I remember when this came out I was in elementary school and my teacher taught us the word FAD and its definition, comparing it to "rap", saying it will come and go. I remember feeling so angry and refusing her statement to myself saying that this feeling it gave me will last forever!

They were calling it a "fad" until 1990!! I remember my freshman year in college campus, I was in a dorm lounge watching Yo MTV Raps and this guy sitting next to me said rap will fade away soon. LOL! Adorable.

‘Sha-Rock’ is top five most technologically sound MC in hip hop history.
    Til this day.
    She’s slept on, because she’s a female.
But actually, she was the best MC in the group. 💥💥💥💥💥💥

I was attending elementary Catholic school (2nd grade to 4th grade) during this era, riding on the school bus when these records were coming out. Some kids would ask the bus driver to play these rap cassette tapes borrowed from older siblings. For every rap song the bus driver played, he would play gospel music afterwards the cleanse his pallet I guess!!

Lots of these people was teenagers. They did not know nothing about the music industry. The black elders of the music industry did not protect them at all. Many of them took advantage of their ignorance. This was a great group who should have been much bigger.

amazing video hip hop really use to be so dope and positive back in the day unlike today's so called rap music that do nothing but degrade themselves and black people 24/7 and constantly disrespect the pioneers of hip hop. I can't stand today's so called hip hop at all is not even hip hop is pop even the beats of today's is very digital and artificial sounded it doesn't have the warmth and rawness like it had way back then everyone nowadays rely beats on a computer is sad.

Abraham Palmer thats the biggest problem with modern rap or hiphop, the beats have no warmth, "oomph", or soul. It's lifeless.
although i disagree about the positive messages argument. The old school was still talking about drugs and sex. They just did it with more skill and talent.
