  • "Wisdom, Determination & Bravery" was adopted as the Regimental March of the Army Training Regiment, Winchester, in the Spring of 2004. The March was composed by the then Bandmaster of the Band & Bugles of the Light Division, WO1 David Barringer (now Lt. Col. David Barringer MVO, MBE, Senior Director of Music of Household Division).
The title of the march refers to three of the main qualities required in British Army recruits at the completion of their training and was devised using the initials of the composer's Son, William David Barringer.
The three sections of the march are intended to reflect these qualities, the complex 'Wisdom' subject in the minor key and the challenging Bass figures representing the 'Determination'. The Trio section is a legato melody which ponders the emotions of bravery, whilst the final Grandioso of the march features the first subject returning as the counter melody, this time in the major key, creating a joyous and uplifting atmosphere as well as an overall unity to the march. This final section actually has the three main melodies from the march interwoven and is intended to portray the camaraderie of recruits as they march off at their Passing Out Parade.
