No one 'pays into' Social Security. It's not a savings account and doesn't work analogous to one. It's straight-up welfare. I know I know I know, there is nothing serious here. But I am going to address one anyway. I am a disabled Veteran with a broken back. I have been on Oxy for ten years. Without it, I cannot walk. With it, I can live a normal life. But I never take more than is prescribed. It has been at least 8 years since it gave me any kind of a "buzz." I do not use it to "party." I do not ask to switch medications to one that will give me that buzz again. It just kills the pain in my back so I can walk like a normal person. Oxy is not the problem. Addictive personalities are the problem. And people with addictive personalities are GOING to get and use things improperly whether they are legal or not. No "problem" has EVER been properly identified nor has one ever been solved, by politicizing it and putting politicians in charge of it. Leave...people...alone, children. That is my rant for the day. Same here. I am tortured by Restless Leg Syndrome. Vicodin helps, while no other drug worked. Last time I didn't use it, I went four days being unable to sleep; got to the point where I was having hallucinations and blacking out for short periods and waking up in new and unusual places...even happened when I was walking the dog, I ended up on someone's front lawn. So when I hear that some politician is going on a new anti-opiate crusade, I'm terrified that he's going to kill me with his virtue signaling.
Not the oxy itself...while I haven't watched it, I believe that the documentary addresses how poor ethics and greed of pharmaceutical sales and some doctors preyed upon people with addictive personalities or, at the very least, ignored the issue in favor of profits. Chronic pain patient since I had a botched back surgery at 24yrs old. I take two extended release percocets and 4ir percocets a day. Muscle relaxers, cymbalta all just to be able to walk to the bathroom. I currently have 2 herniated disc and 2bulging disc. But I’m too scared to have surgery again. The first one messed me up so bad I can’t sneeze or cough without peeing myself. I can’t bend over, can’t do most household chores. But yet I’m not disabled enough to get disability. The surgeon who messed me up left the country and went to Israel
The problem is that its too easy for people who are not injured to get prescriptions for it from barely legal drug peddling doctors who take a cut of the profit. In many other countries such medication is a lot harder to get and thus dont have a prescription opioid addiction problem. Of course instead, people just buy the illegal opioids and then the criminals make more money and the doctors dont, so its a wash.

I know I know I know, there is nothing serious here. But I am going to address one anyway.
I am a disabled Veteran with a broken back. I have been on Oxy for ten years. Without it, I cannot walk. With it, I can live a normal life. But I never take more than is prescribed. It has been at least 8 years since it gave me any kind of a "buzz." I do not use it to "party." I do not ask to switch medications to one that will give me that buzz again. It just kills the pain in my back so I can walk like a normal person.
Oxy is not the problem. Addictive personalities are the problem. And people with addictive personalities are GOING to get and use things improperly whether they are legal or not.
No "problem" has EVER been properly identified nor has one ever been solved, by politicizing it and putting politicians in charge of it.
Leave...people...alone, children.

Same here. I am tortured by Restless Leg Syndrome. Vicodin helps, while no other drug worked. Last time I didn't use it, I went four days being unable to sleep; got to the point where I was having hallucinations and blacking out for short periods and waking up in new and unusual places...even happened when I was walking the dog, I ended up on someone's front lawn. So when I hear that some politician is going on a new anti-opiate crusade, I'm terrified that he's going to kill me with his virtue signaling.
Not the oxy itself...while I haven't watched it, I believe that the documentary addresses how poor ethics and greed of pharmaceutical sales and some doctors preyed upon people with addictive personalities or, at the very least, ignored the issue in favor of profits.

Chronic pain patient since I had a botched back surgery at 24yrs old. I take two extended release percocets and 4ir percocets a day. Muscle relaxers, cymbalta all just to be able to walk to the bathroom. I currently have 2 herniated disc and 2bulging disc. But I’m too scared to have surgery again. The first one messed me up so bad I can’t sneeze or cough without peeing myself. I can’t bend over, can’t do most household chores. But yet I’m not disabled enough to get disability. The surgeon who messed me up left the country and went to Israel

The problem is that its too easy for people who are not injured to get prescriptions for it from barely legal drug peddling doctors who take a cut of the profit.
In many other countries such medication is a lot harder to get and thus dont have a prescription opioid addiction problem.
Of course instead, people just buy the illegal opioids and then the criminals make more money and the doctors dont, so its a wash.
