- The Final Warning Exotic Strand Sidearm got a brand new Exotic Catalyst with the launch of the Final Shape that more or less gives it Rewind Rounds, and that is insane seeing as it was already the highest DPS primary weapon in the entire game as it was. This is just icing on the cake. So it's time to review this weapon once again.

I got the catalyst in a Nightfall then in the very next Nightfall I got the catalyst for the Wicked Implement. Happy days.
My best friend has the best RNG. Always gets the raid exotic first time, God rolls of anything are always first drops for him. Wicked Implement and its catalyst were the only thing in the game he couldn't boast about, as he couldn't complete the mission. Then the other day he's using it with the catalyst. "I bought it, then the catalyst dropped on the first basic strike." MFer...
Happy for you though, that gun and its catalyst are amazing.
Catalyst drops have been weird lately. I had the final warning catalyst drop last week in a nightfall, then graviton lance catalyst dropped the next one, then hard light catalyst dropped 2 after that. Not complaining, but odd.
@@beeman4266 agreed. I've had graviton for years and never knew that it even had a catalyst. The day I found out, I took it into a strike or control match and it dropped. 🤷♂️
Thanks for the vid. This pistol had been confusing the crap out of me ever since I got it, and it's just been collecting dust in my vault since everyone and their mother was harping on quicksilver as the go-to for every build. Looks like I have a reason to use this one now.
This gun hasn't left my strand hunter in ages, it's insane how good it is. I'm going to cry when Bungie inevitably nerfs it.
They nerf based on usage rate so I doubt it. See lament, it wasn’t even that good in the first place for raw dps, yet it still was nerfed since it was so popular.

I literally just got the catalyst an hour ago in iron banner then the next match i got the thorn catalyst. Then this is the first video to pop up when i open youtube. I guess you could say its DESTINY. Im sorry guys. Fml

Interesting, because somehow I stumbled on that, to kind of pump the trigger and pre-charge it a little bit per shot. I’m glad you confirm that’s the best way.
Same here I may or may not have been panic pulling the trigger on a mob of enemies when I found this out
You're wrong about the synergy with the artefact perk. Unravel only procs with a fully charged bar, just half charging till the red target lock appears doesn't unravel.
and it doesn't matter because that perk's gone at the end of act 1 anyway

i think outbreak needs a retest though, i think it got buffed along with other pulses and rewind surely helps with dps, also a test for this one with the catalist as is like rewind and has to do something too

I believe outbreak shines with teams using it that and it taking a while to get enough trackers built to start popping off good damage where final warning starts instantly with top damage but idk I'm sure outbreak would shine in a long damage phase over this

@jlrebor2626 it for sure would do well ive not even used outbreak in the final shape I mostly play solo and sticking to red death for the heals and it's also hard for me to set the call down to try outbreak
Outbreak is fantastic this season! With the pulse buffs, along with Rewind Rounds and better stats on the crafted version, and then anti-barrier in the artifact. It shreds stuff even in GMs. I keep saying it's like this season's Sunshot with how all-around useful it is. And with a full team proccing nanites, those eat enemies for lunch. 💚

If it only had anti barrier still or had better range. I would never take it off if it did. I want to see a damage comparison with the stasis warlock fragment that gives increased primary weapon damage. Throw down a turret and go to town.
Pretty sure that fragment only works for kinetic weapons. It's used in a lucky pants DPS rotation, but almost certain its for kinetic, not strand.
burst causes unravelling to deal with anti barrier, although then you cannot take the other sidearm champ mod in the artifact - always been this way but seems silly on Bungie' part. They say they don't want to allow 1 weapon to deal with multiple champs, but chill clip exists ... they should allow both stun options. mods & perks for more flexibility
I've tried using it a few times and everytime I mess it up. Gonna have to give it another go, yet again. It's definitely a muscle memory weapon where you learn how long to charge it without wasting time over-charging it or not enough and do a single shot.
I have a ton of kills with this weapon, but to this day I'm still not sure if I am using it right, notwithstanding your excellent video. Can you perhaps explain in more detail the interplay between Left Trigger and Right Trigger, when (if at all) you release either trigger, and, lastly, when you say "charge" do you mean holding down the Right Trigger? Here's how I have been using it. I start by aiming a bit, and then hold the trigger until I see multiple targets marked; then, per Bungie's description, I release both triggers (thus going into hip fire mode), with the goal of releasing bullets that hit multiple targets with intrinsic tracking; if I want to chunk down an isolated target, I keep pressing both Left Trigger and Right Trigger and aiming at the beefy enemy. I notice that when I go into hip fire mode, the gun's animation goes off target and points up and to the left, but I think that the bullets still track to the previously marked targets. If you could kindly give more detailed "how to" that would be great, as I really enjoy this gun on Strandlock with Swarmers, but its mechanics are confusing.
There's multiple ways, depending on what you want to do - as is shown in the video. The hipfire tracks, but only does body shots - great if you need to keep hitting a target from cover but not the best DPS option. For best DPS, use ADS (right-click for you I'm guessing), then hold the left mouse button down until it starts charging and release before it builds a full charge (you'll need to aim at the crit spot). As it starts firing, spam the left mouse button to keep firing as those additional shots will still get the bonus burst DPS for a little while. If it's a big target, you can start with a full ADS burst to unravel them and then use the semi-burst + manual shot method for ongoing DPS.

