For a Numark user for over 8 years with only misses on Pioneer(ddj sx/sx3 and rz) I think they finally made a good one.
We'll see on my streams, I just ordered it
Love all your videos, just bought the Rev 7, this video helped me get all my settings right, thank you.
Play It Loud!! You are the best!!
I'm TRAKTOR S4 Mk3 user. I have been a Traktor user for 14 years. I had Pioneer gear prior. There has NEVER been any gear by Pioneer that I felt was a BIG enough change from what I had in my S4 to want to go back...given the price of ANY pioneer gear...UNTIL NOW!! I preordered this the day they came out. I'm excited to get it, learn with hands on, and start using at events. I have been loyal to Native Instruments. HOWEVER, I feel they have fallen behind when it comes to cutting edge gear and innovation for their gear. Don't get me wrong, I'm HAPPY with my S4 MK3 controller and it has given me ZERO...I MEAN ZERO issues!! It works perfect and the moving platters are nice. I also felt they were a little on the small side. I had been considering going back to turntables....but then this dropped.
It's quite a nice design, the only thing that one would probably have to get used to is the location of the pitch controller. They finally embraced the spinning platter! Great job Pioneer!
I was always praying for pioneer dj to make motorized jogwheel controller . Big up Crossfader
🔥
I purchased two Denon SC5000m's (motorized) NEW for $800 each and a Pioneer DJM-450 for $650 (Open Box) - that's $2050 AKA $150 more for equipment that doesn't rely on a computer to work.
Great review! Between yourselves, DDJT, Mojaxx and Cleveland Terry, no stone seems to get unturned with new gear.
Just got mine 2 days ago , Thank you for this video , it has helped me a lot . 👍🏽
AWESOME AWESOME video!!! Thanks a lot. Just purchased the Rev 7, and this the most informative video I've seen! Thanks again!
I’m still playing on an NS7III. This is the upgrade from that unit I’ve been waiting for
Its a very nice unit and people will finds to complain about, as is the case with anything. I would say that more attention should have been placed on the removable "vinyl" as that does seem to be a weak spot. The power supply, not a fan and they could have incorporated a universal power cord, removable. How much weight would that really have put on the unit? It weighs in at 23 lbs and extra half or pound would not kill anyone.
I really like this unit from Pioneer and this coming from someone who is not a fan of Pioneer gear, no offense to those who use their gear.
Great review and congrats to Pioneer for a really nice piece equipment.
Incredible review. You covered every square inch of this thing. Thank you!
DUDE!!!! Such a great review!!! My goodness!!!! Totally want this now!!!!
Thank you! Act fast if you want one as stock levels aren't great on any DJ products right now!
Some people will say pioneer comes out with new equipment to fast as far as controllers all in ones etc..but I think they are just trying to accommodate every type of DJ they can, battle DJ Rev7 standalone DJ RX3 industry standard DJ cdj 3000 mobile DJ ddj 1000srt this a excellent unit surprised its ship with Serato out the box 📦 I just got the RX3 really really think about getting one of these Great Video as always Jamie Thsnk You
Damn they did it again
This be my 7th DJ controller from pioneer.
Yes you will be getting my money, Lol this is why we DJ happy new year.
All we want is a cheaper version of the ddj 1000. Keep it simple. Great video 👍
There's the DDJ-800 and FLX6 available if you can't stretch to the DDJ-1000
rev1 ?
After owning a ddj 800 for a year I used to want the 1000 and wondered if I shoulda have just spent the extra money for 4 dedicated channels but since I don’t dj professionally as my full time job I feel like the 800 is perfect…I can do everything and more than I used to be able to do on my cdj /djm setup…only complaint about the 800 is you have to lower volume fader all the way down and back up to control the volume on each channel and if you forget to do it then the audience will hear a track your cueing up when your not intending them to hear it…but after time it just becomes something you automatically do when you switch to a specific channel
@@Crossfader the 800 is rekordbox only
Ddj 800
Hearing what you're doing is one of the most important things when djing and the Rane One with split cue gives you the option of not having to set up a monitor. I do like the battle style layout of the pitch fader on the Rev-7 and Rane 12s and I hope Rane goes with that in there follow up to Rane One.
