- Scuffles in Taiwan's parliament have broken out between members of the two largest political parties, neither of which has an outright majority.
It comes just days ahead of the inauguration of Taiwan’s new president.

Don’t like the KMT either but over the last eight years, the Democratic DPP has committed numerous disgraceful acts, and they've tried everything to prevent the bill from being passed. Those who have closely followed recent party negotiations know that DPP legislators never seriously read the provisions but merely delayed proceedings with the aim of obstructing the bill's passage. They even proposed 80 different versions of the bill, with each version differing only in punctuation and a few words. Despite their majority in Congress, the DPP failed to deliver on the reforms promised over the past eight years. It's clear that there's no bill that can't be passed, only those that the DPP doesn't want to pass. Holding all the power, they have allowed Taiwan's wealth gap to reach 66 times while deceiving the international community with claims that only the DPP can protect Taiwan's sovereignty, resulting in severe hardship for the people of Taiwan.

The scenes in parliament are undignified and suggest a country in chaos. However, Taiwan has a stable democratically elected government and is generally well governed. The tensions in the parliament are caused by frustrations in parliamentary process and tensions between the executive and the legislative branches. It would be good if the media could try to do more to explain this although it would take longer than this two minute report.
