I haven’t felt this level of realness from an artist in a long time. Doechii is everything and im appreciative of her sharing her art with the collective cause we need it. Pop your sh*t queen, cheers to The Swamp 🐊
Shout out Jayda for making sure Beverly Hills made it to the final cut. She was a 100% right. When an artist is as versatile as Doechii, every project has to have a lil bit of everything she has to offer. They were deep in their bag on that one.
She's lucky to have a recording label that allows and lets her do what she feels is the right thing for her to do, even when they disagree with her. That's real artistic collaboration and freedom.
@AlysiaWilliams-oy5ti thats why my mom stopped, she used to do fashion but you gotta start under somebody and they tell you what to make down to the color, button etc...she couldn't breath
This was such a dope breakdown. I'm in a hard phase in my life. So, when I saw this video from my favorite artist beginning to end. It sparked something in me. Also, when doechii made this mixtape I immediately felt relieved. It was well crafted, personal, and real as fuck.

THIS ALBUM IS ONE OF THE BEST RAP ALBUMS. I still can’t stop listening to it. Deserves so much attention. I was inspired to write. A really good video. I’m a fan now.
Doechii is so incredibly BEAUTIFUL and talented, her spirit and energy is so pure and enticing. I love you doechii so much, i hope one day we can meet 😭💖
@@adamdevereaux2713 Honestly I didn’t care for Beverly Hills that much but, it’s definitely a great song! But, I absolutely love Fireflies because, it was so different and beautiful at the same time!!
Man this was amazing. She dropped a lot of gems in this and I feel like a lot of big artist are struggling with trying to make these viral moments instead of making things that are real and true to them and it's not benefitting them. Also, what Jayda said about people using different genres to be vulnerable but not rap was facts as well.
I love hearing her explain this process bc she truly believed in herself and ATEEE! She is super creative, talented, fun, and honest and you can see that in this mixtape. I'm glad she was able to tell her story musically exactly how she wanted bc she deserved to have that moment and other artists really resonated with her work. She's about to go allll the way up career-wise!🙌🏾
I had to comment on the honesty I felt through the screen and the speakers in this interview. Feels real good. I heard it's not perfect for you right now but, your energy is beautiful right now, just like you.
I'm so glad Jada made that point at 11:30! I'm so tired of that narrative, especially on behalf of non-black rappers in the scene who utilize the genre of hip hop for a come-up while constantly othering themselves from being identified as "rappers" only to shed their personas when they want to make "real music." Rap music has always had depth, has always been real!
I think any artist should be free to explore all sounds and genres they want and not be "labled" and boxed in...categorize the art not the creator. Did you consider it inauthentic when beyonce switched genres? What about pink? What about lil nas x? Was it a cash grab when Christina did back to basics? Or does your gatekeeping only apply to hip-hop, which at a certain age, has had a hand in raising and influencing all of us? The list goes on. Let folks create and choose to consume it or don't. Culture is a shared experience, not an ethnicity or race. It's that simple. I've never heard anyone say hip hop was not "real" music.
@sonyap8253 culture is not shared if no one offers it up to share. Sharing requires asking anything else is taking. Do you remember anyone asking first? I'll wait. And you already revealed your confusion in your own statement, "I never heard...". Also calling it gatekeeping proves the point as well. If we're gatekeeping then no permission was given for "sharing". Your entire response shows lack of comprehension because you contradict yourself consistently and it's a response of someone taking without looking to give with entitlement laced in each word. You don't even know what we're talking about but jumped to respond because you felt offended? All up in the Kool aid and don't know the flavor. Also what you think doesn't supercede the thought of the people actually of the culture you're discussing. You can't make the rules cause it's convenient for you. The genres the artist you mentioned switched too were all still our culture ironically it wasn't shared but appropriated and so now you think the switch is to something not of us, but if you knew something before responding your answer would've been coherent. Your entire rant is a straw man argument of things we never said. The discussion we're having is about specific people you just bringing up random irrelevant examples of people exploring music that's already of them and appreciated by them. We're discussing the opposite. Did Beyonce mock country? Did any of the artist you named mock it or describe it as "not real music? No so what are you babbling about? And you brought up Christina why? Another thing "back" implies she'd been there before, your question about the cash grab should refer to the albums where she wasn't returning because that would be the genre switch. Again you do not know what you're even talking about, you're just talking.
@KyongKreated the way I don't capitalize shit, not even my own name, and that's autocorrect, an old name that's probably in the dictionary, unlike the others. Be blessed looking for outrage everywhere. You a miserable mf 😂

I love Doechii! ❤ Been watching her when she did storytimes while she was in highschool and i watched while in middle school. And seeing her manifesting this and going to TDE and music label buildings and getting signed was her goal and look at her now. Proud of you Doechii, you are talent personified. 💖
She's such a breath of fresh air musically! I'm glad she touches on how you need to feel music and how it has to have and how those things should always matter more than making 'hits".

If media outlets focus more on the music it can almost “re-program” the consumer to care more about the art over BS gossipy stuff. And maybe artists will put more effort into their work again