The display on the platters looks amazing I must say. It looks so smooth and colourful
Yesssss..... great time to be alive
This is one of the coolest controller i have ever see🤑🤑🤑🤑🤑🤑
I feel that your content is honest and unbiased. I love the features and the specs look impressive, but the platter itself has me somewhat skeptical. I'm sure it will work fine and can be fine-tuned with a little tweaking, but I'm concerned about the durability of the plastic notches that connect with the motor underneath. Looks like they could snap off with little effort. Die-cast aluminum has always been my comfort zone for any spinning platters. Everything else looks REVolutionary. Just the same... I hope Rane answers this challenge! Great review!
Thank you Crossfader for amazingly review on this ❤️
This controller looks AMAZING...🔥🔥🔥🔥
Thanks for the great review of the Rev 7 man pioneer really knocked it out if the park with this controller. It is a little pricey coming in at $1,899 but to very honest I think it’s definitely worth it has everything you need and then some. Gonna get one of these bad boys for sure.
@Rocky Tulio yes it’s a bit pricey but the DJM S7 is $1,499 so you’re basically getting that & 2 very feature packed decks for only $400 extra. So it’s not too bad!
Bren asking for this design on a controller for soooo long. Great work pioneer
I'm feeling the same way u were about the platters. When U sampled them & took them apart it seemed a little flimsy ( cheapy)... great info as always but, man I wish it came rekordbox capable too... I started with rekordbox because of pioneer being a pioneer in music industry and this was there software. Don't really have loads of money to buy new gear every year 😅. I'll still stick with my ddj1000 for awhile, still enjoying that controller too. TAKE CARE EVERYONE!
Finally pioneer are arrive the waiting controller for me.

IN-DEPTH FIRE 🔥 REVIEW AS ALWAYS
I’m so damn disappointed they left out rekordbox integration really makes me want to switch to denon sc5000m for a motorized setup they did it with the flx 6 I wouldn’t have minded paying an extra $150 for rekordbox integration.
Supply is limited due to material supply shortages. Makes sense to focus on one sodtware and only have it for serato(currently) as most scratch/turntablists are on serato.
watch them release a v2 next year with rekordbox integration to milk your money.
@@jeffdubia software integration has nothing to do with supply shortages they were just lazy
@@phrog322 it does when you have a target market and target release date......tax season.
go for the sc6000m, that screen.... ahhghhhhhghfhfhfhf DROOL
Great job.... Much appreciated. Awesome review. Helped me learn my control functions more better.
YO YOOOOOO excellent blog my guy!
I just sold my xdj xz to get this controller. For me, XDJ was a bit too much and quite big and heavy so I’m so keen to get this one!
Moving platters is what Denon has been doing for years. In standalone mode as well as Serato. Pioneer is so innovative. 😂😂😂😂
Standalone could have made this 5x better.
@@truestory2227 You are 10x correct. 👍
@@truestory2227 if they made it standalone it could push the RX series and xz series out of the market , and they don't want that . There's a reason it's not perfect . Clever ( or not so clever ) marketing 👍
Word. I loved my 3500s.
the industry standard controller being stuck with connectivity to a laptop in 2022, a tiny jogwheel display in each platter with no dedicated screen, no dual layer on each platter, no wifi, no individual motor tension/torque adjustment, and no needle search. Looks like they also ran out space and removed the CUE button, and placed the pitch fader in one of the worst positions it can possibly be, but hey its battle mode ready 🤦♂️🤦♂️
Great review, I'm still using my turntables and this is the first controller to interest me :)
Great review. I currently own a Rane One and love it. The things I would change (mixer wise) are on this unit. I plan to purchase the Rev7 is really test it out to see which one I like better. I could but an S7 and use my turntables again but I love the portability of these controllers for gigs
You should get a S11 and go back to your turntables. The S11 is the best mixer on the market. I'd steer clear of the S7, because the upfaders are soldered on and not easily replaced if they go bad, which has happened to a few people. You don't want to have to deal with Pioneer service because they are so backlogged, that people have sent in their equipment and it's been months and months without getting their equipment back. If you need the decks and S11 to be portable, just get a DJ coffin that holds the mixer and two decks in battle style. They usually come with handles and wheels so it's easy to move them around. I have one and it's great! Two turntables and a mixer can't be beat in my humble opinion... its the way DJing was meant to be done.
