When you look at a number of markets where the NHL has placed franchises - Seattle, Las Vegas, Columbus, Nashville, Raleigh-Durham - you will notice a common denominator: NON-NBA cities!
Before the NHL returned to Winnipeg, the city had the CFL, AHL and Independent baseball. The market was balanced and all three teams drew comparable numbers over the course of their respective seasons, around 250,000 per team. The moment the NHL returned to Winnipeg, it became a CLEARLY over-saturated market. Winnipeg has since got a new basketball team in the CEBL - which plays in the Jets' home building - and actually set attendance records for their league in the team's inaugural season. It also has a new CPL soccer team which, given the folding of the franchise in Edmonton, I just don't see the league surviving long-term. If you compare what Winnipeg has compared to the likes of Quebec City and Hamilton, it's plain to see that Winnipeg has more than its fair share of sports teams. Nowhere in Canada is the competition for the sports entertainment dollar more fierce than in it is in Winnipeg, and with post-Covid inflation taking its toll on people's finances, it's going to be a struggle for the market to keep all those franchises profitable. Here's a rough estimation of the total fans required by sports teams in Winnipeg in order to break even in a typical year: Jets: 600,000 Blue Bombers: 250,000 Moose (AHL): 200,000 Goldeyes (AAIB): 200,000 Sea Bears (CEBL): 50,000 Total: 1.3 million fans in a market of 835,000
San Jose Sharks were drawing very well prior to covid and back when the team was competitive. If the one ice product gets better the fans will be back. The owner is committed to being successful. The rebuild is in full swing. They should be fine.
@@stanfordite1 I hope I am wrong, lol. I still follow them even though I'm in Kraken territory now, but the Sharks aren't going anywhere anytime soon. They even have BART headed towards the SAP Center now.

San Jose has the 49ers so they can handle the Sharks. They need a team that can win 30 games a year at least. 15 wins a season isn't going to draw anyone.
I know buffalos attendance causes worry but they’re still one of the largest tv markets, the team just needs to be not complete garbage for a few years 😂
As someone who lives less than two miles from the tank and has been going to sharks games my whole life, I think the sharks main issue right now is that a large chunk of people from San Jose/The Bay as a whole had to jump ship because of a skyrocketing cost of living. It makes it a hell of a lot harder to get a new wave of fans when half of your old guard ain’t there to help bring them in. In conclusion, they really oughta build more houses here so it doesn’t cost so damn much
Also, I will come to the defence of Calgary, The money has been approved for the building over a year ago now. just recently begun survey and visiting the site which the arena is going to be built on. It’s not a matter if the Calgary right now it’s a matter of when and I think the when is sooner than you think.
Ducks will remain in Anaheim for another 25 years as their new lease was renewed. Also the O.C Vibe is under construction as we speak as the Anaheim Ducks owners have already made the funds to upgrade the surrounding areas. The city of Anaheim has approved the project as they are also funding support of 4 billion.
There are hardly any reasons for the Panthers to relocate. Please do a little bit of research before just looking at pictures of the stadium and coming to a decision.
Second video of his I’ve seen that bashes the Panthers arena just because he doesn’t like it. I get it, I’d rather they play in downtown Miami with the Heat or in a new building next to Hard Rock, but Amerant Arena was just renovated, and the Panthers renovated old Ft. Lauderdale War Memorial Auditorium as their practice facilities. With that and the recent success, this team isn’t going anywhere.
True North owns both the Canada Life Centre & the Jets. The economy in Winnepeg which is why the Jets attendance is down. True north just put $13M in improvements into the arena and srunk the size of the seating bowl from 15,321 to 15,225 by adding a high revenue club option in the end the jets shoot twice. They aren't going anywhere.
Another thing lots of the teams you’re listing here are going for rebuilds right now. Example the sharks they’re going for a rebuild and they’re in a non-traditional hockey market. The numbers are gonna drop, but they’re not going to relocate there’s more of a chance of the San Jose Sharks winning the Stanley Cup then of the San Jose Sharks relocating and yes, I cheer for hockey team
There is not a NHL franchise with bad ticket/merch sales. A few are having lulls but as others have stated, it's simply due to other factors like team performance. Not because its a bad fit currently. Winnipeg is an exception but even they have taken major steps to ensure 24-25 ticket sales increase
I’m starting to question wether any of these teams need new arenas because I go to the Florida panthers arena all the time and it seems like like a perfectly fine up to date arena. No way they do anything for the next ten years at least.
