I'm lucky to have a loving, adorable & cute chihuahua shes very close to me & other members of the family I see to it that shes in the best of health I love fris breed somuch I can't imagine a life without my chichi ❤❤❤❤❤❤
On cold or hot days, there are booties that can cinch on and protect their feet. Even with a coller and invisible fencing, you still need to keep an eye on birds of prey flying off with a chi.
Great tips! I live where it gets very cold and snowy in the winter, so my little fellow has a wardrobe of coats, sweaters and booties. I carefully supervised his intro to my other dogs, because although all are geriatric and my other dogs are medium size, that is still more than twice the size of my little Chi. Plus, where I live, I must watch out for bear, mountain lions, coyotes, foxes, hawks and owls - all predators who would like to snatch a little Chi snack. He never goes outside, even to the fenced back yard, without me. It pays to be paranoid.
I don't have a chi, yet, I am in the process of adopting one but I need to point out that having a dog on a lead is a false sense of security. My last dog, a Boston terrier x Jack Russell cross, was attacked on the street, she was on a lead, the other dog wasn't, it killed her, not instantly but kill her it did. She was 18 years old and we'd just walked 5 miles, so she was fit and healthy. I am not trying to scaremonger , i just want people to be aware that being on a lead offers absolutely no protection whatsoever, consider carrying a stick, pepper spray or something else.
Be very wary of wild predators, especially hawks, falcons, and eagles as they can come seemingly out of nowhere. Never leave them outside without your supervision.
This!! Never leave the littles outside! I'd even go as far as to say do not let them outside without taking them on their harness because they are so vulnerable. There was a lady here in town who let her two Yorkies outside into the back yard of her home. One came back. A hawk had come down and snatched one away from her own back yard!
I LOVE chihuahua and they are the BEST FRIENDS I have EVER had in my LIFE.