@@GODInTheWax444coffins are heavy as hell, especially with full turntables in them. honestly a moving platter controller like this or the Rane One is so much better for mobile gigs and will help save your back over time
@@jsobrino I hear you bro, but I'm the type that believes in lifting weights and being physically strong. I even use finger and wrist/forearm strengtheners. The DJ coffin I have has wheels on it, and even with the turntables in it, at my strength level, its not that bad to move around. I understand that some gigs can have your setup area at a crazy location at the venue, where you gotta go up steps or ramps and all types of ish, but I just prefer turntables so much I have decided I would never buy something like this. It's nice don't get me wrong, but in my mind nothing beats a pair of turntables and a mixer. To each his own though, I would never say something ridiculous like "this guy isn't a real DJ because he uses xyz". Peace and take care bro!
@@GODInTheWax444 i get it man, i’ve got a pair of turntables and a full size battle mixer that i’ve used for mobile gigs where i had to bring my own speakers too. but to be honest, making 3 trips carrying anywhere from 30-50 lbs each time is not fun. if i gotta bring my own speakers id rather just take the two trips, and have a lighter setup like this instead of a full TT setup. and the rev 7 isn’t super light either, it’s still over 25 lbs in a flight case, it’s just the lightest setup i’d go with since i love moving platters too much
That was a very helpful video, thank you!
I hope you're ok mate... Your face looks "extremely tired".
Take care and be strong💪🏼❤️
Uaauu ! They really think in everything when they build that " toy "... I'm not sure if i like much of the horizontal pitch. This is a " why not " built a very cool, complete, detailed controller and give to the users a new experience ? We have computer processing power and large ram's and hard drives and usb transfer data really fast, so why not ?
I have a rane one and have been playing it in live settings for about 6 months. After watching this review, I'd still keep my One.
Things I like about the Rev7
- Onboard hardware effects
- Display on the jog wheels
This I don't like about the rev-7
- The plates don't look as customizable than the vinyl used on Rane ones
- it needs a power brick (I like that the rane uses a very easily found power cord and is just less stuff needed in a coffin)
- The booth isn't XLR
I thought about the Rane One but when they didn’t put the platters symmetrical and aligned even i felt was a major design flaw.
@@DjTecniq that's fair but for me, that was something I noticed after I saw someone mention it online rather than it affecting my performance
@@DjTecniq that’s something that never crossed my mind when I’m djing events with the Rane One
I had the DDJ-1000 SRT but originally learning on turn tables I couldn't pass up the Rane One. The DDJ-Rev7 ticks on the boxes on my gripes with the DDJ-1000 SRT. Nonetheless, I think you hit the nail on the head with the major pros and cons between the DDJ-Rev7 and the Rane One. While I am intrigued with the DDJ-Rev7's DJM-S7-like mixer and onboard FX, I am concerned about the build quality of clip-on vinyl and plastic slip mats. Maybe there will be aftermarket replacements coming out.
Rane One is totally better.
Best walk through and review I've seen. You covered the attractive features and articulated the cons I found with the device almost to the letter. Thanks for such a straight-shooting and informative walk-through/review. Bless up.
It was about time for pioneer to make one of this
I gots mine! And it’s soo good! 👍👍
For me it sounds like that your still more keen on the Rane One than on that Pioneer product especially when I watch your summary. The onboard fx are pretty cool but on the other hand you pay quite a big extra charge compared to the Rane One
I'm intrigued about the feel of the vinyl. On the Rane One the vinyl pivots on a centre spindle as a real record would. Does the mechanical ring motion feel different to the more traditional centre spindle pivot?
It reminds me of the technics digital turntables
I have a Technics 1210 mk7 and the REV7 as I like to mix vinyl and have a ton of vinyl, so not a rane one but hopefully this comparison is helpful. In terms of feel of the platter on the rev7 compared to the 1210, it feels really good, pretty much identical except the rev7 feels more responsive if that makes sense compared to the real turntable. The turntable feels more lazy, but there is very little in it. The plastic vinyl cover I don't see being a problem long term, the thing that worries me is how long will the mechanism last under the vinyl cover on the rev7.
