So glad I came across this reaction channel! Thank you for the love! My real name is Lynette Williams but “Hammondgal” is a nickname because the Hammond is my first instrument and love 💙🤗 🎹🎹
@@Hammondgal1978 I’ve been listening to this set several times a day, everyday, for several weeks now, and I’m still not over it. Textbook obsessed with this performance

I am rather hard to impress (I used to be head of the export department of one of Europes biggest independent distributors - you get spoiled with promos ) but this performance really killed it like nothing I have seen for years. The whole band is just outstanding, everyone absolutely irresistible on its own and altogether even more as the sum of its parts. I want to see this band live over her in Europe !!!! This would kill it at Montreux (I would say - although I am more hiphop guy). If you want I can get you in contact with the booker of X-Jazz Festival over here in Berlin - we know each over from the time I managed the label of Jazzanova and he did the booking. I really hope this will be released as well Lynette. Are there any plans to get it out and tour with this ? Cheers Tom
I want to point out how great and talented DJ Miss Milan is as well. Her parts are in the background, but still very difficult timing and emotion wise. She does amazingly, just like every single member of this amazing performance, but I feel like she doesn't get shouted out enough. I first I was a little "meh" on a live DJ, but after (many) repeated viewings, she really adds so much to the entire performance.
I just love that Doechii included her because Milan brings so much to her other performances when she's actually Dj'ing. Watch the Camp Flog Gnaw performance
YES!! She has such a powerful presence too! That woman didnt get up from her chair for a sec during the entire performance and yet there was such flow, movement, she was precise and felt so much bigger, even when there wasn't much for her to sing at some points. That's artistry!! amazing!!!
When the musicianship is so sharp within the entire band that you can't keep your fingers off the keys, can't help but drum along, can't help but bop your head...that's MAGIC. I hope she considers working with this group for future projects. Even beyond their individual skillsets, the way they gel is just incredible.
I said the same thing, I just LOVE LOVE LOVE this as a whole. Every element brings something so so special to the table. It makes a star out of each member and as incredible as Doechii is, this performance would not have met this stardom level without everyone. Them horns man… whooo.
For the arrangement question, her albums which this is all from do not include a live band. This entire group and arrangement and performance was put together with a week of rehearsal. That's it. The only one who worked with her throughout is the redhead DJ Miss Milan.
Funny thing is the late great Miles Davis shared his frustration with white musicians always playing late rather than on beat during a video interview. I just think some have it and some don’t. Also depends a lot on what rhythms and artists you listen to. As a bass player I get how those micro shifts affect the tone of the music. I mean funk tends to train you to play a little late. Bop not so much.
@@lez0nI’m not a musician, I’m a dancer but I am in love with all kinds of music. I love watching them create the music with their bodies and I create my interpretation with *my* body from what their music creates in my soul. I find it interesting the discourse regarding on beat, behind the beat, late- just after. I interned at a huge studio in NYC and then I took classes in LA. The difference in region produced a difference in result. NYC taught individuality- the duality between performing exactly what the choreographer created but putting your own flavor on it. You can do the exact choreo so many different ways. They taught to live in the beat. But, when I went to LA- the concentration was producing everyone to look and move identically. As one. Wait for the beat then hit. I’m from Philly, so my soul lies in individuality ultimately. When I stepped back and watched LA dancers - it looked like robots to me. And I think the same of the mass music production to come out of record labels. As opposed to the music created in the NorthEast. So many underground artists and musicians because they refuse to compromise on their values and what makes them special just to bend to money or fame. I prefer it that way.
@@rockyrox4591 That’s fascinating! I get your value of individuality. Once I get in a groove I can’t help but play with it. I don’t just want to replicate it, I want to connect with it on a personal level.
@@lez0nwell you wanna be on top of the beat for bebop. This style of jazz is nestled behind it more often than not. I mean it kinda has to be when eighth notes aren't equal
He came across my timeline and I was genuinely curious to see how he would react and I was not disappointed. I’m subscribing.. he would absolutely love Kendrick Lamar.. Smino. Earthgang. OutKast. To pimp a butterfly would blow his mind.
