Thanks for posting. Love the announcers.
People always say Phil and Tiger played bad and it was a bad pairing but it doesn't do justice to just how remarkable Monty and Padraig were. They blitzed Tiger and Phil and never stopped.
I dont know what your talking about, Tiger and Mickelson were just straight bad.. Monty and Harrinton didnt even play THAT good.. They just made key shots at good times, and made a few big putts.. Which is what ANY good team or player is supposed to do big Tournaments to win... Tiger and Mickelson had plenty of opportunities to win here... They never stepped up... Their putting was terrible as well.
Everyone missing the fairway on the first tee in your first time fourball is probably the best ice breaker ever 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Who knew Harrington was Slim Shady in disguise
Mickelsons first tee shot, great karate kick from one of the fans to stop it rolling deeper into the trees
Yea noticed that😒
That's the behaviour you expect out there...
What a great player Monty was.
Until the majors came around
@donald swinley He has zero major championships.
@donald swinley Only on the senior tour mate 🙂
@@dfrancer But he never lost a singles match in Ryder Cup
Rip
Harrington and Monty is a great pairing, both such no nonsense doggedly determined characters that were really suited to matchplay. They probably saw that within each other and that's why they gelled so well together. Phil and Tiger two brilliant individuals, but as many have said you would probably be better off playing them with someone else, particularly Phil as another player could have really benefited from playing with him. Tiger for some reason never really got going at the ryder cup and as we saw over the years it didn't really matter who you put him with and I'd imagine it would have been almost intimidating playing with him for some.
No I think it’s fair to say Tiger and Phil were bad together. They were bad by themselves for that matter as the two best players of their era who combined for around 130 wins and 21 or 22 majors over 20 years should have had better than average records in the Ryder Cup. Monty and Harrington were great players but Tiger and Phil sucked in the Ryder Cup.
@@Ghostshadows306 That's because your need sportsmanship and communication to win as a team. Phil and Tiger are 2 of the most egotistical people in golf history. Ego doesnt go well in a team tournament like the Ryder Cup.
@@JonHop1 No argument on that from me. There’s a reason they didn’t have success at the Ryder Cup and it makes sense that it had to do with them being poor team players.
@@Ghostshadows306 Exactly. And thats okay. Not everyone is suited to team-play in Golf, especially because its mostly an individual sport. But man, is it not a shame 2 of the best golfers of all time couldnt work together.. I shot a round in front of Mickelson at Trump International last year. Dude has a serious attitude problem. Dude was constantly complaining and making rude remarks.. Who knows, maybe he was just having a bad day, but others have told me Phil can be like that a lot.
I'd almost forgotten what a beautifully pure swing Monty has.
Haha he never won shit and was
A proper
Moaner.
😅
@@David81515 You say he never won anything you have no idea what you are talking about. He finished first on the European Tour Order of Merit every year from 1993 to 1999 (a record for most consecutive Orders of Merit), and has 31 victories on the tour, including the 1998, 1999, and 2000 Volvo PGA Championships at Wentworth, England.
Effortless swing...I agree
His swing is the absolute worst. How someone with a swing like that plays for a living blows my mind.
@@roycemartin9068 Probably because you ignorant of the mechanics of a golf swing both at impact and back swing. OR maybe just ignorant
Tiger was never a team player, only cared about himself. 👎
Look how he was raised. His style is to win and play for yourself, that's what made him so good.
Correct ,that’s why he is the goat
Yeah, it’s because he spent all that time playing the team sport of golf 😂. Nice try 🧌
Thank you to whoever at the Ryder Cup decided to release this content. Inject it straight in my veins. 🤤
Incredible ball striking by Monty and Harrington..Great game..Thanks for uploading this one.
Monty’s swing is amazing
You should see mine sometime
THANKYOU!!! KEEP EM COMING PLEASE!! LOVE THESE!!
I had the honor and pleasure of meeting Colin Montgomerie after his round senior open at Royal Birkdale. I have to say I've never met a nicer man, Funny dynamic gracious with his time , I had no idea not what I expected ,ashamed to say. I always pictured him as the bad guy from Ryder Cup battles. I wish he'd played more in the US he's a class act a true sports role model.
What was the strategy of playing woods and mickelson together? If there was one at all.
Putting woods with Phil wasn't a very smart pairing and choice by the captain. That's like putting mj with kobe on the same team. We both know these guys egos were huge and should of been carrying the team with another player.