Motorised jog wheels should be standard to be honest , glad this is setting the bar just surprised it’s takes this long to happen with all mobile dj controllers
For real Ns7 was like 20 years ago... And now we're just getting to actually making it a standard
Nah, most don't need them, and I'm sure they add a lot to the price of the controller.
@@HIRAMECLARKEHOPS it’s an aesthetic thing from the original decks ,it’ll go a long way and it should’ve been earlier. Once all controllers have this it will be the standard which will average prices down , a bit like how touch is the standard for smartphones now, theres a time that seemed unrealistic, not needed and just expensive
@Terry Jacksonreminds me of a convo I had with a friend in 2006, he asked me why I don’t just buy an iPod to store all my music instead of fitting a few songs on my flip phone each time which never had enough capacity…I said to him one day the standard will be one smart device that can be a phone and also an iPod at the same damn time … he said….never gonna happen ……..a device called the iPhone was released the very next year. This is nothing like what we are talking about …it just reminded me of it;)
I'm thinking of purchasing one, I'm just concerned about going back I to a controller with motorized jog wheels again. I had an NS7 years ago, that didn't last long ...but worked solidly for a bit.
what happened with it?
@@dreadaniels4453 I still have it in storage, but the cue points are spring loaded and the crossfader is bleeding badly. The USB port is also coming loose.
these lcd screens are 100% coming on a rekordbox controller soon possibly a ddj 1000 mk2, and im really excited for them!
Do you think a ddj 1000 mk2 is coming up soon?! I think the ddj 1000 already has a lot of features and nice displays, maybe pioneer is in the opinion there is no need to develop anything
@@Grabbe393 maybe not right away, but thats a 4 year old controller now and its still the best around yes, but they could make so much cash with a mk2 version in my opinion, to bring it more inline with the cdj 3000 now, i agree its absolutely feature packed, but having the technology for those lcd screens in a new version seems like a no brainer. maybe bring the higher quality knobs for the mixer section. like i say small changes that would justify it as a MK 2 rather than say a whole new controller like a 'ddj 2000'. i have the 1000, i think i would sell it and get a new one just for the cool new lcd display lol not having to ve involved with the laptop at all really apart from song selection
Top video as always! Incredible bit of kit…Gutted that it’s serato only though!
Our understanding is that building support for moving platters into your software isn't exactly easy and lets face it, most scratch DJs are already on Serato so it might not have made much sense to develop Rekordbox in this way for only a few users. That said, Virtual DJ and Algoriddim DJ both support moving platters so we may see support from those applications soon! Who knows, this is all our speculation at the moment!
Serato deserves a controller like this tbh... the 1000srt is garbage in comparison to the rekorbox 1000...most vinyl djs use serato and most club djs use rekordbox so it kinda evens everything out
Amazing piece of machine! love it...
It's a nice controller. My 2 issues are it is only for Serato DJ and not Rekordbox and the price. The $1900 price tab for a controller will make DJs think twice, especially when gigs are scarce because of the pandemic. It is not worth it!
Would be cool if the DDJ 1000SRT has such screen functions.
And the loop function sorted out
Imagine if this had a touchscreen and standalone, even if it was an extra $500 it would be awesome
Prob the next version
its mean't for turntableists
I recommend checking out Denon SC6000M.
it would be at least 1K plus - as we are in the pioneer universe! probably it would be 2999,-
@True Story apparently there’s a REV 10 coming out soon. The touchscreen might be on that 🤞
Seems like a great controller for vinyl and digital!
Still waiting for a new xdj xz with four channels and a bigger screen 🤷♂️
Me to i hope this year.
me too !!!
Nice controller just not sure on the position of the buttons near the pitch fader from a DJ mixing view having seen it few times now
Where can I get those sample that you have loader in the sampler at 11:08?
Is it plastic like the SRT or Metal like the Rane One?
I know you said its not as well built as the Rane?
Also, what is the Sound? Is that as good as the Rane or are Pioneer still using the slightly inferior Sound Cards and not the ones from the S7 & S11??
It's a composite chassis with an aluminium top plate, much like Pioneer DJ's other controllers. The sound quality is superb to be honest with you, Pioneer DJ have really stepped up their outputs over the last few years, even the phono preamps sound great!
@@Crossfader Thanks for the extra info and great indepth review.