Amerant Bank Arena is not horrible in the least 💀 the concourse is buzzing, landscaping is nice, nothing is falling apart/old, there’s always something new added each year. it’s just far west
Only place I see them moving is closer to Ft Lauderdale, but they’re filling the stadium. I wouldn’t change anything. Smarter move might be to reduce capacity in the parking lot and make some retail/restaurant/apartments there
None of those teams are relocating. You just basically read off the bottom teams in this year’s standings. It’s also not a regular occurrence. NFL teams move just as much, if not more. The original Winnipeg Jets became the Coyotes and now are going to Utah. Besides that franchise, there’s been Quebec to Colorado, Hartford to Carolina and Atlanta to Winnipeg. I think that’s it going back to the 70s.

As a panthers fan, it would make more sense for the arena to be in Miami or ft. Lauderdale then sunrise. Sunrise is very inconvenience unless you live towards sunrise
Miami’s population is majority Latino and Caribbean people. They don’t care about Hockey. That is why the Panthers choose to move to Broward county in the first place.
Winnipeg Jets have the richest own in all the NHL, surely he can wrote bigger checks and make his team win a Stanley Cup. He is many times richer than any of the other owner. Even some combined. Don’t believe me that that writing checks works, just keep in mind that the Texas Rangers which were one of the worst MLB teams of all time won a World Series. And it’s all because their owner wrote so many checks to hire the best of the best, that his pen caught on fire.

Was just at Capital One Arena (D.C.) , it was a dump. Very tight, feels claustrophobic. It seems like crap compared to the Orlando Solar Bears Kia arena in Orlando FL. And that's an ECHL team!
A relocation is the least of the concerns for the Sharks. The issue of them is the product of the team which hasnt been competitive for a while, which they understand that they are in a full rebuild. You had seen its very different atmosphere in the arena when the Sharks are actually competitive, they are loud and passionate as they represent not only San Jose, but the whole bay area. And it will be back once they reach to those heights again.

This is the same guy who in another video said the Flyers might move to the Sixers new arena at Market East! Is he even a real person, or some sort of AI generated bot that just makes things up?
The Sixers new arena would only be for the Sixers. No way in hell the Flyers are moving out of Wells Fargo anytime soon, especially after recent renovations that were done. Plus the Flyers outright own that arena.
Why do you base relocation based on renovation of the exterior of the building? Most arena's are buried by building's like boston, San francisco, Washington d.c,?
Sharks will not be leaving San Jose. Sharks have a huge presence in SF Bay Area, youth hockey program in 3 different locations and San Jose Barracuda, AHL Minor League team as well.
Winnipeg ain't going anywhere they've only been back in the league for 12 years and they're building for the future they are the next franchise in my opinion
If Anaheim ever moves, they will more than likely move down to San Diego because San Diego is one of the biggest and most untapped markets in North American sports without an NHL team right next to Orange County, as well as the fact that it's a huge hockey market. Their AHL affiliate, the San Diego Gulls, is consistently near the top of AHL attendance.
@@bufnyfan1 Damn, I really hope so. The Chargers and Clippers should never have moved. They only moved because of greedy owners itching to cash on the far bigger profits in LA.
Yes, but biggest issue there is building a new arena. Would it ever happen. Recall it was the failure to build a new area, and get the Clippers out of the old San Diego Sports Arena, that largely led to their relocating to Los Angeles.
Yeah, but I still feel Donald Sterling was an idiot. Okay, wanted to move the Clippers but why did he move them straight to Los Angeles knowing he would have ZERO chance to compete against the Lakers? Orange County would have made far more sense.
The Sharks & city of San Jose just sunk $300 million on the Sharks ice, which is 5 miles from the SAP center. They added a 4,200 seat area and added 2 more sheets of ice to the complex. The Arena was for their minor league, AHL Barracuda. I've talked to Jonathan Becher, the president of the Sharks, who says they were worried about Google & the tech center that has now been canceled. Becher invisions a MSG type retrofit of SAP center. The location is perfect, with the trasit hub directly across the street and parking options all around the arena. The Sharks poor attendance is directly attributed to their on ice performance. They aren't going anywhere.
