My missus and I went to see him on wednesday 2nd March 2011,at Durham Gala Theatre,County Durham, and I must confess I wasnt expecting the Acoustic perfomance he gave, We were just blown away, still buzzing 2 days later. Every song was sung from his heart and the Violonist and keyboard players would have been at home in any orchestra, just gobsmackingly brilliant.
This man was the hero/pin up of my teenage years. I was so blessed to have seen him live in numerous occasions. Even in death, he is still one of my heroes. Bless you Steve. May you RIP Jxx
I remember this like it was yesterday. He was a folk hero to teenagers everywhere. Everyday at school people discussed him and were behind him. I can not believe how sad we all were when it came to an end. I am so glad that Steve Harley immortalised this latter day highwayman who did everything for the lolz and also was probably slightly responsible from shifting people’s perception of the Police being friendly Dixon of Dock Green characters to what they have now become. Dino’s (Orestes Babourisi) life should be made into a film.
Steve is a real life troubadour, and amazing in concert. I have seen him 4 times, but I never forget the time a few years back at the Bolton Albert Halls - in the middle of a song, the microphone packed up, I think batteries had gone, there was a hiatus of about 2 mins while they sorted it, and Steve just chatted and joked about the situation, and then launched straight back into the song with no intro or starting note given to him, absolutely bang on pitch - THAT is a real musician
Rest in peace boss, the greatest artist I ever roadied for ❤️
