    Good review.
The Mk 3 is way lighter than the mk1. Squaddies don’t like the mk1 .
I just bought the mk 3 and spent part of last weekend lugging it around Dartmoor with 16kg of kit in it.
I tried a MK1 on only yesterday at our local army surplus supply,Strikeforce UK in Somerset.
The pouches are rare and around £75 a pair. There is also a hydration pouch for the side of the burgen. I can get them for £15.00 each, but they are fairly slim fitting.
    All the best.

Good video Shov! I've been using the MK3 for a while and quite impressed with vertus; I ditched the waist belt, but its good with or without belt kit. Best wishes Gill 👍

How's it holding up. Some are saying it fall apart. After speaking to a few friends that have been issued with it all they are saying is the lads didn't like it due to too many straps and such ie they can't just open the top and dump.the kit in .atb.

shovel_reccy the MK3 that I have opens at the top and near the bottom like a traditional rucksack; however I have always liked the clam style rucksack as it’s easier to get and find stuff. IMO they are well made, higher standard to any civi pack, but I’ve not been throwing mine out of a 4 toner :) I have had the cord ties on the zips come undone so I’ve put a few stitches in each of them to stop that. The molle is really handy; like you said at £100 for rocket pouches a bit expensive so I add LMG pouches and put cook set or water bottle in those, 9 mm mag pouch on the left shoulder strap with torch in. The MK3 has a wider belt and I found it pulled the rucksack back and made me unbalanced with a lot of weight, easily solved just got rid of the belt and used the sternum strap instead; climbed a couple of mountains using it without issue which was a real test, wore it on a 12 mile speed march in torrential rain 12 kg and was comfortable. I put a few pictures up on Ivarr’s site too and a short review. Compared to my DPM PLCE it’s more comfortable and offers more options; if I have to choose then I choose Vertus ( my opinion I know not every one will agree) 👍

Cantactleft sell plce zips, you can cut one Virtus zip from each side and sew these in. Then you can use PLCE pouches

Decent review Paul. Clam shell design, MTP, to many separate hidy holes, too many zips and fiddly bits and a lot of the lad's down at Warminster Camp say they are not as soldier proof as the old PLCE bergen and quite a few say the zips burst if the pack is loaded, if it looks nice then stay away from it, cosmetics isn't functionality mate, DPM PLCE all the way. What's with the toy M4 Paul, you taking up Airsoft.

No.its my boys. Thing is I'm not hoofing around with all the kit soldiers do today soshould do me well and the weight saving is paramount to us older guys(and gals) these days if we still whant to get out on the ground.

@@shovelreccy Good shout. Yeah mate weight is definitely an issue for us old one's that's why packing only the gear needed is paramount, we are all guilty of packing in too much unnecessary gear just in case, but leave the just in case tat out and the weight is good to go. All depends on the situation really I suppose though.

Hi bud since my last comments on the virtus bag I have changed my mind in part , I have since acquired the 40 litre gu day sack with X2 assualt packs 17 litre each which also has a pouch for the bladder in each which has made these bag an almost carry anything , the daysack I find more comfortable than
the gu Bergen ,but also have the Bergen u have there which is the 2015 version which is a short back both of these bags are hard-wearing , durable
and now I highly recommend them 👍👍

I think it was more about too many straps and zips. I think they ate used to the old plce open and chuck it all in . That all I have heard. It'd going to be a learning curve with it as I'm used to the same. But carry wize and weight it's better than any ruck I have used . Atb .

It’s okay for hiking the vision 7 zips are okay and the bag is pretty tough , I currently live out of rucks 365 days a year and have had this 7 months continuy use but I still prefer PLCE bergens over this, keep an eye on the goarmy website last price for Virtus side pockets was £35