This was Doechii right off of her tour. She was primed and ready to pay this homage to her love of Hip Hop and her influences. She was trusted by her label to be left alone in the studio to make this album and be herself and pour it in. The syncopation and artistry of the musicians was what her vocals COMPLIMENTED. She highlighted her musicians. It was ALL them and she was vibes. I am truly happy I got to witness this. Doechii is an A R T I S T!
I hear Busta Rhyme,Missy Elliot,Nikki Minaj all mixed in her style. BTW that's why we listen to your videos to hear what you have to say about the music. Me personally I already seen the Performance several times already. This performance made me a fan. You just feel good when it's over.
She's listed them all as inspirations, as well as Lauryn Hill and Kanye West. I really feel like she's carrying on the tradition of old school hip hop into 2025 without sounding dated 🔥
It’s so cool to see people who are getting to see doechii’s performances connect the dots of her being a performer and storyteller (given that she was a theatre kid) 13:51
All Black women in her band and they all (but for the drummer) have the same hairstyle. She had two backup dancers on the Colbert performance and their hair was all braided together. So intentional and beautiful! All the music and artistry warms my former band kid and music major soul fr. I play clarinet and tenor sax so I got SUPER excited seeing the tenor instead of the alto you almost always see!!
YO the drummer and base absolutely NAILED the timing on this. How often have you seen a rapper rap over a fucking base guitar and live drum? Not a drum on loop but an actual drummer, an actual bassist holding it DOWN. Thank you for giving them credit cuz rap needs a steady beat and they FED her.
Have you seen Kendrick's live performance with an Orchestra and live band? Of not, look into it. It definitely is moving and fabulous when rap is paired with live musicians like this demonstrates as well
If you haven't heard it I'd highly recommend Lous and the Yakuza's at home Tiny Desk. She's another very talented singer and rapper with a live band including a bassist and drummer. She's Congolese-Belgian and performs in french so she doesn't get a lot of american attention.
How does guy just know how to replicate any tracks he hears on spot? That's crazy. Just hear it and replicating is like freestylin off the dome and he makes it look easy
When I used to play piano, my teacher would make me close my eyes and would play a couple notes, then I'd have to try and play it back. Super hard, but takes practice. I quit before I mastered it! : (
That horn refrain was Digable Planets... but they got it from "Stretching" by Art Blakey & the Jazz Messengers. "Rebirth of Slick" The breathing exercises are Slick Rick London born NYC based hiphop pioneer. James Brown/ take em to church ⛪️ praise break. "Whhoahh got you all in check" Busta Rhymes...ear person was absolutely correct😊 When Doechii mentions she wants to " astroproject out of America" the guitar 🎸 plays the main riff from a song called " Bag lady'" a song about the different types of baggage Black women carry. This is the first time im watching this channel. I am happy the algo recommended you. I see your passion. You were just itching to join in on the keys 🔑 😂❤ I loved the all Black woman in braids assemble. Hip hop and jazz are that first time falling in love relationship. Although its been Gone for a while( there is a reason for that) the book 📖 called "The Death of Rhythm and Blues " written by Nelson George who gives the reasoning behind why the record labels wanted to remove live instrumentation. I could go on but, this comment is long enough!
These are the videos I enjoy the most, when David discovers an incredible artist. I’ve been listening to Doechii since she was called IAMDOECHII and had 200 listens on her track. To see her do this Tiny Desk, and to see her being enjoyed by yourself, just makes my day. Hope to see more Doechii content ❤
I love how you started with saying you don’t like explicit language and then loved every single track for the music and not all the cursing. I’ve fallen in love with watching people react to Doechii
You can just tell her band is having the time of their goddamn lives. The room is electric! Everything I've seen from Doechii has such vibrant creative energy. I haven't been this excited for an artist in a long time.
So happy to hear your take on this. Another viewer commented on the fact they took a week for rehearsal, after coming off of a tour (w/o the band), which is crazy; then I learned she put this mixtape together in a month, as well. Crazy work. It was also arranged by the saxophonist. Just amazing artistry. Chef's kiss. 🐊🐊❤️
15:30 In musical theater/ dancing we refer to it as musicality! You FEEL the music, its not just playing/actung. The best performers all have that inate understanding of it and how beats and music and the body work together.