@@marcesterman7824 The core mechanic is "hold down the shoot button until it starts to charge, then release it and keep pressing the shoot button rapidly" - you can either do this while hipfiring to get tracking shots (not using aim button), or hold down the aim button to get higher damage shots that have to be manually aimed to hit.
Your earlier Final Warning video got me to pull it out of my Vault and use it a *ton* during Season of the Wish. I appreciate this little correction as well!

Can confirm that I got this catalyst from Iron Banner easily (first 3 or 4 games) since I dont like playlist activities.
Definitely one of the strongest all-around (in that it works with any build - even non-strand) primary exotics in the game
catalyst have a higher drop chance for catalyst if you win a comp match, i got both the catalyst for wicked implement and final warning on my 4th match of comp
When you say continually spam your trigger after the initial burst, do you mean with semi auto fire, or do you mean with additional bursts? Thanks Maven!

I always use the first set fully charged as it severs, then go about the same as in the vid, spamming away nicely.
It unravels, not severs. Running thread of isolation will allow you to sever.

I find it kinda confusing to use on adds, as I don't totally get the multi-target-marking behavior. Clearly I have to keep playing with it and get used to it, though!

With the new Maahes 257 Void handcannon you can do both! Main Final Warning and swap to the Maahes when your Lucky Pants are ready. Works great on Prismatic so you can have a good Light and Dark gun.
(aside from Lucky Pants because that's an entirely different monster)

I don't quite know what it is but it doesn't feel good to pull the trigger/fire. Same with that exotic solar sidearm. I want to use it but it just feels off

I’ve been using final warning like this since last year and it’s just sooo strong. Only downside is its range because it literally can’t do anything outside of its marking range

I wish that you would go into more detail on how to fire the gun correctly. You seem to focus more on the damage than you do on the correct way to use it for max dps. If you say it’s a max dps weapon we believe you. So how about going into more detail on how to fire it correctly and maybe a build that highlights the weapon.
I lost a heartbreaker of a competitive match to get the catalyst to drop. Heard you put out a good video on use and here I am. Well done, this thing is going to carry me until Bungie nerfs it.
I have such a hard time using this weapon. I struggle with the range to mark the target. Then when I go in to get in range I always get obliterated by mobs. It just doesn’t feel like it has very good cc and only feels good for me when there’s 2 or 3 enemies. I tried sticking with it through all if warlords ruin and. I couldn’t handle the ads at the end until I switched back over to my turret agers build and doubled my damage. I’m sure it’s just a skill issue but I really want to like this gun. On the other hand outbreak with rewind feels like it lasers everything and every situation.

And about the catalyst I got It last week on Normal nightfall And I saw It Drop for a rando in the same place (just another assault, I was farming Xur coins).
So if you find yourself in trouble getting It And still not got It by then I would give a try to farming Vault of glass NF Next time It shows Up on the rotation. Might be just a casual thing (most probable thing) or maybe something is messed up on the background And chances are higher there 🤷🏻♂️

Don’t you still need a full charge for the unraveling rounds? Thinking you 1st put a fully charge burst on beefy target to proc unraveling. Then go into the quick charge bursts after. Havent done any damage testing so don’t know if you get more damage that way or not. But one of the benefits of this weapon is the unraveling on demand. No other gun can do that. That’s how I’ve been doing it.
It randomly dropped for me after an Iron Banner match today. Imagine my shock and confusion not knowing it could, but that it even existed.
Managed to two man an expert nf (big deal for us) using this technique. Not gonna lie I have to work to get it right but it’s dps is impressive!

You guys have no idea how many times this exotic sidearm saved my runs in various contents even with match game and no correct energy to destroy elemental shields. The closer you are to the enemy the more damage it seems to do and it MELTS elemental shields as well as the vex containment bubble when you get caged

Ya, but how do you know how many times you need to spam the button after short charge to apply all the debufs? You may be spamming to long and these bullets will go to waste, no?

Catalyst drop rates are either bugged or Red Deaths catalyst is dropping rng.
I've reset my Vanguard and Gambit twice and I've reset my Crucible once.
No way is that normal, 90% of the time I get it on my first game and 10% of the time I get it before one reset.
Catalyst collectors will tell you if you have catalysts to finish, your drop rates are much lower and that is very TRUE!!!
Also, a catalyst quest or Red Deaths catalyst can also effect your rng. Why? Because technically you have the catalyst and you need to finish.
I own and I have completed every catalyst.
Preach the good word of Final Warning to the haters in the back who didn't think this is one of the best GUNS periodt in the game since it's release and is still slept on it's crazy

I hate the feel of this Sidearm enough not to ever use it again. As someone who loves the "feel" of Sidearms, this gun goes against that for me so I just can't do it unless somehow they take away the "let go" to shoot feel of the rounds.
