I’m born and raised in San Jose. I’m Mexican, so I grew up mostly watching soccer and baseball with my dad. But when I was 17 in 2014 I decided to get into hockey with the Sharks because they’re my hometown team. Absolutely fell in love with the game and the organization. I remember growing up being surrounded by Sharks ads and having Sharkie visit my elementary school when I was a kid. I remember the days of Jumbo Patty, I remember Raffi Torres being a huge problem for the league lol, but most importantly I remember the buzz around the city as we got closer to 2016 and getting to the finals. I’ve been following the Sharks very closely for a decade now, and I love to see them improving and becoming the team I knew as a kid. For the last few years people have been shitting on the Sharks, completely forgetting that they were quite dominant in the west for 10 years. Guys like Patty and Jumbo are legends, they certainly deserved a cup but that’s just the way the game is. I play beer league at Sharks ice and I still see legends around the rink, I’ve met guys like Ricci and Patty just walking around the rink. Funnily enough I was getting my skates sharpened at the pro shop when the guy with the most games played in the NHL walked in. First time in my life I’d been starstruck 😂
About 12-13 years ago I found myself hankering for a west coast team to pull for. My work/sleep/eat schedule changed, and I wanted to listen--yes, listen-- to a team I cared about. So, I decided to care for the Sharks. It's been great. Rangers still my #1, but I've come to love the Sharks as well. Bi-coastal, I guess, though I live in Texas. Well, you asked!
Been a fan since Day 1...Was a Blues fan in the 80s after seeing an article in SI about Brett Hull even though there was no way in Modesto CA to ever see live hockey, I started to follow the team after they began in 1991, and loved a few years later when you could walk up to the ticket window and get lower bowl seats for $17.... The playoff upset over the Red Wings a few years in sealed my fandom. I now live in a neighborhood in SJ where many of the players live so it's cool to see them around town. Was at Safeway buying diapers at 11 PM on a Saturday after watching a game on TV and ME Vlasic who was a 2nd year pro at the time got in line behind me. Was a a dog park when Pavelski showed up w his dog and my own dog went to say hi and Pavs had a 4 point night the same day. Still sadly see our injured Captain around from time to time... So there has been a lot of good memories and lots of pain and this past year or so my teen age daughter has become a bigger and bigger fan as she learns the game and the players (we're even playing fantasy hockey together and she made the bold but smart choice of William Eklund). While the feel in the community has yet to catch up to the emerging excitement at the Tank, it's only a matter of time until the place is rocking like it did for over 20 solid years. The new guys are electric and there are so many in the pipeline. That, and we have the Jumbo number 19 sweater retirement ceremony this weekend which will be epic. The future is Teal. Go Sharks!!
Thanks for doing this video. I’ve been a die-hard Sharks’ fan since Day 1 (exhibition game against the Canucks at the old San Franciso Cow Palace). My favorite moments: Year 3 shocking the NHL and the all-powerful Detroit Red Wings in the playoffs with the OV line and Arturs Irbe (“Like Wall”) in net. Then coming within one crossbar shot of defeting the Maple Leafs in the semi-Finals. What a year. Also: Owen Nolan’s called shot at the All-Star Game in San Jose to complete the hat trick against Dominic Hasek…. Jumbo Joe winning the incredible playoff series against the rival LA Kings… the AMAZING comback against the Vegas Golden Knights, scoring 3 goals on a 5-minute major to get back into the game after our Captain Joe Pavelski was knocked out…. OT playoff series wins over Calgary… Getting to the Stanley Cup Finals against the Penguins… Owen Nolan taking out the St. Louis Blues in the playoffs…. The Tank rocking EVERY playoff game. So much to be proud of… and… now… the magic is back with these kids: CELEBRINI… SMITH… EKLUND… ASKAROV… MUSTY… DICKINSON… etc. Sharks’ hockey is FUN again. Cheers!
Amazing video San Jose native born and raised here been watching the sharks since a baby the rebuild is spectacular I’m soaking in every moment from Celebrini plus 3 first rounders from last years draft adding Askarov is amazing seeing Macklin getting drafted as a shark is one of the greatest moments in my life! Thinning out the old contracts In with the new this rebuild is special my grandma never got to see the cup while alive hopefully these boys can lift it for us before i die one day!
Others have pointed this out but the record that you stated was/is wrong. Also, as much as the fanbase loves Ferraro, he has nothing to do with our future. He’s having a terrible year. The top dmen for the sharks are Walman (given to us by Detroit), Liljegren (great pick up by them), with prospects like Thompson and hopefully Muk waiting for their turns. Ferraro won’t be part of the long term d core and if we could trade him even this year we would.
Ferraro is the kind of D man you want on a team challenging for a Cup, it’s not his fault the D depth in SJ has been SO ass… when he’s slotted in properly he is a very effective player
@@josezarate7300spoken like someone that hasn’t watch a Sharks game. Ferraro has been bad along with Rutta. Professor Jockey has a video breaking them down for the first quarter of the season.

Im a Toronto fan but I wanted a west team to get more exposure to western teams so I picked the sharks bc their cool colors & name.
Been tracking Crlebrini (and Smith) two exciting young talents. Both have been fantastic.

Sharks are so back!!! Born in the Bay Area, been a sharks fan for 18 years
After seeing Askarov in net last night, with Celebrini and Smith, things in Sharks World are looking up!
People don’t get how good celebrini is

L take
@ care to elaborate? Ferraro is awful…
Yup Ferraro looks like he is killing penalties all game

Fav moment was game 7 comeback win down 3-0 vs Vegas, we’re down 3-1 in the series and pulled off the win
I am a sharks fan but being last in the western conference is not exactly what I would call 'hot'.
Sharkies are one crazy trade away from being legit again.
Finally someone is noticing
Yeah Mario Ferraro blocks shots and throws hit. But he really hasn’t been that good. The D-core is weak and Ferraro is one of the weakest ones.
they have lost 4 of their last 5 games..........
I literally had to go check to make sure I wasn't crazy 😂
No disrespect guys, love the enthusiasm and content...but umm...yea....this isn't fox news😂
I was goina say, they aren’t winning much
@@LebanonJames420 maybe shocking the NHL by not being last
