Where do you want to start? How about with emissions regulations end corporate average fuel economy numbers? It would have to have the supercharger since the 5.0 cannot perform as good as , and lacks the torque of the TwinTurbo eco-boost.That would require more engine work to the 5.0 L to have it hold up to the supercharger and meet fords durability requirements. It would also mean another powertrain to certify which cost a big dollars today. In all honesty I believe the biggest reason is performance the TwinTurbo eco-boost simply outperforms a 5 liter .Since Ford sales every single V6 TwinTurbo raptor at or over sticker price I don’t see them having an incentive to put a V-8 in it at the end of the day we have to remember that Ford is in business to make money and they are making very good money on the current eco-boost raptor and from what I heard the warrantee numbers are very low on that engine it’s a very solid well built engine with all forged internals, and it holds up well to abuse and modifications. It’s very easy to take that hundred to 600 hp. You cannot say the same thing about a 5 L unless you put a blower on it.
"No longer the ecoboost measly 450 HP..." LOL. Yeah, but that was more power than pretty much ANY stock V8 from and full size truck manufacture and it had more torque AND it made more torque sooner in the power band. Anyone who has actually driven the 3.5 V6 EcoBoost knows that it is very powerful. The only negative is the lack of the awesome V8 sound. When I buy a F-150 when my current ride is paid off I might just buy a 5.0 simply because I will likely do a DIY single turbo install. But if I were to buy a truck to leave mechanically stock with maybe just a flash tune like most people might do, I'd get the 3.5 EcoBoost as it will simply outperform the 5.0 in every way except for exhaust sound.
The 3.5 isn’t offered in all f150 trims though so it’s a poor comparison, for the up charge from a xlt to a plat you could just supercharge their 5.0 and kick the shit out of it
Great vlog Mike. Beautiful truck. I definitely need one of those to replace my current toy. I have a 2000 F-250 Super Duty with a 8 inch lift and 37-12.50/16.5 tires. Keep up the great work on your awesome vlogs.
Do you think it will hold as much value like the raptor originally does? Because this looks awesome but financially speaking I think it’s going to depreciate just like a regular F150.
Consider this. A used 2017 F-150 Platinum is about $50,000. A used 2017 Raptor is about $65,000. If you were a buyer in the market for a used Raptor, and you had the choice between a used factory 2017 V6 Raptor for $65,000 or a used 2017 F-150 Platinum V8 with this full Raptor conversion with the super charger kit for $65,000, which one would you buy? The biggest issue will be financing. The vin number on the Platinum will show it is just a Platinum model and the bank will only base the loan value on what a F-150 Platinum books out for. So you will likely have to put up around $15,000 down to get a bank to finance the rest. The banks will not consider the after market stuff when booking out the vehicles loan value. In most cases a bank will loan up to a 115% of loan value which means you will need to come up with the difference out of pocket. For many buyers this could be a problem. Also, most dealers will not typically give you much for any modifications made when it comes to trade-in value. So will likely need to sell the vehicle yourself to get more out of it. From reading their web site it looks like the full Raptor conversion which does not include the super charger package, is $25,000. The super charger package is $12,500. So the full Raptor conversion with the super charger conversion appears would cost you $37,500 for everything. Which means if you were to buy a used 2017 F-150 Platinum for $50,000 then pay to have it converted to a Raptor with the super charger conversion at a cost of $37,500, you will have $87,500 into a used 2017 F-150 Platinum with a full Raptor conversion kit with a super charger conversion kit. At the end of the day, resale value isn't something one considers much as they are just paying to get something for themselves that they intend to keep for a long time and enjoy for themselves.
@@johnlyn1 Used 2017 Raptors with 28-32K miles in my area are not $65K they go for $50-55K. Also I wouldn't call it FULL RAPTOR CONVERSION KIT (appearance wise maybe). You dont get Raptors differentials, frame, driving modes also shocks they used are Fox 3.0 from Gen1 Raptors not Gen2.
@@kc3689 so you telling me that GM Engine can be put into 2017-18 Raptor without any modifications to Computer system ECU or even wiring not mentioning body for body mount etc. 🤣🤣🤣🤣 I guess John Hennessey from Hennessey Performance should've used GM Engine instead of Ford's 5.0L and by doing it he wouldn't had to change Trans, ECU and all wiring. So why didn’t you just buy the F-150 in the first place. Roush puts together a nice supercharged 5.0 that puts out about 600 hp and comes with a nice warranty as well. With that said, the Raptor is in a league of its own that no other automaker has been able or willing to duplicate, so if you decided on a Tundra after looking at Raptors, I’d suggest going with a regular F150 with an aftermarket package like the Roush.

It would be a much more authentic Raptor if they used the drive-train from the F-150 and swapped it out for the Eco-Boost V6 in an actual Raptor. Maybe more expensive but this project can't be cheap no matter how it's done. It really makes no sense that Ford doesn't offer the 5.0 as an option in the most badass truck on the planet. Would be even more awesome if someone at Ford with the authority to make the decision would decide to build a limited number of Raptors with the new Shelby GT500 5.2 L supercharged V8 engine.

Samuel Hartman nobody is able to do it due to computers and programming etc. only henessey has been able to with everything working completely
@@leonelrivera8546 Forgive me if I am wrong, I do some work on cars but I'm not a mechanic, but couldn't you just put in the ECU from the v8 version?
Oooh snap is this a little preview of what's to come for the f150 mike? Raptor front end and suspension?
What a nice n aggressive things. Cheers Mike as always fantastic job
I like the drone shot
Shout out to Houston... just 3 months and I’ll be moving down there!!!
Now this is what I call a Raptor a Raptor.
I don't know about the rest of you but I would have enjoyed a longer video showing all the trucks trying to pull each other out of the mud
well now you know what your next mods to the F150 should be start with the suspension
Absolute Beast!
You should really do a raptor conversion on your truck
Have you seen that Mustang fast back for F150... what if.. another great upload bro
Outstanding!
dude you visited that place which is like 10 mins from my house. FeelsBadMan D=
Trucks Goals👌🏼🔥
That thing is a beast 💪🏾
BEAST!
EcoBoost sounds like a wet fart.
F6HemiCharger haha 😂
Calling this Platinum F150 a Raptor is absolutely ridiculous..
Chris Y how so? According to the video it’s been completely refitted with original raptor parts. Converted if you will. So what’s ridiculous about that?
@@taylorelsner6332 ah, no it has not...
Jay T. So then he’s lying in the video as well as the company doing these retrofitting/conversions/modifications?