I love seeing you love on her. She said in an interview that she pulled this together after rereading her journal, and that yes, it is all true. And she put this concept album together with her sound engineer in only a month. She's phenomenal.
It's such a testament to Doechii's skill how much you dug her and not even a hip hop listener. This is the level of talent in Hip Hop the culture wants the world to know of. Im so thankful she came along. Hip Hop is experiencing and upheaval and transitioning back to its roots. This is its roots
There’s a difference between watching a musician react to this performance as opposed to just anybody. Don’t get me wrong, people give it the hype it so clearly deserves but all the little intricacies that go unnoticed get the recognition they DESERVE and it’s why I watch this guy. Love it.
“I write on my couch, or drink a glass of wine at night and cry, and record by myself when nobody’s around.” She said this in an interview, there is also a video of genius that she explains some of her lyrics
I love that you make the effort to shout out all of the musicians by name. So many people treat the supporting band as NPC's, but they're real people who put their souls into this.
Thank you so much for touching on her insane sense of tempo. She is so good at rapping quickly it would be easy for her to rush the beat and she doesn’t. The pocket she sits in sooooo satisfying and I really think it sets her apart
Doechii's sold out tour for her mixtape ABNH was just her and DJ Miss Milan. If anyone wants to know what that experience was like, check out her Camp Flog Gnaw performance!
I actually love how much you pause. If i just wanted to listen to the performance again, i would go to the og video. You add actual content and even though I've already seen so many reactions to it, you do a great job in guiding me to focus on the music. Also it's very respectful that you pulled up the band members names. Great video
Doechii is everything!! Few things bring me more joy than watching musicians discover incredible artists outside of what they play. Shoutout to the session players who do it for the love of the game.
44:46 I was actually tearing up. I’ve always had this special relationship with music and felt it really strongly, I’m a pianist raised by a drummer and bassist. Jazz is my love language. I keep playing this tiny desk and cry every time. It’s perfect music to play in the background as I’m writing my novel.
This is one of my favourite tiny desk performance.. and repeatedly.. im obsessed with her. Her band is just delicious. And yes she writes her music and her real experiences, her interviews of breaking down her music and the story behind it is worth watching. She changes up her style in her music and is incredibly talented and talks about her inspiration from other artists like Eminem, Nicky Minaj etc. Shes creating a whole movement and an appreciation back to hip hop that I've missing so much.
As someone who grew up with a very classical training (I played the violin for many many years), it's super interesting how all types of musicians have this sort of rhythm/groove within themselves, like a metronome just as you said! For us, we move our upper body in a way that allow us to connect with the music we're playing, so to hear your perspective on how it goes for jazz/rock musicians is fascinating. Got to know your channel through this review as I'm a big big Doechii fan since 2019, but I'll have to subscribe given how knowledgeable you are plus I want to dig deeper into jazz music. I'm a 90s girl from Western Europe who in spite of growing up on American R&B and Hip Hop, I never got the chance or influences to learn more about genres that might have not been mainstream but as I grew older I connected to soul, funk and disco music A LOT to the point they're one of my favorite genres of music, so I feel like I need to learn more about jazz music given how deeply intertwined these all are :)
17:25 Yes, everything about the song Denial is a River is true. Doechii has given an interview for Rolling Stones here on UA-cam where she has explicitly said that she felt like the way she could be the best version of herself as an artist is to be honest and truthful in everything she puts out. She has a need to be transparent, as it helps her grow as well as connect to her fanbase
@@Hammondgal1978 I hope this gets a sequel somehow. The vibe of this entire band is magical. You're all such great musicians and as a whole, this performance was picture (and sound) perfect. I've enjoyed every second of it. It's been a long time ago since music touched me like this. Thank you, all of you.
My favorite new artist, yes the story is real, abs she writes, choreographs, plans all her songs, performances etc, she can do it all and is truly unique and a mega star in the making
This is exactly how I reacted when I first saw this performance. Absolutely blown away by how intensely I felt it and I totally fell in love. I've watched it several times since. It's soooooo good.
My wife showed me a few Doechii songs and I really liked them so then showed me this performance and I was completely captivated. I couldn't look away. Absolutely phenomenal performance. I'm obsessed.
