Herb I play a lot of Jazz now but still do some Country and Soft Rock. I have quite a few cymbals of varying sounds and sizes from 10 inch splashes through 22 inch rides. But as I'm 81, like the lighter weight models and lacking something with a darker sound that could double as as a Crash Ride, I chose the Legacy Dave Wechl 19 inch crash. To my ears it has the darkness of the old HH and/or Bos crash/rides for Jazz but enough volume for Country and Rock. It rides beautifully when sticked lightly but with great projection when I step on it ! To my thinking this cymbal is as close as i'll ever get to a "one size fits all" Good video as you get tight to the meat without a 15 minute discourse so common in UA-cam vids 👍👍👍 David Scott
Spencer Sher Hi Spencer, It’s true, I have many drums and cymbals. It has evolved that way so that I would feel I am prepared for any musical situation that I am called upon to play. Little by little, you will get to see several of my drum kits simply because it’s not right for me to speak about a piece of equipment that I’ve never played. Presently, I have enough material to keep you interested for a few years (hopefully), and remember, I do try my best to answer requests from channel subscribers. For your information, the yellow custom wood kit played in the Sabian Weckl Legacy video is an Angel Drums custom. I will talk more about their snare drums later on. Thanks again, stay safe and practice! Cheers, HD
Keep an eye out, as I will soon be showing several of my different drum kits. For full kits, the brands I favor are: Gretsch DW Yamaha Angel Drums I was with Gretsch for almost 40 years. Now, too many great options and “free” endorsement deals are not as easy as they used to be. My suppliers are almost as good to me as a direct endorsement cost would be. I hope you end up liking what you see. Cheers, HD
