  • It's been a couple of weeks since this elm had it's top severed. See how it has been doing since then and hear some of my plans for the future of this spooky tree.

    Yup, no surprise that it looks better. I've never had one of these so the growth habits and the way that it buds back from old wood really blows me away. Cheers, thanks for sharing.

    Hiya Jared. I missed your videos. Very happy to see you are back to making them. Like you, I am looking to add to my Halloween collection and have a suggestion for you. Have you considered Corokia Cotoneaster? My plan is to make a forest after the “Haunted Forest” from “The Wizard of Oz”. Join me?

    • @BonsaiEcho
      @BonsaiEcho  3 роки тому

      Sounds fun! I’ll do some research. I haven’t kept corokia yet.

    Nice bark. Mine is over 20 years old and the bark is smooth. It is getting some orange spots. Clearly another variety of chinese elm. Both are cool. But yours is spooky 🤣

    Awesome tree!! Looks like a angry orchard tree.will you persevre the carving with just lime sulfur?

    • @BonsaiEcho
      @BonsaiEcho  4 роки тому +1

      Just lime sulphur for now. I’m ok with it rotting out more since I want a more defined hollow at some point.

    What do you spray on them in the winter. I think I better spray something 9n my trees this year.

    • @BonsaiEcho
      @BonsaiEcho  4 роки тому

      Dormant spray. Diluted lime sulphur is one option.

      @@BonsaiEcho what are you using to winterize the tree? I also have one and it is my first.

    • @BonsaiEcho
      @BonsaiEcho  4 роки тому

      I’ll likely leave it out for the winter unless it gets super cold and windy. Snow is fine, but cold and dry winds together are bad in many ways.