I am glad to find someone who speaks on how amazing and talented these musicians all are. The jazz vibe is what pulled me in to my first exposure to the Swamp Queen...and now i am obssessed.
I'm not American. I only discovered Doechi days ago on her short denial is a river and thought what the... And so she's on tiny desk... And omg... I can't stop listening to this. Thanks for adding to the performance.
this is my first time seeing your reviews and you are fantastic! i love your perspective and openness and I can't wait to look into some of your suggestions! thanks for appreciating one of my fave artists!
I’m 2 mins into to your review and I am excited. I was excited when I saw “jazz musician” reacts. I paused at this time, because you just said you’ve never heard DOECHI’s music before. As an OG over 55 year old, who grew up listening to everything from P-Funk to Genesis, YES, Isley Brothers, ZAPP, Return To Forever, Weather Report, Miles, Freddy Hubbard etc 😅… and ALL the Rappers over the last 40 years. I can finally see a DOECHI review from a person who will catch all the bass riffs, horn section etc 😮. Okay… enough talking … on to your review. Oh… and, yes, I just SUB’d to your channel 😊
It seems like this women just having a party. It's like they would do that all by themselves without an audiance or studio and still deliver it like this, becuase they love what they do!
I have never seen an artist make a huge breakthrough like this off of a tiny desk performance so kudos to her for really perfecting it (ps I know she already had a bit of a breakthrough but this performance alone is kind of introducing her to the mainstream)
I like it when reviewers pause to give thier thoughts on a specific point. If i wanted to listen to the song i would go listen to it, im watching a review to hear what someone thinks about the music.
The songs on this tiny desk performance have a all new arrangement (tho of course it features the melodies, rhytims and grooves of the studio tracks, the instrumentation "quotes" a few songs like Erykah Badu's "Bag Lady", C Murda's "Down 4 My N’s", Isley Brothers' "Between the Sheets" and Diggable Planets' "Cool Like That", these are all exclusive to this performance. I do not know exactly who is responsible for the new arrangements, my best guess is that it's a very collaborative process between the band and Doechii, I imagine Doechii probably did have input on it since she seems to be very intentional with everything she does. Great video, love the insight you brought to it.
I don't mind and actually love and appreciate all the pauses! Usually when I am watching a reaction it's because I've already seen the performance and I want to see how other people react and interpret it. So keep up the excellent work and sharing your passion with us on the interwebs!
Idk if anyone can relate to me on this but let me know! I especially love watching SPECIFICALLY musicians react to music I enjoy, because I feel like they listen to it in the same way that I do. Watching other reactions is fun and all but there’s always a bit of depth that I feel they don’t acknowledge compared to what musicians notice. I can always relate and feel so justified and seen whenever I watch videos like this. I’m not a musician btw lol! But I feel like I listen to music as if I am one. Music is definitely a hyper fixation for me, and I always feel like I’m over exaggerating about how strongly I feel about music until I watch videos like this. I wish I was gifted with an instrument like David and everyone in this video is! I love when he can’t help but jump in when he notices the melody. I also love when David call the musicians by NAME!! It’s so humanizing! And I love when he acknowledges the unsung heroes of the entire operation (mixers/ engineers etc ). I just really love this reaction and appreciate when people notice every single detail. i just really appreciate the amount of love being displayed here. A lot.
I just discovered this Tiny Desk today and I was totally blown away. Everyone in the band is terrific. I want to see them live ASAP. I bet it's rapture.
This was such a special Tiny Desk performance, it was so obviously remarkable but it was super lovely to hear you dissect in more detail just what I was hearing and loving so much.
The level of musicianship here goes up even more when you take into account that most of them only had 5 days together ❤🎶 I was happily surprised to see you reacting to this. Thanks for a very enjoyable reaction!

I was smiling so hard watching you watch this video 😁 You seem to be genuinely enjoying it, and it"s great to see I had so many words and feelings after watching Doechii's tiny desk that i havent expressed but you did a great job putting a lot of those things into words 👌🏽
I saw the concert first and I knew it was something that went above and beyond, because I don't typically gravitate towards hip-hop music, but this concert blew my mind. But I want to thank you for giving me another perspective that makes me appreciate this even more and for putting your thoughts into words when you feel like it's the right time!
