-roll for a Kpop Idol group, and they're also amazingly talented. Literally everything from Dreamcatcher is fantastic and I kinda recommend starting at the beginning with the Nightmare series ("Chase me," "Good Night," "You and I," "Fly High," "What," and "Piri")... but starting with something more recent is fine if you want to. I'm personally quite fond of "Vision," "Scream" is often a top recommendation by other Dreamcatcher fans. "Deja Vu" isn't really connected to their stoylines, so it's a nice intro to what their music is like if you don't want to jump into a trilogy. I always recommend (G)I-dle. They're unique, being largely self-produced with the leader Soyeon usually being involved in the song-writing, composition, and arrangement. Minnie and Yuqi have also taken the lead on writing/producing a couple of their songs. Of (G)I-dle's most iconic songs, "Tomboy" is the most rock-and-roll. So I do recommend everything from (G)I-dle, but "Tomboy" is a great place to start. PS: I think you might need to check out "Pink Drop" by Rolling Quartz, featuring Alexa.
I love these girls. Right now hands down the best band out of the east right now is Band Maid out of Japan. These girls are masters of their instruments. Band Maid, Rolling Quartz, Nemophila, Lovebites all badass female bands that rock.
No Blackpink? I think the most interesting thing about girls in rock (The Warning, Band-Maid & Rolling Quartz) is they all seem to have a good time playing compared to most male bands
SICK!...these ladies rock! 🤘
Ja Young-Energetic Vocalist
Arem-Badass Bassist
IREE-Smiley Guitarist
Jung Hyun-Intense Guitarist
Jeong Eun-Beautiful Drummer
Their new videos, One and Victory, are excellent
Korean pop group with rock sound Dreamcatcher is also a fun experience
Rolling Quartz has covered one of their songs, "Good Night"
These girls have been marketed absolutely brilliantly on UA-cam. Beautiful girls, great attitude, catchy pop rock.
They started out Indie and were picked up by the Rolling Star label about 2 years into their career.
Starting Indie in South Korea is almost unheard of and does require a lot of talent.

I really love this band, they create a really great music, nice reaction =)
If you want a rock sound in K-pop, listen to Dreamcatcher's Chase Me and Good Night.

There is a few Korean rock bands.... Lot more Japanese rock bands in metal....
Try the Korean female band DIH with the song Bang Bang, it’s a cover song and they do a killer job.
How about.. Legends Never Die (superband 2) Kim YeJi ? I strongly recommend it.
The Japanese are probably producing the best music in the world right now. The Koreans are not far behind.