The Panthers arena is clearly getting old at like 31 years old but they're in a pretty busy area in the western Broward suburbs, just across the street from the arena is Sawgrass Mills an outlet mall that rivals Disney World in how many people go there yearly so the location is good but if they were to rebuild the arena there would they share the Heat arena during construction, theyve played so long in western Broward it would be weird to see them back in Miami,or maybe they could just do a refurb of the arena.
Sabers: I don’t think they should leave Buffalo, it’s a nice winter city. Sharks: It makes more sense if they play in downtown town San Francisco area. Jets: They don’t need to leave Winnipeg twice.
No- it was built specifically for basketball. A massive renovation would need to take place if they were to try and put a hockey rink in, along with adding all the systems for it.
the league isn't going to move another team because of bad PR......No team is going to move because its not needed....the only reason Arizona is moving is because they had to intervene the league tried everything to keep them from moving and they also agreed to an expansion if they build a new arena to bring the coyotes back.
The Jets also started to sell out again around this past NYE. Their situation is hardly desperate, but of course, some people just have to cause a stir for attention.
Makes me believe Depressed Ginger has never set foot in the Bay Area. SJ a “quirky” city? It has the largest population of the three major cities that comprise the Bay Area. The SF 49ers also play in Santa Clara County. The comments about Oakland and the A’s are usually off base. Sharks attendance stinks because the team is bad. It should start coming back next season as soon as the team shows any signs of improvement. Another bizarre and shallow video.
This man just doesn't understand. I'm sure he has never been to San Jose-with what's going on right now there'll be BART coming to the nearby San Jose Diridon Station (SJC), and there's of course, Amtrak, Caltrain and even Altamont Commuter Express (ACE), so strategically there can be fans from Stockton and Merced too. (Let's not forget the VERY SLOW build of the high-speed rail being built in California- San Jose will be its stop when completed, and some will say that Diridon will be the Grand Central Station of the West.) I know, it is a few years of rebuilding and it's the most horrific record ever for the franchise winning only 19 games, but they do have lots of potential and with the current TV right of NBC Sports California what would be a megapolis of San Francisco-Oakland-San Jose-Sacramento-Monterey (and a tiny possibility of Fresno or Bakersfield and even up to Crescent City), hockey is key for the NHL in Northern California, and it's extremely unlikely for them to leave the sixth largest metro population's US Media market. They may not have to attend-they can always follow on TV, radio or online whether or not the team is good. Let us not forget it's growing in the area for talent-this year, there is rookie goalie Devin Cooley playing for the Sharks and he's from the suburb of Los Gatos. It's inevitable-every team will have a down year. But to simply have the Sharks be moving out because of attendance and not so much interest because it was an expected rebuild is sheer ridiculousness. Besides, Hasso Plattner is CEO of SAP and owns the team. It is understandable that soon the SAP Center will have to be replaced, but with the infrastructure-three airports, many rail systems, a diverse freeway system, lots of public transportation-including a possibility of going to and from San Jose by ferry in the future, lots of local restaurants and lodging for the visitors in San Jose and its associated two other large Bay Area cities, the city has hosted the All-Star game twice so far, and the fanbase is passionate enough to last a very long time, this is
Can't imagine the sharks ever leaving, but they do need to start winning again... we need the next generation of hockey fans to fill these Ice rinks. I think there will always be enough population and money in silicone valley/Bay Area to support the sharks. . We have so many sharks ice's in the Bay Area. 3 ices in San Jose. 2 ices in Oakland. multiple ices @ their Fremont ice rink. Multiple other ice rinks around the Bay Area. Seasonal ice rinks in over half a dozen cities. Had pond hockey ODR in Walnut Creek for the 5th year last Christmas.
There goes the familiar slogan: "If you build it, they will come." Relocating teams somewhere will add some burden on the owners (too rich for the latter?).

It's in a prime downtown location in DC, right on top of 3 of the 6 subway lines in the Metro. Most fans take the train to get to games and it works really well. That was one of the major reasons the Capital One Arena was built in that location in the first place.
