As I recall he wanted to retire, but unfortunately global events have made that difficult. Most nations have some pretty good diplomats but Lavrov is a mind of knowledge and experience and persona that is hard to replace.

Foreign Minister Lavrov is an intelligent, thoughtful, and respectful man and it was a pleasure to hear him. I am an American and our current leaders are usually trying to scam us when they talk. I am embarrassed and angered by the behavior of US leadership, especially their bullying and disrespectful attitude towards Russia. Many Americans feel the same.

He also mentioned Russia had warned west against Eastward expansion of NATO, something the west agreed upon in written declarations, not to even mention that NATO was established to counter USSRs influence, which does not exist today. He also says how the current Ukrainian government is an illegitimate one achieved by coup d'etat....if there is one thing about US anyone should know is that they specialize in it...he says how the land of Ukraine, as it stands today was built by the Russians when they were USSR and even the constitution of Ukraine says to respect Russians and Russian values in all its form within itself but none of that is actually happening, when infact speaking Russian is ground for you to be made a party to suspicion, deny service to....When US placed Nukes in Turkey, right next to USSR and when USSR did the same in Cuba, US made a big deal of it...then they withdrew missiles from Turkey silently and then USSR did the same from Cuba, US made such a big deal of having won when they were just backing off from a fight they knew they could not win.....then how can u expect when US, by their proxies in the mindless, zero self worth so called men in EU, doing their bidding and scooching up right next to Russia's border, under NATO, which is a binding defense agreement among all of EU and US and can field Nukes that can reach all parts of Russia and to think that Russia wudnt see it as a threat to their very existence?
