Ahh those were the days (as the song goes) sitting with pops on a Saturday afternoon watching world of sport and then having our Saturday special tea. Magic memories.
Those were the good old days of the 80s. Id sit with my pops on a Saturday afternoon with my maa's homemade specials. Second to none. Miss you dearly papa. Maa may God almighty bless you and papa with peace and tranquillity for being so special and part of my memory lane forever.
The kicks and the agility of Sammy Lee had me spellbound as a kid! Oven warmed pork pies, brown sauce, a cup of tea and the Wrestling was a perfect Saturday afternoon.
Nice one for uploading this. Its the drill hall Lincoln,I can see myself.27 secs and me and my brother are right in front of big daddy.I have been looking for it.
I remember Sharkey Ward. He was a real gentleman. As well as a pro wrestler, he managed a pet shop at Warringah Mall and pulled double time as a bouncer at The Brookie Rex Hotel.
Used to watch these guys Wrestle at Bath Pavilion in the late 70s early 80s. I must have had most of their autographs and used to see them chatting and having a laugh with each other along the long corridor leading to the ring. Think I worked it out there and then that it was all choreographed entertainment.
It was the promoters that decided Daddy needed a better profile rather being the Battling Guardsmen v the late Mal Kirk here, later Daddy versed Kirk in another bout, to which Kirk died, and Daddy was interviewed by the police about his death, but now they are both sadly no longer with us.
Mal always had the entire crowd against him , Daddy lets the other guy take the punishment and just comes along and does his splash in most tag matches.
not Sammy Lee though. He got in a fall over Ward and had already battled back effectively against Kirk before taggng in Daddy. The other time Daddy and Lee teamed, against Grand Vladimir and Pretty Boy Mal Stuart, it was Sammy who actually scored the winning fall!
The autopsy revealed Kirk had a heart condition and could have had the heart attack at any time, a verdict of death by natural causes, Dr Norman Ball testified Kirk had six unnoticed minor heart attacks prior to the one that killed him, likely had the fatal attack while he was standing prior to receiving the splashdown, stating "It is likely he was already dead when he fell to the canvas", thus clearing Big Daddy of any responsibility for Kirk's death.
Hey chaotic, thanks for your post, that is a sad story all around, Kirk really hit the bump in the road and the Big Daddy put the nail in his coffin......literally. I would be fearful of ANY Big Daddy splash, each one is a potential death blow with his size.
The usual big Daddy pantomime, Mal Kirk was a much better wrestler but always had to play along with the charade, the Crabtree's killed off wrestling with this rubbish when there was genuinely good wrestlers out there
wrestling still exists - All Star took over from Joint and is still going in 2023. Brian Dixon died earlier this year but his grandson Joe Allmark (Dean & Laetitia's kid) is carrying on the company.
Julia Brundell He gave the impression of being a real tough nut. He was of course but he had a good heart. I was his second a couple of times . Always said thanks when I gave him the bottle. He would've made a fortune in America. They would have looked after him unlike The Craptrees.
@@RageyRage82 Max Crabtree just wanted him to do that and be dominant. Look up his late 77 bout with John Elijah and the longer four round bout with Kendo Nagasaki from Solhull Dec '75 (not the short one from a couple of months earlier!) and you'll see Daddy do a lot more stuff and even be on the defensive.
Big Daddy probably won the belt like a gazillion times, a wrasslin legend. He dominates. Too bad howdy doody Bobby Backlund and him never had a battle of champions.
Backlund would easily handle Daddy in a shoot. Max Crabtree didn't like using Daddy in serious matches. If Backlund had toured the UK as WWF World champion he would have been put in clean matches with people like Pete Roberts and Tony StClair.
Like a f'kin pantomime when the bad guy goes to splash knowing the good guy is about to roll out the way, it's all scripted I know but that's just pathetic
Sammy Lee was an incredible talant.
Sammy Lee, later known as Satoru Sayama, the original Tiger Mask.
@banner74 yes, one of the best!

Big Daddy and Sammy Lee! Thank-you very much! You both have entertained me very much!!😁😂😆😂🌟🌟💛💛👍👍 .
We shall not be moved just like a tree planted by the water. We shall not be moved. That was a great entrance song for Big Daddy. Rest in peace.

Loved watching Mal Kirk, played the baddie to absolute perfection, there was none better.

Met Sharkey later in life when he'd emigrated to New Zealand, he made a damn fine brawn and had the best stories. Not forgotten
My brother always had the best stories to tell 😍 Miss him ❤️

The 'Promoters' were his own family, who all had a hand in the running of this entire farse
NOBODY can survive the Big Daddy splash.
Mal Kirk didn't six years later.
Big Daddy rules!!!
xoxo The Clarences
Indeed!!! It was a golden era
Rip King Kong

Sammy went onto bigger and better things back home in Japan as the original Tiger Mask.
Few years later the move at 09:43 performed by Big Daddy in another match would kill King Kong Kirk .
Really? I am going to search it out....

Yes.!! It all happened in the ring and sadly nothing could be done despite best efforts of those present on the night.!! RIP Mal Kirk and Big Daddy.!!
@@OhJaniceWhyOhWhy It is true...no need to look it up.
a good baddie was mal! better in singles looked like he was always taking it seriously. shame he became a jobber for the crabtrees
It kept him constantly in the main event.
i like the ninja kicker and big daddy
Big Daddy’s entire move set can be counted on the fingers of a man who had both his hands chopped off
Happy days!. We knew it was 'fixed'. But! Credit to all!, it was great entertainment!. 🙂 Nuff said.
I remember this like it was yesterday because it was was yesterday I watched it

RIP Phil. we all loved you...one of the best
Nice to hear a positive comment about my big brother 😍
Julia Brundell He gave the impression of being a real tough nut. He was of course but he had a good heart. I was his second a couple of times . Always said thanks when I gave him the bottle. He would've made a fortune in America. They would have looked after him unlike The Craptrees.
Martin Pygott thank you for your comment 😊 he would've celebrated his 78 th birthday on 27th November ....love watching and reaching this fight 😘
Re- watching I meant ...
24 stone? More like 27 stone here!
Big Daddy actually hated kids.
He were only nice in front of a camera.
He killed off british wrestling.
9:31 made me lol “aaaand another body check”
What else would it be with Big Daddy?
Literally nothing else lol! That's really ALL he did... It was so bad.

2 words (superb entertainment)
あれ?向こうのレスリングて交代に手を打たないの?
With the kids and a wife in the ring, all we need is the animals then we have a real circus!!
of course wrestling is all fixed its only entertainment
Sammy Lee went on to become Tiger Mask
Classic!!!

Big daddy and his brother craptree promotions killed off tv wrestling
easy easy......
The music and the clapping for kirks entrance is creepy.
Different time bro haha
All carefully staged after rehearsals along with discussions before hand how the match could be played live.
not really. The result and maybe the falls were agreed in advance, the rest was just played it by ear in response to the crowd.

Am I the only one who felt a bit queezy when Big Daddy had all them kids around him?
Jimmy Saville eat your heart out....LOL!
It's just a circus
Kirk died just minutes after this match.
j.d. Hogg no he didn't.
he tagged with King Kendo against Daddy and Greg Valentine hen he died.

Are you implying professional wrestling is FIXED! What evidence do you have to hold that opinion?
