- Today we install a CAT coolant filter on my 7.3L Powerstroke, i had to replace the thermostat and thought it would be the perfect time to add some protection to my cooling system! I also give it a fresh oil change with some t6 rotella and its completely a different truck! Great oil makes a difference!

Ryan, I have watched this build from day 1 and you have do an amazing job. I just did some work on my 7.3 and thought I would share. please, please. at the miles you have (same miles I got mine at) and if considering a better HPOP, or if it has just never been replaced that you know of, Upgrade the low Pressure oil pump as well. The pump is just over $100. Melings makes a great one that gives 20% more oil flow with the updated internals. I was having a power cut problem when staying on throttle for longer periods of time and turns out my HPOP was just plain running out of oil as well as generally super low oil pressure at the block after I hooked a gauge to it. Now runs like its got 200k less miles, never better! 60psi of oil pressure cold (80-90 Psi if you start driving with oil temps under 60 degrees, 30 hot at idle on the whisper tune. you may not be having a power cut problem, but its very likely that you LPOP is just plain tired. Protect the motor and get your stage 2 injectors the supply they need!

I always ran T6 rotella and used Rev X oil additive. Work great on my 6.0 and 7.3.

Watch out for the fittings on that coolant filter kit, I had one on my 6.0 and it bursted while I was driving home lol luckily I was down the road. Just watch the fittings and make sure they’re not separating…love the videos brother!!

Couple things... 1. Any change to the operation of a truck by changing to T6 is nominal in everyday operation. You'll see good results with engine wear, but nothing noticeable while driving. 2. The fact that you chucked a Baldwin for a CAT tells me you need to do some research on filtration ratings. CATs have good marketing and good build quality. They've never been the best filtration.

Unpopular opinion but I didn’t really think the t6 on my 6.0 really made a difference at all. If not seems like it’s harder starting than when I was running t5

Seems like someone was watching VVG. Using a Wix fuel filter and using rotella, heavy duty diesel oil. Cause it had all the cut and minerals that engine needs.
That 7.3 should fire off quicker than that did you do the injectors if so can your hpop keep up with the larger nozzles

The 7.3 will always run great when you change the oil because they're hydraulic injection. It could be Rotella, or Motorcraft.
I use Rotella t4 in my 6.0 and change it every 6k miles. I have no stiction issues and no sludge issues. Shell is my go to for my diesel, castrol gtx is for my gas trucks.
Hey Ryan not knocking on the 7.3 build but can you do something with the radiator support it a total eye sore every time you have the hood open it's a badass truck bud every video you got of the truck (Since you painted it) my eyes go to that eye sore also it takes away from your hard work that you've put into it when the hoods up
What brand LED headlight bulbs do you have? They look super bright on camera haha
I was having stiction issues with my injectors on my 6.0 and it almost completely cleared up the problems soon as I change the oil with Rotella T6 the full synthetic oil really lubricates better for the Huey injection systems

Schaefer oil is pretty good. We use that in our powerstroke engines.

I really hope this 6.0 has pushed you away from the 6.4 build. Ford is out of 6.4s so those that bought them need them (sell it). The 6.0 has given you the most problems please don't try to put the 6.4 in the limo as it will be far worse!
It’s not a 6.0 it’s a 99 7.3
@Officer Lonthair even worse then. It's supposed to be more reliable then the 6.0... even more reliable then the 6.4....
The 6.0 has had multiple issues including a class action lawsuit involving 6 people and $10 million paid in total also the 6.0 is regarded as the “worst diesel engine ever made”
The 7.3 has had very few issues and has been considered one of the best diesel engines ever made

Not much on older trucks
buy a 4th gen mega cab or a lml Duramax and do a full motor build rods pistons springs valves built trans with sonax or suncoast maybe 100 overs with a 10 mm cp3 fass 200 n sump maybe a big single 472 or even a 475 over stock 6 in lift on 14 wides with spacers yes please yes please