5:40
When sport was enjoyed without cell phones being allowed to recording everything and people with their face buried in the screen, all the while, missing the real experience.
Man, i miss those days.
This match really did set the tone for the whole week. Wasn't really much to split the 12 individuals on either team in terms of ability, but the outcome can only be described as a masterclass from Langer and a disasterclass from Sutton. This was Tiger and Phil's 4th cup together as teammates, yet Kite, Crenshaw and Strange had never elected to put them together as a pair, but you knew Sutton was the calibre of captain to take the chance with it. As we know, it backfired massively on the US team as a whole, the US never led a single match at any point in the Friday fourballs, and it was only in part down to Chris Riley holing a 6-footer on 18 that kept them from being whitewashed. Even stranger was they were paired together AGAIN, in FOURSOMES. Anyway analysis over, love watching this Ryder Cup back time and time again, Bernhard's pairing and man management was the best I've ever witnessed for a captain at the time. Not to mention this Ryder Cup saw the debut of our trustworthy postman.
all four of them missing the fairway off the first tee
Padraig Harrington's hair. Was this his boy band phase?
Almost everyone had a boy band phase 2001-04 🤣
Aye, his Wiggle phase mate
He was out-driving Woods often here, with Woods regarded as worlds longest Tour driver at the time, so whatever he was doing was working
I dont care if Phil made his birdie first, I still wanna see Tiger's putt
Ryder cup highlights > PGA tour highlights
is that Larry David at 9:29 on the cart driving pass?
Wow. Montgomerie before he got old and fat, and Padraig Harrington had BLONDE hair.
This is the year they played the PGA in Rochester, in August. Half way into the 2nd round the lights went out in Upstate New York (and Ohio where the fault originated), so I had to drive back to the nuclear power plant I was working at, and missed the rest of the day. Tiger was not having fun that day. Got to see a couple of Mickelson's incredible recovery shots, as he was all over the place with driver. What an entertaining hoot that was.
Also got to see Byron Nelson, seated like the King of Golf in an overstuffed throne next to the first tee, receiving the homage of every man who teed off. Pretty good run for a Texas farmer...lol
Ryder cup Monty was amazing. A legend for europe
I still can't watch the 2006 U.S. Open because of how Monty gives it away on 18. Watching live back then I was like "This is finally going to be his time!"
Montgomerie is shooter McGavin
I remember this live. Minus catching glimpses of Jack on Sundays at my grandmas this was when i just started truly enjoying the game. I was 25 when this aired. My Lord how time flies.
i didnt knew they video taped my group on the first tee. 4 missed
Do their afternoon match where they lost to Westwood and Clarke, when Phil put it way into the trees on the last hole and Tiger was squinting at him like he was going to club him over the head
Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson chocked their asses off as per usual in the Ryder Cup. Americans choke way too often and the Europeans make puts from everywhere.
Tiger swing is like if a T-1000 played golf
And this was the part of his career his swing really declined massively... Im guessing partly due to injury and partly due to overthinking things and making lots of micro changes. When Tiger tee'd off, his swing would always look so powerful and torquey... No matter what club he used. And he was always aggressive. Here, he played so passively. I dont think Tiger had long drive once throughout all 18 holes.. Which is honestly insane. He clearly was lacking confidence here.
One things for sure. Colin brought his kick America's ass attitude that day.
Look how young they all look... This video is so clear
Funny how prejudice this channel is they didn’t show any of the winning putts for the American side but showed all of europes winning putts. So stupid
Oh dear
Thumbs up if you too wish we were back in 2004
Free Phil
When the word gets out don't be afraid..
When a nine iron's HEADED FOR YOUR ESCALADE!!
Oakland hills clubhouse was destroyed in a fire last week. They plan to have it rebuilt in two years.
Surprised to see Harrington outdriving Woods and Phil quite often.
Monty was the top Ryder Cup player of either team during his years
it should be Tiger vs the other 3
Disappointing loss by the US, but hats off to the UK.
Hal Sutton allowed us to see a Woods/Mickelson pairing. And it went as well as pairing two guys who dislike each other could. No question Monty and Harrington played great but Woods/Mickelson also gave away multiple holes to pars. They also lost their foursome’s match in the afternoon.
Colin and Couples - best swings I've ever seen.
Is it me? I can’t stand couples swing. I must be the only one
Imagine how good Colin would’ve been if he could putt.
Didn't see a blonde Harrington before. Monty so unlucky never to win a major. Such a great Ryder Cup player.
How much money did Phil have on this match?
