When a LITERAL CHILD Won Eurovision
Вставка

- Way back in 1986, for the very first time, BELGIUM claimed victory at EUROVISION! The artist to take them there was SANDRA KIM, at just 13 years old! Needless to say, her age caused quite a stir amongst some of her competitors, and had huge ramifications on the Contest going forward...

The best Euro song ever written and performed was “My Lovely Horse”.
FACT
careful now!
Last years ireland entrant was something different
I heard the person who sang My Lovely Horse was a racist now
This is why the Junior Eurovision Song Contest came to be 17 years later.
18 years before Junior Eurovision
I remember this! The first time I watched a Eurovision in full was the 1984 contest when Sweden won with Diggi-Loo Diggi-ley. I'm sure 1986 was the first time I watched A Song For Europe, so I remember Ryder winning that to represent the UK although I wanted Dreamer by Vanity Fare to win. In Terry Wogan's commentary I'm sure he says the lead singer in Ryder was the son of actor Bill Maynard, who is probably best known from YTV's Heartbeat.
Just a remark. Starting 1990, according to the rules, participants had to turn 16 in the year they were competing, even if it was after the date of the Eurovision show, which meant that they could still compete as 15-year olds. For example, when Emma Poole represented the UK in 1990, she was still 15, as she'd only turn 16 later that August. And in 1996, Maarija-Liis of Estonia took the rule to its limit because her 16th birthday was only on that year's Christmas Eve.
I believe it was only in 2000s that the rule was changed so now participants must be at least 16 at the time of the Eurovision final.
Sandra Kim, our Belgian Pride. And she keeps winning. A couple of years ago she won the first season of the Belgian version of the Masked Singer. Obviously she was inside The Queen.
A massive fan of Sandra and your country too! Exceptional winner of The Masked Singer...greeting from the UK!!
Compare the audience from then to what it's like now ( I've been to several and its madness and so much fun )
Omg the mullet on that guy from the group Icy... incredible
That set looks like the inside of the 13th Doctors Tardis.
The Danish entry sounds like the theme from Duck Tales
You should listen to the English language version of the Finnish entry, you'll really like it
Its incredible that she achieved her dream of winning Eurovision at 13 proving that youngsters can take part and win in the contest along with adults and elders at the time. I understand why the changed the rules in 1990 for safety and fairness reasons and created junior Eurovision as a better alt.
What a great little video. I always love it when you do videos on Eurovision because it is part of television history. It’s about as equal when you do videos on Doctor Who.
If every Doctor Who character had a Eurovision theme song, I would choose J’aime La vie for Mel bush for two reasons. One, it fits her bubbly personality like a glove, and two, she debuted in Doctor who the same year as Belgium won Eurovision in 1986, so it’s a real perfect fit.
The song would ABSOLUTELY fit for Mel! ✨
@@AdamMartyn yes it is. I actually have a playlist on my channel called Doctor Who Eurovision themes where I assigned Eurovision songs that I think would be fitting for each doctor for each doctor. I meant it hasn’t been updated since the 13th doctor era so no theme for 14 or 15 yet, but maybe later once I catch up. One day I’ll do a follow up playlist of Eurovision songs for the companions.
Oh no The Chipmunks 😅 9:48
Åse = Pronounced "Or-seh"
Euro
Wow those shoulder pads on SK!
I know about Sandra Kim and her Eurovision win and the controversy surrounding it
I remember watching this and feeling absolute outrage that SK won. The song was a manipulative forced sickly smile. Moreover, I was roughly the same age as SK, she’d just won Eurovision and was being forced to do my GCSEs.
(Gnashes teeth in retro envy)
Another great video Adam.
Thank you so much!
She won and she was the best
j'aime le vie is a great song
Belgium is a trendsetter in Eurovision Sandra Kim age is why we no have Junior and don't forget Barbara Dex also Belgium she has give here name for the worst dress each year
I found the orchestra very weak that year
Surely a 15 year old is as much a child as a 13 year old anyway?
1986, and therefore this contest, completely passed me by. I've watched pretty much every one since 1981, apart from this one, as my parents were going through a very messy divorce that year and I was staying as far away from home as possible. And you didn't admit to watching this thing to friends back in the '80s I'll tell you lol.
And no, Sandra's song was *not* anything other than dated and naff even then!
Was is it with these words, was a 'literal' child is it a child or not
Do euro 87
Watching all those clips from Eurovision in 1986 just shows how awful the fashion and music of the time was. Mullet Hairstyles, Drum Machines, Synths, Terrible Clothes, some other terrible hairstyles and just looing at it now it just feels so dated.
Also what does it matter that someone who was thirteen years old won it, and why the rule all contestants from 1990 have to be over sixteen to enter it.
Must have to listen to one of my favourite Eurovision songs Calm After The Storm by The Common Linnets, runner up in 2014.
Now its Euro+Aus vision
Ireland won it 7 times. Samantha Mumbai is doing it as eurosing contestant.
BTV here. You know when I requested another Dave ident review? Can you do it? Maybe do Gold's 2014 branding eventually too (you only did 2008)

Rock and roll kids is a great song by paul harrington and charlie mcgettigan