Best be seein some🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥mixes on the Rev7 droppin on this channel soon :)
This is excellent!
I was hoping the 33/45 buttons will allow some dmc routine trcks.... but its not.
Hopefully a FW update will make this into a selectable option in the menu!
Hi Jamie, was wondering if you could do a turntable tutorial?
thanks for the review, Please how can I assess the REV 7 Utility on my Laptop to add my LOGO? Please help
The utility is installed onto your computer along with the drivers. You should find it next to the utility application
@@Crossfader Thank you very much I found it. You are a life safer🙏🙏
Will they implement Rekordbox DJ in the future?
pretty sure they will, but it's not likely will be hardware unlocked
We're not sure. We hope they do but it's a lot of work to code moving platters into your software from what we understand.
Hi Jamie, great review but a serious Question, has Pioneer told reviewers not to mention the Rane One a lot in comparison? I’ve watched 3 reviews now and the Rane One is hardly (if ever) mentioned. They are direct competitors and I would’ve thought the pros and cons of each would’ve been addressed in the review. Anyway it looks like a great feature packed controller but with a price tag to match. Ouch! Keep up the good work 👍🏿
Pioneer DJ hasn't influenced our review in anyway, it's just that this is a video all about the REV7 and not the Rane One. Don't worry, a comparison article is in the works and will be available soon!
Great point @BoyBrownVR about the comparison between this unit & The Rane not being mentioned! I have watched one of those already and I can tell who the others are before I even watch them. UA-cam is becoming a space we’re these reviews are becoming so biased. At least Crossfader try’s to keep it real.
@@Crossfader ok it just seemed strange that at certain points obvious comparisons could’ve been made. I look forward to the head to head video 😂
We'll certainly do a head to head comparison, whether it ends up being a written article or a video. The great thing about this situation and comparison though is that both products, although based around the same idea/concept, have major differences both in features and price. This means that both still have their rightful place in the market which is great to see!
Good call - several of the videos I’ve seen seem pretty obvious that they’re only trying to say nice things. Clearly they want to keep a good relationship with Pioneer.
Now that you have had a little time with the DDJ REV 7. Why one in your opinion, is better for just scratching, the Rane one or the Rev7?
Yes please weigh in! Love my one yet the fx and information is huge! The sharpness of the x fader is a huge drawback on the one
the jogwheel/platter construction is the first innovative thing pioneer came up with in the last 7 years. Not sure if that fact deserves applouse. but seems they created an overpriced but great product.
Really?? 😂😂
Technics done it years ago lol. This is ancient tech.
@@daviebhoy6794 agree 100%, these platters don't even have a tension/torque adjust button for the motors like the SC5000M and SC6000M already do.
When you browse for tracks do the platter screens show you Serato track selection / playlists like on the s11? I don’t care about touchscreen just seems logical given you have two screens and can already browse through menus
Está quase lá....ainda não nenhum com 4 deck a imitar 4 CDJ
I bought this controller and a new Apple Mac, the lead going from the controller to the laptop has a USB end. My Mac doesn't have a USB port. Should I just use an adaptor or should I buy a new wire/cable with the correct ends? Thanks
Depends on how many other devices you need to connect to your laptop.
For example, if you’d want the flexibility to plug your phone, external SSD, USB stick etc. into your laptop, you may want to consider a USB-C hub.
If your controller is the only device plugged into your MacBook, then a USB-C to USB-B cable is a lot cleaner looking.
@@animalblundetto8440 Thanks for your reply 👍
Precise cuts with the fader that will be the deciding factor for most battle oriented turntablists I need to upgrade but the ranes seem to have some problems
Hi, is it possible to play songs without vinyl mode on rev7? Simply motor off and use it like a cdj. Rane one has this function.
Do you think they will make a rekordbox version? Great review!
Still waiting for an upgrade to the DDJ1000
Which upgrade do you need for the ddj 1000?
Thank you so much for this guide , just got myself the Rev 7 , am still learning how to scratch and was looking at a way to notch when beat matching. I’ve got it now .
No clue why there is no Rekordbox support. It had a rough start but it has been great for several years now. And it is Pioneer’s. Weird. Cool controller, though.
Everybody trying to reinvent the NS7 !!! I still got my NS7 that price is Crazy !!!!