If Buffalo moves, that's an if, Hamilton, ONT should be the consideration. Its not far from the existing market. It would also be essentially a Toronto 2.0 franchise (where there is also a demand), and also draw fans from the Niagara Peninsula, and Kitchener-Waterloo. Hamilton may be a bit better than Buffalo as a market.
The second the Sabres have a winning team, the KeyBank Center will be full (like it was for the first 8 years of the drought). Hard to get people to go when the team hasn’t made the playoffs in 13 years
The problem with Winnipeg Jets is not the fact that they are selling at 90% capacity. It is due to the fact they attract very little in terms of coporate sponsorship. Simply because there are not that many major corporations based out of Winnipeg.

Here's a rough estimation of the total fans required by sports teams in Winnipeg in order to break even in a typical year:
Jets: 600,000
Blue Bombers: 250,000
Moose (AHL): 200,000
Goldeyes (AAIB): 200,000
Sea Bears (CEBL): 50,000
Total: 1.3 million fans in a market of 835,000
San Jose Sharks were drawing very well prior to covid and back when the team was competitive. If the one ice product gets better the fans will be back. The owner is committed to being successful. The rebuild is in full swing. They should be fine.
They were good for about 15 years in a row but couldn’t get it done
Most of the real Sharks fans who grew up with the team in the ‘90’s and 2000’s moved out of California.

There's no way Buffalo will relocate. You are NUTS!
But but but our arena is barebones..
This guy has a hard on for arenas.
We are a hockey mad market .. put a product on the ice and we will sell out in droves....
So dumb
San Jose has the 49ers so they can handle the Sharks. They need a team that can win 30 games a year at least. 15 wins a season isn't going to draw anyone.
The Niners are in Santa Clara.
I know buffalos attendance causes worry but they’re still one of the largest tv markets, the team just needs to be not complete garbage for a few years 😂
If you take Toronto/GTA out of the market share Buffalo is the 48th largest market in the US so its not large at all.
Buffalo one of the largest TV markets? They are 54 in the US, just ahead of Fort Myers, Richmond, Mobile, Wilkes Barre, Little Rock, and Albany.
@@PoliticallyIncorrect90I think he means TV ratings. Buffalo is always amongst the leagues best for hockey TV ratings
@@PoliticallyIncorrect90 for the nhl dude, thought that was self explanatory
@imsquidward5187 Buffalo is not one of the larger markets in the league. They are the smallest in the US for NHL teams at #25.
In conclusion, they really oughta build more houses here so it doesn’t cost so damn much
Nice doing no research. Caps (monumental sports) and DC agreed weeks ago to renovate the arena and extend the lease by 25 years.
to that they won the stanley cup a few years back they aint going nowhere
My Dude. No one is going anywhere. They all have solid ownership.
Also, I will come to the defence of Calgary, The money has been approved for the building over a year ago now. just recently begun survey and visiting the site which the arena is going to be built on. It’s not a matter if the Calgary right now it’s a matter of when and I think the when is sooner than you think.
Calgary will likely start digging after Stampede this year.
Stupid video. No other NHL team is moving.
Winnipeg isn't going anywhere. The owner is a multi billionaire. As for the rest of the teams, they're not moving either.
They sold out every game except for the last 2 years, something happened to keep fans away
@@michaelleroy9281 Yep, and it's called post-Covid inflation.
Sharks and the NHL are not leaving San Jose. San Jose actually supports their team unlike Oakland.
the panthers aren’t moving, we locals love the free parking
And you don't move a team right after they win the Stanley Cup...
Sharks relocate? they sit in the middle of the $, even in the worst times
Winnipeg and Buffalo are going nowhere.
Okay, now what about the Angels?
None of these teams have expressed relocation ever
No way Jets are moving after they get this team from Atlanta.
There are hardly any reasons for the Panthers to relocate. Please do a little bit of research before just looking at pictures of the stadium and coming to a decision.
He doesn’t
They also added Loge seating options on the upper deck and replaced the scoreboard within recent years also. The building itself is in good shape.
I don't see anything wrong with Winnipeg's arena.
Winnipeg gives Canada a great "heartland" presence. All six other Canadian teams fairly close to an ocean coast.