Really enjoyed your reaction. This performance completely moved me to my core. The band is pure perfection. A masterclass in dynamic, subtle, badass musicianship. I can't get enough. I've probably watched the concert 40 times at this point. Great to hear your enthusiasm too.
I remember back in middle school orchestra, we were so in tune with each other. One day our instructor was late for class, our lead violinist would start our lil tuning session and then we all started practing the piece we were learning. It was all about communicating with our eyes, our breath, and movement. It was such an amazing feeling every time we did that. It's such a thrill that I wish I could feel again. And just like this live session, we didn't have anything, but ourselves (no metronome in the background either at times, which just felt even more lit). But ya, I really do miss those days. Unfortunately, once high school hit, it didn't feel the same because a lot of the students in the class were only there for the credits :(
That was one of the best and most in-depth reactions I've seen. I don't know much about music theory, but it was very interesting to listen to your thoughts. Even though you've already said that you're not the biggest rap fan, I'd still like to recommend two more Tiny Desk Rap performances. Little Simz is an incredibly talented artist from the UK. And secondly JID, he took extra singing lessons for his new album and performs some of these songs live for the first time at Tiny Desk. Happy New Year and best wishes from Germany.

@@Hammondgal1978 I’ve been listening to this set several times a day, everyday, for several weeks now, and I’m still not over it. Textbook obsessed with this performance
Lynette! I LOVE YOUR PLAYING! So happy you saw this. I got the Hammond Gal like 3/4 of the way through. Love to hear you rip up a Hammond! Be in touch david@musicshedct.com and keep bringing your incredible music into the world. ❤️🎹💥
@ thank you!!!!!!!
Cheers
Tom
Thank you for your amazing performance ❤
I want to point out how great and talented DJ Miss Milan is as well. Her parts are in the background, but still very difficult timing and emotion wise. She does amazingly, just like every single member of this amazing performance, but I feel like she doesn't get shouted out enough. I first I was a little "meh" on a live DJ, but after (many) repeated viewings, she really adds so much to the entire performance.
DJ Miss Milan killed it. It would not have been the same without her 100%.
I just love that Doechii included her because Milan brings so much to her other performances when she's actually Dj'ing. Watch the Camp Flog Gnaw performance
@@korqui.p oh, sweet I'm gonna check that out too. Thanks!
YES!! She has such a powerful presence too! That woman didnt get up from her chair for a sec during the entire performance and yet there was such flow, movement, she was precise and felt so much bigger, even when there wasn't much for her to sing at some points. That's artistry!! amazing!!!
29:02 i love how he said “these guys can play ANYTHING” as if unknowingly foreshadowing the “i can be anything” of black girl memoir
🥹
They should get a Grammy for this Tiny Desk! So dang fun!
Amen
YES
I totally agree
When the musicianship is so sharp within the entire band that you can't keep your fingers off the keys, can't help but drum along, can't help but bop your head...that's MAGIC. I hope she considers working with this group for future projects. Even beyond their individual skillsets, the way they gel is just incredible.
I said the same thing, I just LOVE LOVE LOVE this as a whole. Every element brings something so so special to the table. It makes a star out of each member and as incredible as Doechii is, this performance would not have met this stardom level without everyone. Them horns man… whooo.
*hears brushes*
“Yeah I already like this”
Lmfao exactly how I was
For the arrangement question, her albums which this is all from do not include a live band. This entire group and arrangement and performance was put together with a week of rehearsal. That's it. The only one who worked with her throughout is the redhead DJ Miss Milan.
I believe the trumpet player did these arrangements
Wow. Incredible.
The back up singers are her biological sisters
@@ir6yi6yc4ktrae no they aren't.
@@ir6yi6yc4ktraelmao no they are not
also black artists usually sit just behind the beat. thats a groove adapted from blues, and gospel. its in the dna now
Absolutely. And they all can play with the beat will. On, in front, behind… it’s all to create tension, a wider beat, push and pull.
I can't wait to hear a Doechi /Kendrick Collab.
Throw in JID too, that would be amazing!
It will be insane!!!
