I found this a few days ago and can't stop listening to it. Not only is this just a great song, this is /the/ best-tuned Vocaloid song I have ever heard. That's especially impressive since it's in English. When Dex sings "crowd" at 2:40? My gosh I had to listen super closely several times to be sure it was still a Vocaloid and not a human. And the MMD stuff was incredibly fluid and natural, and it was also excellently edited. Everything about this production is amazing. The critic in me doesn't want to give blanket praise without acknowledging a couple flaws, so I will point out the awkward leg movement (when he lifts it to a perfect 90 degree angle and pulls it right back down) and slightly less-quality tuning of Dex's (between "my" and "heart" both at about 3:18. But I say this as constructive criticism only because they really don't detract from the overall glory that is this video. And to complete the stereotypical "things I didn't like and things I liked" review like teachers always have you do at the end of college classes, I particularly liked how you transitioned from the glitchy sounds to Dex singing "Rip me to shreds" at 3:14. I just. Wow, that was such a cool and smooth transition. And for the MMD part, I liked the camera movements at 1:42 -- it was a great visual for the lyrics. I also really liked the hand and facial movements of Daina at the "me" part of "Erase me" right after that. Tl;dr: the best Vocaloid video I've ever seen. Absolutely incredible.

until I watched this, I had never heard a good vocaloid song written with an English vocaloid that was actually recorded with English accented voice samples it helps me realize how much the vocaloid engine has to modify the clips, I listen to Japanese vocaloids a lot without anything to compare them to but vocaloids are awesome, I wish that popular Western musicians would use them more, they have a very unique sound that I think many more people would enjoy if they were introduced to it in more mainstream media

Circus-P has managed to make me like Daina *p* cause when other people use her she often sounds muffled and really nasely and so i assumed it was her natural voice and didn't like her because of it hahah but here she sounds so clear and sweet! Then again Circus-P is like a super expert with English Vocaloids ahahah
She is a bit temperamental, even compared to the other english vocalids. It's hard to control what you get with english vocaloids in general, and the editor is a pain in the ass. They tend to pronounce things really weird sometimes. (Dex is even worse. Totally emphasizing the wrong syllable, etc.) At worst you could still render individual syllables and apply manual frequency adjustments, or even edit by hand. At that point though, the fact that you are using an english voicebank doesn't really matter anymore... A good voicebank means you have to resort to that sort of thing less. It's hard to tell from the song itself how much effort it took to get there... even GUMI would sound bad in the hands of a noob. If you haven't seen it, check out "Echo" from Crusher-P. It uses GUMI English. I've never used GUMI, but I don't think that a normal person could get those results out of the box. I'd be curious how they compare though...
Honestly, I find I get better English results from the Japanese banks, ironically enough. It's much easier to control the sounds they make, and they lack that weird nasality that the English banks have. If you're trying to make a quick cover, use the english bank, because they're faster. If you want to make a really high quality cover where their English sounds super realistic, use the Japanese bank; it'll just take longer.
Rosa Blanca Yes but the issue with Gumi right now is she's extremely choppy. It's a sacrifice I'm sure they had to make in exchange for a clear pronunciation. I mean I heard that Internet Co is working on a V4 English Gumi (makes sense since she's got a V4 now) but right now she is still flawed. To make her sound like a beast takes time as her raw pronunciation can sound weird sometimes
Yet another amazing song, Circus. Dex is good 'ol Dex, and Daina's voice sounds a little deeper than examples I've heard from the past, which I personally believe gave her the strength needed for the song. The lyrics and melody have your marvelous stamp on it. I haven't heard of Ureshiiiiii until now, but for the love of Ultimate Miku, HOLY. CRAP. Those MMD skills are mindblowing. It's around the quality I'd expect from Toy's Factory or a Mitchie M video. Ureshiiiiii, that's a real talent you have there. Both of you, keep doing what you do.

i loved this song since the day it came out...it helped me get through painful times by voicing everything i felt. from then til now, it's always been daina's part that gets me, though. there's something about the way she pauses to look at dex before singing at 1:27 that just hurts my heart. and then at 1:47, when she's squinting at the camera, she seems to pause for a split-second to smile at the camera before continuing the song. yet there was something sad about that as well. the choreography was like nothing i'd ever seen before.