@@robertlindey2538 Yeah, I hope Winnipeg keeps the Jets; I would also be in favor of a franchise in Quebec City.
@@johnhenryNC Once the NHL returns to Quebec City, all will be whole again. Canada won't need any more teams.
There is not a NHL franchise with bad ticket/merch sales. A few are having lulls but as others have stated, it's simply due to other factors like team performance. Not because its a bad fit currently. Winnipeg is an exception but even they have taken major steps to ensure 24-25 ticket sales increase
Winning jets,San Jose, buffalo, they staying no teams is moving any time soon for real 🤔
The Panthers arena is in a great location. It is in the same parking lot as a huge outlet mall and the neighborhood is very safe.
Only place I see them moving is closer to Ft Lauderdale, but they’re filling the stadium. I wouldn’t change anything. Smarter move might be to reduce capacity in the parking lot and make some retail/restaurant/apartments there
They do have new apartments there.
True on the location. And I live there.
@@daviejz6698oh yeah for sure! The only pain is living East and traveling through rush hour 😅
With the Yotes move, the NHL is probably the most stable league in North America when it comes to relocations.
There's nothing wrong with Canada Life Centre.
Why is everything with you based on “arena situation”? If Buffalo or Columbus put winning teams on the ice, their arenas would be full.
As a Sabres fan,we would sell out keybank center but are team is not that good right now
90% of his videos are about arenas and stadium situations.
@@Red-Bull-Insider not that good right now??? try 13 years out of the playoffs. And why is it that former players on the Sabres following trades went on to win Stanley Cups with their new teams (Ryan O'Reilly, Jack Eichel, Sam Reinhart)? It is because there is a losing atmosphere that permeates the Sabres organization from the top to the bottom. I don't think any players really want to play there
The Ducks’ lease at the Honda center goes until 2048, I doubt they’re going anywhere
Whenever one team relocates, especially when it's over an arena, other teams use that as leverage to get either renovations or a new arena.
Ottawa would be relocating back to downtown because they play like 40 mins outside it
These stadiums built in the 90's-00's just didn't hold up like those built back in the 60's
You can take Winnipeg off of this list.
Now why would Winnipeg be moving when they been begging for their teams back for years!!???
As a panthers fan, it would make more sense for the arena to be in Miami or ft. Lauderdale then sunrise. Sunrise is very inconvenience unless you live towards sunrise
Attendance would drop if the arena would be in Miami lol
Miami’s population is majority Latino and Caribbean people. They don’t care about Hockey. That is why the Panthers choose to move to Broward county in the first place.
Marlins Park. 😆
Panthers need to leave Florida, no way should Florida have more teams than Texas
@@Christian-xf4xm no way that's happening
Jets aren't gonna move. Bettman should've told Chipman to give him the Ronson cans You don't know shit. Drink tequila backwards.
Sabres announced several arena renovations a couple months, they're changing the roof and getting a new jumbotron
Dude Wpg has one of the richest men on earth as it’s part owner - that team is never moving. He and The majority owner have said so. And they make bank. They. Aint. Moving. Lol. Great clickbait tho. But stop being such an uneducated UA-camr. The building has been completely renovated in the last few years and it’s a great place to experience a game.
Winnipeg? Of all the teams listed, but even that is a longshot at this time!!
Columbus crew won mls cup last season
He also thinks MB stadium is the worst soccer stadium 😆. He rated yankee stadium as better. Having lived in Atlanta and from New York that’s just crazy.
San Jose is not going anywhere. They invest in the arena. It was Wilson who killed the cap effecting to sign players
This is the same guy who in another video said the Flyers might move to the Sixers new arena at Market East! Is he even a real person, or some sort of AI generated bot that just makes things up?
Dude just says things without doing an ounce of research. If you look for it you'll find numerous mistakes in most of his videos
I think the only renovation Amerant Bank Arena (Panthers) needs is a new coat of paint on the roof.
He said the Blue Jackets are the only professional team based in Columbus. There are other professional teams based in the city. i.e. Crew (MLS).
Winnepig is not moving. Canada economy is sucking now
Sharks will not be leaving San Jose.