Over $3000 in Canada with taxes. No standalone capabilities and only 2 channels, but hey the platters move!!
I’m returning to Djing after 38 years I’m torn between Rane Twelve set up turntable set up and Rev 7 or Rane One Rane looks more durable but Rev 7 has more features I can’t find a store where I live that has a Rev 7 on display so I can only go buy reviews and every Dj that has one one touched one says it feels more like a plastic toy ? But loves the features I am returning to the mobile Dj route and will promote my own events if I went controller route which one will hold me up longer Rev7 or Rane One
Could you please explain how I get the Smooth Echo to work with the Silent Cue? No matter what I do or how I try I’m unable to get the Silent Cue to trigger the smooth echo. Before you ask, yes, I have it enabled in the utilities settings.
Loving this ❤️❤️❤️🙉🙉🙉😍😍
Same
What surprised me the most in this video were the current exchange rates for currency
For mobile Dj which controller do you think is better? The rev 7 or flx10?
Great review!
Thank you!
Great review! You're the 1st review I've watched on this.. are they planning on making it rekordbox compatible? Cuz that will make/break it since my partner uses rekordbox..
So now we can wait for a standalone rekordbox version 😁
Still content with my Rane One, Rev-7 is still a great controller though
Pitch in horizontal mode without tonearms? Pionner you mass everything!
EXACTLY💯
Uh, that's normal in turntablism, What is your point, exactly?
Thank you crossfader for the video... As a rekordbox user and pioneer fan I feel disappointed... looks like Denon is on the lead for the upgrades
Nice 1st attempt but mixer layout, tempo slider position and platter assembly is not for me. DJs also want motorised platters and a more conventional layout. What's this "Battle DJ layout" Pioneer? Rane One has the better layout and platters. Just waiting for the 4 channel Rane controller. I'll stick with my SRT for now thanks
I’m not a big scratch dj I’m stuck either on buying the rev 7 or sz2? Any advice ? I am aware that the sz2 is longer but they do weight the same
Whats the song around 4:00 ?
Vibes - Lawrence James, it's available in our music pack :)
Is this good for beginner? I think I'll get it for first setup
Looks nice
Will pioneer be making a rev series for rekordbox...since rekordbox is their software?
Great question
The pitch faders are in battle mode, but they appear to be backwards. That will take some getting used to. I ride the pitch more than any feature. And the scratch samples are a waste of space unless they can be customized. Preloaded samples? Those will get old fast! Why put a scratch practice feature on a pro controller? Rather have a scrub.
Hi there! I have had a Rev7 for about 2 weeks now and I have had an issue with marker drift when beat juggling. My marker starts at 12 O'clock and after about a dozen juggles ends up at 1 O'clock. This happens even with the instant scratch beat loop without a laptop plugged in. So it can't be a Serato issue. Have you noticed this same issue? Thanks!
Howdy Chris Shin Aka Dj Redikulus, it propaply has to do with the software anti-drift. This video by Pri yon Joni from pioneer might help you:
ua-cam.com/video/iNdpHl5HCV4/v-deo.html
Another great review! I found it interesting that they didn’t include the double fx overlays on the pad mode, with having one performance pad feature on the top 4 pads & another feature on the bottom row. Seems like a great controller to get if you want to learn turntablism, or if you want a more portable option than bringing a mixer & 2 turntables. But as a rekordbox dj user, I’m not gonna lie, I was seriously considering redownloading serato dj pro while watching the review 😂. But I do love my ddj-1000 so I guess I’ll have to wait to see if pioneer dj cares enough to step into that realm or if the demand for a Rekordbox dj compatible controller is high enough!
im a bit disappointed... for a moment there Rev 7 was being advertised as a serato and rekordbox unit
@DJ GodsOwn ehh, I wouldn’t hold my breath tbh, lol. The DDJ-1000 situation got me thinking that they wouldn’t do that.
@DJ GodsOwn hopefully, atleast im on that DDJ-1000 vibe lol
This is dope... When is it releasing in India...
This is really like a DDJ-1000 but for scratching and for Serato !
Does it work with Rekordbox DJ? If it does this will be my next purchase
Tried transferring logo and I got transfer failed. Any thoughts on why this could be happening?