Whoa, @23:16 Harringtons ball clearly runs into the rough but @26:25 he is playing his 2nd from the fairway. How is that possible?
He's playing his third from the fairway because his drive rolled into the creek.
@@chippycut1406 Oh, didn't know there was a creek there. Nor did the commentators know, by the sound of it. Thanks.
I don't even remember the blonde haired Padrig
Monty,- possibly the most accurate ball striker of all time?
Not even close...
Who then?
Moe Norman probably however not many tournament footage available. Montys iron play was incredible
Man this match sucked haha I thought it woulda been a good match over a hour in I realized tiger and Phil just aren't going anywhere wish I knew this was a stampede
The pro Monty limey announcers are funny. Like the old guys in the balcony on The Muppet's.
What an awful decision to pair Tiger and Phil together, particularly in the alt shot format. Hal Sutton was stubborn as hell about it but the best way to lose points in a Ryder Cup is by turning 2 potential points into 1.
Paddy's frosted tips for the win!
Lot of material in the yanks outfits.
Jeez I don’t know what’s worse Hal Sutton’s cowboy hat or Padraig’s bleach blonde hair😮😮
If Tiger is just all about the game of gold maybe he should take the advice of one of the late great golfers and renounce all earnings from the tour, or give it to charity. Maybe he should play for nothing, just for the love of Golf?
0layed in America but we have awful Europe broadcast to rewatch ugh
Easy work
@
I never understood all the shit Hal Sutton got for this pairing. It was on Tiger and Phil to perform and they didn't. Why wouldn't you pair the two best, most popular players on the U.S. side together? We all wanted to see it.
Great guy colin monty
Excellent video - lots of good shots, but what a hard course!
Cheers
so Tigersdrive goes into the trees with the crowd scampering to get to it and 2 mins later its in the bunker with a shot to the green !
Just to remind everyone, Harrington won the PGA Championship here just 4 years later
Having fun watching this. Four great golfers who knew they were good and who knew their opponents knew they were good. 😎
Good to see Larry David using his golf cart exemption at 9:29
Tiger's irons are so good he should just get rid of the woods in his bag and replace them with more long irons and wedges.
Monty was magnificent while Harrison was sublime.
Tiger is the best iron player
Lol you forgot driver, putter, wedges around the green. Tiger is the 🐐 and there will never be anyone like him in my lifetime. I'm 36
If by Tiger you mean Montgomery.
Monty and Padraig at the top of their games. What a wonderful pairing by Langer 👍🏻
The clubhouse recently burned down at Oakland Hills
5:36 look at that line of new balances oh my lord it’s a beautiful sight seeing some guys being dudes out in the wild
Was Montgomery also protesting not getting paid?
Horrible uniforms that year 👎🏻
What I would give for a swing like Monty's.
Great match!
Monty....Definitely one of the best to ever play the game!
You can clearly see Woods was throwing this game away, you wouldn't usually see him putting away past the hole if it had been a major!
Such a dumb comment 😂😂😂
monty's got a buttery swing wow
Why are the USA wearing blue?
This has to be the worst opening tee shots of all time 😂
couldnt hit the damn fairway ,lol
How does Monty always manage to look 55?
The offense and defense of the first hole of this match decided the outcome of the tournament itself.
Still dont know what Hal Sutton was thinking about when doing this pair lmaoooo
He had nothing to gain and everything to lose..if they won they were supposed to have won but if they lost, which they obviously did you put an extra feather in their caps for defeating the strongest American team they sent out there. But I don’t fault the captain one bit. He knew the fans wanted to see them as a team and he bravely put them together.
P p Päckchen 😅
this was when tiger and phill were not good buddies.
Tiger playing like an amateur
Do the Americans, ever win on these videos ?
Monty’s swing is majestic, how on earth he didn’t win 10 majors is beyond comprehension
Because the beauty of your swing doesn't relate to your skill level.
@@fvrs3411 Eight times Eurpoean No 1? 🤪
@@fvrs3411I was gonna say he didn’t win because he choked a chicken but your answer will suffice. 😉
@@robinbruce9460 doesnt matter when the best players are American does it
@@robinbruce9460 And no one will remember Monty as "8 time Euro #1" 😂
The greens are so wicked fast?!!! Monti the Great 😍
P with the blonde hair 😂
So so so good thanks for loading

Look how young they are!!
Monte always limber and loose
team golf is so much fun to watch
Love watching Mickey and Tiggy playing together.
EPIC!!
