Winter of January 2023 in Abruzzo, Italy (Castiglione Messer Marino)

- A fresh snowfall greets us in mid January of 2023 in the mountain town of Castiglione Messer Marino in the Abruzzo region of Italy. Castiglione Messer Marino is nearly 1,100 metres above sea level and regularly sees a white winter and cold temperatures that can last through April.
The snowfall first occurred in January which led the village streets to be inaccessible and front doors to be completely snowed in. Cars that were not moved beforehand remain buried under many feet of snow for multiple days.

What a magical video! Thank you so much❄☃
wow very nice..
Awesome video guys. Thanks so much. Looking forward to seeing you soon. Thomas and Shawnee, with Kai and Ike.
Thank you for this. Abruzzo is now officially off my list. I am NOT shoveling snow or putting up with getting snowed in. I'm from the U.S. and I'm looking for a warm place. But it sure it pretty!
I'm a bit uhh ... january 2023, but 3 weeks ago. Well it's my brain again i think. But beautyful ❤😂
Great tobogganing area!
Are you currently living here? We plan to visit and are considering living there (Castiglione). Would love to get your perspective on day to day living there.
We like to say we live here full-time but part-time. We have a base (home) here but we tend to travel a lot. Still, there are times where we are in Castiglione a few months at a time. I plan to share more videos on our every day life here! In the meantime, feel free to email me at hello@adventuresoface.com - I'm happy to share and answer any questions about life here.
@@AdventuresofAceFamily I will absolutely do that! Thank you for your willingness to share!
Does the mountains in Italy sell wide shovels to get snow out of the way. They are sold in the USA.
Yes, typical snow shovels are sold here at hardware and construction stores in Italy.
Greetings from Wenatchee love, Abruzzo
Are you there full-time
Wenatchee is beautiful! We reside in Abruzzo full-time yet part-time because we often travel.
Beautiful! Firstly I noticed the Seahawks hat-are you from WA? Are the dogs yours? How is traveling with them if so? Sorry this is the first video of yours I've seen. Maybe I should check for more.
Great eye! Yes, we were both born in Seattle, then moved to NYC, then Prague and now reside in Italy.
The dogs are not ours but are communal within the small town and are regularly fed by us and all our neighbours. We do however have a dog of our own (wasn't included in this video) which does travel with us!
Your comment gives us an idea to make a video about what it's like to travel with a big dog. :) Thank you for watching!
Google maps shows Roccaraso to be a ski resort an hour away? Maybe more with this much snow?! Hahaha. Is that a good mountain?
Roccaraso is a popular ski resort and mountain area for winter sports, which is a little over one hour from Castiglione Messer Marino. CMM is not a mountain but a town, so it wouldn't be a good choice for skiing unless you're interested in wild skiing off designated slopes. :)
That is too much snow for us. We want to live somewhere where there is no snow! Perhaps Portugal would be better to retire to. Living in Canada, I have had enough of the snow and all the bother that comes with it.
I showed my husband this and said oh no! He said we will be retired, so we don’t have to go out! 😂😂😂
Also, Abruzzo never gets this much snow. Totally fake.
it is definitelynot fake @@carollogue8218
@@carollogue8218 They actually did get this much snow last winter. Of course, it usually melts after a few days.
Copracotta in northern Italy got 101 inches last winter. I did some research.
Are all those cats and dogs homeless😢??
They are not homeless but it's not typical for all dogs and cats to live indoors in small rural towns of Italy. The animals are fed by neighbours and often sleep in basement areas of homes during the winter.
