Thanks for taking us along. I really appreciate how you showcase the hard work that is involved in carrying for these friends. My wife is a wildlife rehabber for a non-profit, and it breaks our hearts how often exotic animals are abandoned by people that carelessly tried to keep them as novel pets without realizing the level of dedication required.
Sadly Virginia Oppossums like Ophelia have an average wild lifespan of 2 years and captive lifespan is around 3-4 years. there have been rare cases of them doubling that, so Ophelia might live a while yet! but she is definitely at a happy and comfortable old age.
Seraphina's vocalizations were fascinating to me, and she seems very happy! That's the ultimate compliment, I think, for the work you all do. Thank you for the video Animal Wonders!
I love that you show us this. I love that anybody that comes to check out your channel is gonna find out at every turn just how much dedication and work it takes to really care for an animal. It's wonderful to learn what these incredible creatures are like, and what they need, and how they live. Even the sad stories are wonderful because they show how much YOU care, and also helps folks learn and accept that if you're caring for an animal - exotic or not - sometimes, there will be sadness. Animal Wonders is a treasure!
@@animalwondersmontana Wow! A German word! I used that "Thanks" for the first time and hadn't figured out how to write something before sending. I like the feature and I hope it helps additionally if some use that. Thank you very much!
We wish she had a companion too! We've gone through several attempts at getting her a good match, but sadly none have worked out. We'll keep trying though!
Jessie really enjoyed the night view. The animals were all just adorable. Loved at the end when you went back to Ophelia. She was so cute laying on her blanket with her head on her paws. That was a picture moment. Thanks for sharing and all that you guys do for these wonderful animals. Blessings!
I was wondering if you could explain how you schedule the day and night rounds since the more you post the more it seems like you do not have time to sleep let alone take a small break haha. You guys are fantastic, hope everything is going well for both you and the animals!
I love seeing how active animals like this get at night! I keep my 3 female mice and my leopard gecko in my room so that I'm able to see what they're up to at night when they're super active. I've noticed so many behaviors I wouldn't have if I wasn't constantly seeing them at night 😄
My heart always melts in happiness when animals have a second chance I love new animals and new videos I wish I had a pet but I will in 5th or 6th grade I also have a question so even though I love animals I am a little scared of animals even though I am getting better I am scared of the smallest bugs so how do become not scared of animals?
For me learning about animals helps me dispel my fear about them. You are doing that right now by asking how not to be scared. I would recommend you research the bugs or animals you are scared of, and try to learn something new about them. Stay safe. Stay curious. And have fun.
Nerdensteins Monster is correct! The more you know about a species, the more you learn and appreciate them. Knowledge is power, which can also evolve into respect and love. Good luck with the future pet of your dreams!
Yes! Research and visits with some animals if possible. The zoo is fun, and visiting with friends pets is good. My friend completely changed my perception of rats after she let me play with hers.
I just noticed that Seraphina had vertical slit pupils like a cat vs round like a dog. Fascinating! They were really easy to see when you were scratching her chin.
Lollipop and Ophelia and Kemo are my favorites. I've never heard you talk about Ophelia's neuro damage before. Is that why her toes are all wiggly, or is that normal for an opossum?
I've seen both foxes and opposums in the wild but I never knew how cute they could be until I saw them on Animal Wonders ♥ (not that I'm going near either in the wild lol).
@@animalwondersmontana Would be pretty interesting to see a "day in te life of Jessie". Like how do you schedule a good routine and make sure you get enough sleep and time with your family?
Ophelia acts a lot like my cat did once she got around 13. Still slowly active and happy, still curious, but you can tell even thier fully active mode is a little tired, for lack of a better word.
I saw a baby mouse in the grass the other day. They weren't newborn; their eyes were open and they had hair, but they still looked too young to be wandering around outside of a burrow (and in the day, too). I almost picked them up, but remembered not to touch. However, I saw a puddle of blood (I think it was blood anyway) on the sidewalk nearby, which makes me think the mom got eaten, and the baby was out looking for her or something. It was hard leaving the baby there, given what I think happened to the mom, but I don't KNOW that that's the case. So I had to leave and let nature take it's coarse. :( (Also, I was trying to hold my dog back away from the baby mouse...she was REAL interested)
I usually do checks in the dark, but if I need a closer look, I'll use my phone screen as a light source. I need a bit more light than that in the situation to make the video viewable. -Jessi

I would imagine that logistically checking on nocturnal animals while they’re awake can be kind of difficult. Have you ever considered using some kind of artificial light system to simulate it being nighttime during the day and daytime during the night for your nocturnal animals, so that they’re all awake during the day?
aw see i needed a nocturnal pet i think my biggest mistake getting a day time pet i loved it but i struggled to take care of it (i didnt realize i had debilitating depression as well) i still struggle so i am against getting any animal but the one i would love to take care of would be a chinchilla i think they tend to be up my ally for a pet i would love to pet sit for one that got a good owner that gave squishy time because their cuteness makes me want to squishy them and love them with a fun bath time wear it as a hat while i play nintendo so it got some entertainment and i think that i sit far enough away from the TV for it so its eyes stay fine thats what i worry about with a chin and TV (my brothers friend owned a chin and during them playing nintendo it woke up and got taken out of the cage) it decided to sit on the owners head and he said his head becomes the chinchillias seat for TV time
Hey I'm not sure if you read your comments, but I was wondering if you had any tips on knowing if an opo (opossum) is overweight or not? They have so much long thick hair, I think it's just playing with my eyes haha.
The past couple videos they've been making little balls of food mixed with banana. The recent sickness sadly took a bit of a toll on poor Kemosabe, and while recovery is going well there was still some reluctance to eat. That looks like a bigger version. Also why she was checking a little more thoroughly, Kemosabe tends to hide the usual signs of sickness so they have to monitor everything closely for the moment so they know if there's a relapse.
8 mins she looks like an albino hedgehog so kute i love hedgehogs but i lean more to chins now i didnt know hedgehogs also stay awake at night i guess because so many people own them as pets and i see them in the light that i think they are day animals

Why do opossums have such short lives? They seem like they should live a similar lifespan to rabbits in captivity

Do the nocturnal species living with diurnal species ever bother the friends that are sleeping? Or vice versa? Or do they leave each other alone?