You should really consider sidechaining some of your sounds. The kick is a little shy with everything else talking over it. The drive of the chord progression won't be lost by ducking it, it'll actually compliment the song and allow the melody and the drums to flow evenly throughout
Vocaloid is great! So many great songs that you just wouldn't hear otherwise. On top of that some songs about mental and emotional health issues seem to give creators a way to talk about their issues and spark conversations in the comments. A lot of GUMI songs in particular seem to address things that mainstream media just doesn't talk about. Honestly, Vocaloid songs are one of the few things I listen to on a regular basis outside of soundtracks.
Okay kids, get your pie because it's conspiracy time. This sounds like they both were dating eachother, and Dex admitted that he cheated so then Daina admitted that she cheated too. You know in the beginning where Dex says "they say I don't belong here"? That's probably because someone was in Daina's house before she admitted that she cheated, and Daina stared Dex down and she convinced Dex that they were only her friend. Then, when Daina says "reach out, and don't grab the wrong hand" it's because Daina must've seen Dex grabbing another girl's hand instead of her's, or it's the other way around where Daina grabbed the wrong hand. Also, right after that she said "I am waiting" and that probably means that she's waiting for Dex to admit that he was cheating on her. Also, when they both said "rip me to shreds tear my heart out" it's because they're both sad that they cheated and broke up. When they say "without a doubt I'm the monster now" it's because they regret cheating. It's all coming together now. When Daina says "battle ready for combat, tears stream down my face" it's because Dex and Daina are fighting and Daina wants it to stop. Then, Daina says "with time I'll be replaced" it's because she knows Dex is going to get a new girlfriend. When they say "erase me, from your mind I'll just be a memory" it's because they both want to move on and forget it all happened. After that, Dex realizes that what he did was wrong and even though Daina cheated too he still wants her back, and that's why he said "hold tight, I'll be fine that I know just don't let go". Then when they both say "the curtains are drawn, to open old wounds, it's our finale, come not a moment too soon, so just say your lines, I know you'll hate mine, it's not the first time, so I know that we'll be fine" it's them both wanting to say that they want to get back together but they doubt that the other will say yes. Then they start saying "rip me to shreds tear my heart out, I am toxic I'm a fallout" it's because they're too scared to say that they want to get back together.

If you haven't seen it, check out "Echo" from Crusher-P. It uses GUMI English. I've never used GUMI, but I don't think that a normal person could get those results out of the box. I'd be curious how they compare though...
Honestly, I find I get better English results from the Japanese banks, ironically enough. It's much easier to control the sounds they make, and they lack that weird nasality that the English banks have. If you're trying to make a quick cover, use the english bank, because they're faster. If you want to make a really high quality cover where their English sounds super realistic, use the Japanese bank; it'll just take longer.

Rosa Blanca Yes but the issue with Gumi right now is she's extremely choppy. It's a sacrifice I'm sure they had to make in exchange for a clear pronunciation. I mean I heard that Internet Co is working on a V4 English Gumi (makes sense since she's got a V4 now) but right now she is still flawed. To make her sound like a beast takes time as her raw pronunciation can sound weird sometimes

Yet another amazing song, Circus. Dex is good 'ol Dex, and Daina's voice sounds a little deeper than examples I've heard from the past, which I personally believe gave her the strength needed for the song. The lyrics and melody have your marvelous stamp on it.
I haven't heard of Ureshiiiiii until now, but for the love of Ultimate Miku, HOLY. CRAP. Those MMD skills are mindblowing. It's around the quality I'd expect from Toy's Factory or a Mitchie M video. Ureshiiiiii, that's a real talent you have there.

i loved this song since the day it came out...it helped me get through painful times by voicing everything i felt.
from then til now, it's always been daina's part that gets me, though. there's something about the way she pauses to look at dex before singing at 1:27 that just hurts my heart.
and then at 1:47, when she's squinting at the camera, she seems to pause for a split-second to smile at the camera before continuing the song. yet there was something sad about that as well. the choreography was like nothing i'd ever seen before.

You should really consider sidechaining some of your sounds. The kick is a little shy with everything else talking over it. The drive of the chord progression won't be lost by ducking it, it'll actually compliment the song and allow the melody and the drums to flow evenly throughout

Vocaloid is great! So many great songs that you just wouldn't hear otherwise. On top of that some songs about mental and emotional health issues seem to give creators a way to talk about their issues and spark conversations in the comments. A lot of GUMI songs in particular seem to address things that mainstream media just doesn't talk about. Honestly, Vocaloid songs are one of the few things I listen to on a regular basis outside of soundtracks.

Okay kids, get your pie because it's conspiracy time. This sounds like they both were dating eachother, and Dex admitted that he cheated so then Daina admitted that she cheated too. You know in the beginning where Dex says "they say I don't belong here"? That's probably because someone was in Daina's house before she admitted that she cheated, and Daina stared Dex down and she convinced Dex that they were only her friend. Then, when Daina says "reach out, and don't grab the wrong hand" it's because Daina must've seen Dex grabbing another girl's hand instead of her's, or it's the other way around where Daina grabbed the wrong hand. Also, right after that she said "I am waiting" and that probably means that she's waiting for Dex to admit that he was cheating on her. Also, when they both said "rip me to shreds tear my heart out" it's because they're both sad that they cheated and broke up. When they say "without a doubt I'm the monster now" it's because they regret cheating. It's all coming together now. When Daina says "battle ready for combat, tears stream down my face" it's because Dex and Daina are fighting and Daina wants it to stop. Then, Daina says "with time I'll be replaced" it's because she knows Dex is going to get a new girlfriend. When they say "erase me, from your mind I'll just be a memory" it's because they both want to move on and forget it all happened. After that, Dex realizes that what he did was wrong and even though Daina cheated too he still wants her back, and that's why he said "hold tight, I'll be fine that I know just don't let go". Then when they both say "the curtains are drawn, to open old wounds, it's our finale, come not a moment too soon, so just say your lines, I know you'll hate mine, it's not the first time, so I know that we'll be fine" it's them both wanting to say that they want to get back together but they doubt that the other will say yes. Then they start saying "rip me to shreds tear my heart out, I am toxic I'm a fallout" it's because they're too scared to say that they want to get back together.