This is one of the best reactions to this Tiny Desk performance that I've watched! 🔥
He came across my timeline and I was genuinely curious to see how he would react and I was not disappointed. I’m subscribing.. he would absolutely love Kendrick Lamar.. Smino. Earthgang. OutKast. To pimp a butterfly would blow his mind.
real.
agree!
100%
Mic drop :D
9:42 "listen to how when she's rapping.. her voice is like a saxophone or a trumpet, it's like she is-- it is a rhythmic instrument." yes!
This!! That's what I saw as well, she picked these awesome women and then she made sure they all SHINE, she's being a girls' girl in truest sense.
And Dr Octogon
It’s so cool to see people who are getting to see doechii’s performances connect the dots of her being a performer and storyteller (given that she was a theatre kid) 13:51
Righttttt
A churchy theater kid at that 😂‼️
this felt like a tiny true rap opera
It shows in her music
All Black women in her band and they all (but for the drummer) have the same hairstyle. She had two backup dancers on the Colbert performance and their hair was all braided together. So intentional and beautiful! All the music and artistry warms my former band kid and music major soul fr.
I play clarinet and tenor sax so I got SUPER excited seeing the tenor instead of the alto you almost always see!!
I love it!
It definitely is moving and fabulous when rap is paired with live musicians like this demonstrates as well
@neotheboxer I will, thank you!
If you haven't heard it I'd highly recommend Lous and the Yakuza's at home Tiny Desk. She's another very talented singer and rapper with a live band including a bassist and drummer. She's Congolese-Belgian and performs in french so she doesn't get a lot of american attention.
@@lasagnahog7695 sounds like my vibe, thank you
How does guy just know how to replicate any tracks he hears on spot? That's crazy. Just hear it and replicating is like freestylin off the dome and he makes it look easy
Good aural training
It just takes practice!
It's just like learning another language, like singing, when your hands know where to go just like your vocal chords do.
"Rebirth of Slick"
The breathing exercises are Slick Rick London born NYC based hiphop pioneer.
James Brown/ take em to church ⛪️ praise break.
"Whhoahh got you all in check" Busta Rhymes...ear person was absolutely correct😊
When Doechii mentions she wants to " astroproject out of America" the guitar 🎸 plays the main riff from a song called " Bag lady'" a song about the different types of baggage Black women carry.
This is the first time im watching this channel. I am happy the algo recommended you. I see your passion. You were just itching to join in on the keys 🔑 😂❤
I loved the all Black woman in braids assemble.
Awesome
I love this channel, too.
I truly appreciate your passionate breakdown - Zan. Amazing
@@mebarrhi1064 Thank you for taking the time to read all my rambling ❤ and thank you for the compliment ❤😊
Do go on please, I loved reading that!
These are the videos I enjoy the most, when David discovers an incredible artist.
I’ve been listening to Doechii since she was called IAMDOECHII and had 200 listens on her track. To see her do this Tiny Desk, and to see her being enjoyed by yourself, just makes my day. Hope to see more Doechii content ❤
finally jazz musician react to this jazzy Doechi version 🤩
Welcome to Doechii's world! I've seen her live and realized immediately I was witnessing greatness. She's something to behold.
Zuri Appleby 100% conquered my heart on this one. Can't take my eyes or ears off her.
I love how you started with saying you don’t like explicit language and then loved every single track for the music and not all the cursing. I’ve fallen in love with watching people react to Doechii
I use plenty of that language, I just try really hard not to do it on the channel! ❤️🙏
She didn’t overthink it, she went for it.
It's such a testament to Doechii's skill how much you dug her and not even a hip hop listener. This is the level of talent in Hip Hop the culture wants the world to know of. Im so thankful she came along. Hip Hop is experiencing and upheaval and transitioning back to its roots. This is its roots
THAT PART!!!
I'm not a hiphop listener either, but this TDC blew me away and this reaction video explained why it did. I'm an instant fan of Doechii.
The chemistry between Doechii and DJ Miss Milan is INSANEEEEEE! They are on the same wavelength
There’s a difference between watching a musician react to this performance as opposed to just anybody. Don’t get me wrong, people give it the hype it so clearly deserves but all the little intricacies that go unnoticed get the recognition they DESERVE and it’s why I watch this guy. Love it.