It’s amazing how many cities have hockey teams THAT DONT DESERVE THEM
They all play in cities that the NHL wanted to be in instead of vice versa.
San Diego is the 8th largest market in the US and I'm sure that both the NHL and eventually the NFL will return
@@bufnyfan1 Damn, I really hope so. The Chargers and Clippers should never have moved. They only moved because of greedy owners itching to cash on the far bigger profits in LA.
@@bufnyfan1I could see NHL but the NFL is done forever in San Diego.
Is the Chase Center, where the

nah
i think oakland arena is, but the sharks ain’t going nowhere
@@idiotcow3721 thanks.
If they relocate to a market where the NHL has expansion plans we might see a similar situation to the Coyotes.
maybe watch a Winnipeg playoff they are not moving anytime soon.
Of course he hasn’t , he’s some nerd that uses a mic
This man just doesn't understand. I'm sure he has never been to San Jose-with what's going on right now there'll be BART coming to the nearby San Jose Diridon Station (SJC), and there's of course, Amtrak, Caltrain and even Altamont Commuter Express (ACE), so strategically there can be fans from Stockton and Merced too. (Let's not forget the VERY SLOW build of the high-speed rail being built in California- San Jose will be its stop when completed, and some will say that Diridon will be the Grand Central Station of the West.)
I know, it is a few years of rebuilding and it's the most horrific record ever for the franchise winning only 19 games, but they do have lots of potential and with the current TV right of NBC Sports California what would be a megapolis of San Francisco-Oakland-San Jose-Sacramento-Monterey (and a tiny possibility of Fresno or Bakersfield and even up to Crescent City), hockey is key for the NHL in Northern California, and it's extremely unlikely for them to leave the sixth largest metro population's US Media market.
It is understandable that soon the SAP Center will have to be replaced, but with the infrastructure-three airports, many rail systems, a diverse freeway system, lots of public transportation-including a possibility of going to and from San Jose by ferry in the future, lots of local restaurants and lodging for the visitors in San Jose and its associated two other large Bay Area cities, the city has hosted the All-Star game twice so far, and the fanbase is passionate enough to last a very long time, this is
Buffalo and Winnipeg could afford new arenas if they stopped letting the leafs live rent free in their fans heads.
I'm unsubscribing from this garbage, nothing you say is concrete its just your speculation!
I don't even think what he says can count as speculation lol
Exactly
Build an arena in Niagara Falls for the Sabres and rename the team to something to do with the Niagara region and it would also cover Hamilton.
There goes the familiar slogan: "If you build it, they will come." Relocating teams somewhere will add some burden on the owners (too rich for the latter?).
The Sharks are not going anywhere and SAP Center isn’t even bad for its age. I’ve been going to SAP since 2012 when WWE Smackdown was there and it’s still a great arena

How is the Capital One Arena in a bad location?
It's in a prime downtown location in DC, right on top of 3 of the 6 subway lines in the Metro. Most fans take the train to get to games and it works really well. That was one of the major reasons the Capital One Arena was built in that location in the first place.
Actually the jets owner just literally came out and said needs get better. Jets will b first to move. Only owner on list who has suggested it
If Buffalo moves, that's an if, Hamilton, ONT should be the consideration. Its not far from the existing market. It would also be essentially a Toronto 2.0 franchise (where there is also a demand), and also draw fans from the Niagara Peninsula, and Kitchener-Waterloo. Hamilton may be a bit better than Buffalo as a market.
Sharks and jets could relocate when Arizona gets it's team back. Jets should move to Atlanta and sharks could move to Portland
The Sharks are NOT leaving San Jose. End of story.
Neither team is relocating, and there is no guarantee Arizona is getting another team.
Sharks never relocating plus why would the NHL ever abandon the San Francisco Bay Area again?
The second the Sabres have a winning team, the KeyBank Center will be full (like it was for the first 8 years of the drought). Hard to get people to go when the team hasn’t made the playoffs in 13 years
I don't think Winnipeg is relocating. I am surprised they don't sell out every game considering their seating capacity is 15,000.
The problem with Winnipeg Jets is not the fact that they are selling at 90% capacity. It is due to the fact they attract very little in terms of coporate sponsorship. Simply because there are not that many major corporations based out of Winnipeg.