“I write on my couch, or drink a glass of wine at night and cry, and record by myself when nobody’s around.”
She said this in an interview, there is also a video of genius that she explains some of her lyrics
I love that she had background rappers. I never thought anyone would ever outdo Tank and the Bangas tiny desk, but she did.
Listen. Tank and the bangas. Phew!!!
I actually love how much you pause. If i just wanted to listen to the performance again, i would go to the og video. You add actual content and even though I've already seen so many reactions to it, you do a great job in guiding me to focus on the music. Also it's very respectful that you pulled up the band members names. Great video
Doechii is amazing. Great to see you experience her for the first time.
All Black female band! Yes!❤❤❤ Love it!
Look up the history of the bassist. She’s a beast.
I’ve read somewhere that the trumpet player arranged the instrumentals for this tiny desk. Absolutely amazing musicians all around
We all did 💙🎹
@@Hammondgal1978 I hope this gets a sequel somehow. The vibe of this entire band is magical. You're all such great musicians and as a whole, this performance was picture (and sound) perfect. I love this Tiny Desk because you can tell on top of how great they sound and preform together, that they’re having FUN
THIS IS BEST THE REACTION VIDEO EVER!!!!! I love how you appreciate her brilliance - Doechii is IT. Best tiny desk of all times.
I'm not American. I only discovered Doechi days ago on her short denial is a river and thought what the...
And so she's on tiny desk...
And omg...
I can't stop listening to this.
Thanks for adding to the performance.
Wait- have you done Kendrick Lamar’s To Pimp A Butterfly? It’s a Jazz, Funk, R&B lovers dream!
this is my first time seeing your reviews and you are fantastic! i love your perspective and openness and I can't wait to look into some of your suggestions! thanks for appreciating one of my fave artists!
This is everything to me. I’m so happy Music Shed found this Tiny Desk.
Homie got a chubby, fell in love and is probably ready to risk all for doechii. Lol. You can tell this man knows and loves music
If i wanted to listen to the song i would go listen to it, im watching a review to hear what someone thinks about the music.
the thing I love the most about these reaction videos is seeing people so excited about music, musicians, artistry and genius
This is a masterclass. These ladies are the best in the biz!
Your delighted and appreciative response to Doechii is SO refreshing! Thank you.
Rap is amazing. It can literally incorporate every genre.
It is your reaction to the music, you can pause as much as you want. I am here to see your reactions 😊
I’ve had SO much fun just watching person after person react to this performance
This tiny desk blow my mind

Love Doechii so much ❤
I'm watching your reaction for the 3rd time now🙈 Your reaction is as joyful to watch as her performance!!!
I loved it! Happy New Year! 🎆

I was smiling so hard watching you watch this video 😁 You seem to be genuinely enjoying it, and it"s great to see
I had so many words and feelings after watching Doechii's tiny desk that i havent expressed but you did a great job putting a lot of those things into words 👌🏽
I just watched this Tiny Desk for the first time today. I hadn't heard of Doechii before. It's fun to watch this reaction because I was feeling it the exact same way. So much talent! They are amazing.
I've watched many reaction videos of Doechiis outstanding Tiny Desk performance. The musicianship is on another level. You are absolutely correct with the drums and bass as the driving force of the performance. I get the same feeling from Carter and Stefan from the DMB. Well done Doechii and the all women band. ❤

OMG! I can't believe you're doing this, I'm so happy 😂.
One of my faves of this year and it’s so cool to see people of all stripes and disciplines all give her love! I gotta say - as someone who’s been in lots of bands, seeing how every single musician is emotionally and physically INVESTED in every song, it’s beautiful
Yes - the cut from Digable Planets! Doechii's sick skilled - just phenomenal. Like Tank & the Bangas too, in the way you were referring to the tension and tempo. The all female band is exquisite.
This performance is perfection. Music like this gives me chills.
I have never watched one of your videos but I really loved hearing your insights and appreciation. When I first watched this Doechii concert I was blown away.
So satisfying listening to this performance from a musician’s perspective. I can see that you hear and feel every piece of this performance and are able to break it apart and explain the different instuments and the role they play. Beautiful review
