I went to a Joe Walsh concert a few months after Glenn passed away (April 2016 LA Forum) and Joe did a very nice, respectful tribute for Glenn, Joe is a class act.
What a tragic loss for anyone who came of age in the 70's listening to the Eagle's. They penned a soundtrack for a generation that has now been passed on to a new generation of young fans through their parents. Glenn seemed like a genuinely nice man that had that rare talent to be able to write and sing lyrics that almost anyone could relate to. And thats not easy to do. RIP Mr. Frey, and thanks for all the wonderful music.
+Thetripletman60 Back in 2005 I took my daughter, her new hubby and my lady friend to LA to see the guys at the Staples center. I absolutely loved those guys. I felt a kinship with Glen as I too am a Midwesterner. (Chicago) I've also had a 41 yr career as a pianist/singer and I learned all the Eagles songs and enjoy playing them to this day. I couldn't thank them enough for the pleasure they brought to me. Like you I am deeply saddened by Glen's untimely passing. I was disturbed greatly that Glen got sued by Felder. I cannot forgive that act by the former guitarman. Peace Brother
+Joel Barry ~~ That's a fact for sure, Joel, I'm with both you and musicmatty67 on this, it leaves such a huge hole in what the Eagles will do now. Is it over for the band, will they go on with just Don, Joe and Timothy as the Eagles or will this be the end of one of the greatest musical groups ever?!?! Losing Glenn is a horrible tragedy, very saddened by the loss of this great man/performer/singer/song writer!!!! RIP Glenn, gone but never forgotten!!!!!!!!!!!!
+play4u67 Hello play. It is comforting to hear from folks like you. Sharing these sad feelings with like minded people eases the pain a bit, albeit a very small bit. I'm a 70 yr.old grandpa and a pro musician too. Glen and Don's songs were the backdrop to my everyday life as well as my romantic involvements. I got married to "Best of My Love" and in many ways lived life in "The Fast Lane" myself! Moreover, I like Henley and Frey as human beings. I detest those who come here to disparage them based only on rumor. Their music has brought pleasure to millions worldwide and will continue to do so. A fine legacy I say! When my 8 yr.old grandson rides in my car he often asks to listen to Eagles songs, not their ballads, but their rock tunes. I pray for peace and security for the Frey family and please Lord how about a warm welcome for Glen Frey, "The New Kid in Heaven" Sincerely, Joel
Joel Barry~~Very well said, Joel...Nothing more to say here except, Raise those glasses everyone to Glenn and thank him properly for all the wonderful years of pure genius and dedication that he gave to his craft so that we, the fans in return, could appreciate it also!! You've got your grandson onto something there Joel, and this is exactly why the Eagles will always sore high and proud and be remembered for all time!!!! Take care everyone and please have a "Peaceful, Easy" and wonderful "Feeling" always!!!!
So fortunate to see the Eagles in 1976 in Anaheim with Jackson Browne and Linda Ronstadt. ZZ Top was also on the bill. What a show! Saw them in the early 80's, and Frey was the man! Great man, great band! Mr. Frey, you will be missed.
What an honor it was to see these guys in concert in Moncton New Brunswick a few years back, all dressed in their black suits and ties, they were amazing. I was only about ten years old in the early seventies, I loved them then and love them even more now some forty years later. The biggest part of my life they were there, even when they took their fourteen year vacation! Their music will out live all of us and more generations to come. RIP Glen Frey, much love to all of the others.
I agree. I originally saw them before they broke up. I have loved them too for 40 years. Their music was & still is a big part of my life even during their breakup. Glenn was my fave & when I first heard he had passed, I was devastated. I never knew that he was fighting the same disease (RA) that I have. I miss him every day especially his laugh. He gave us as fans so much. RIP Glenn. You are missed by many
What a talented and accomplished musician and lyrist. I can't believe he's gone. He looked great 9 months ago. It's so true one never knows how long we have....that's live life to the fullest.
oh Glenn. I am so sad to hear of his passing. So unexpected and still so young. Been a fan for years. This was a wonderful interview. I am beyond words. r.i.p.
Arguably, Hotel California is The Eagle's most recognizable song, and ironically most of this song is the work of Mr. Don Felder!! And Don Henley/Glenn Frey fired him because they wanted 2/3s of The Eagles's revenues all to themselves. Don Felder is Super Nice Guy, but he sued and won!!! RIP Glen, but treated Don Felder, the best guitarist The Eagles ever had terribly!! Very sad!!!
Thats some great insight about Cameron Crowe basing Russell Hammond in Almost Famous off Glenn Fry.. little tidbits like that make the film such more memorable in my opinion knowing that it comes from a real experience Crowe had gone through.. RIP Glenn.. The Eagles will be always be remembered as a huge part of music history for there amazing songs and unique sound but most of all they were top notch masters of harmony, vocally and instrumentally!
Uncle Glenn is the most influential person I've ever met. I was in my early twenties. It was after a Concert in the lobby of the Peabody Hotel. I had parked there and just by "time and proximity," I met him, we talked, he told me "you asked the smartest question I've heard all night." All I asked was if he knew if Bob Seger would be touring any time soon. That was very special for me.
Who picks at people like this, calls them half a man. Nobody is in anyplace to do that. Not you, not me, nobody. Be nice, he looked great, spoke eloquently, he was taken away too soon. The rest is not our business, or do we know. RIP Glenn Frey.
+Kate Murphy You are so right. I hate all the comments on the Eagles videos about what a bad man Glenn Frey was, what he did to Don Felder, etc., etc., etc. Not one of those people ever met him or interacted with him, but even in death, they judge and criticize. He was a great guy, a super talent, a perfectionist, committed to doing the best he could as he led the Eagles! RIP, Glenn Frey. You are so very missed!
@@Pookie2807 he took being a performer and artist very seriously.. he was the founding member with Don Henley.. everyone else should have been happy to be there. Don Felder was a writer on Hotel California and a big part, but he was not the eagles. Wasn't there best song either in my opinion.
Saw Eagles perform 3 times in California and then later after I moved to Texas. They played in El Paso, May 22nd 2015 for the History of the Eagles Tour. I saw them the night before we took off to Cancun for vacation. We just happen to have a flight out the morning on 23rd, so we got tickets to see them, since we were going to be in El Paso at the airport. I just talked about the Eagles the whole time I we got back! Little did I know he would pass away that year. I'm just grateful I saw him one last time.
Such a lovely eloquent , humble beautiful attractive man it is unbelievable that Glen has passed away such a great loss ,but Thank you God bless him and his family RIP 🙏🙏💖♥️♥️
Very good interview....Dan Patrick did a great job making Glenn Frey comfortable and opening him up. It certainly is sad to Glen so vibrant so close to the end of his life.
Having a parent who passed with similar condition, it tears your heart out, because one is unable to take all that pain away from them, it's just harrowing......boxes of medication pile up, when the disease has taken over one feels so useless especially when the Dr's give up and say there is nothing more we can do, as a daughter of a mother who died of colon cancer and it's complications. I feel for his Children no matter what age the emptiness will never be filled. They are lucky to still have their mother alive, may she have years to live to be there for her Children, as she is holding the fort, she is the main pillar now, as one may say RIP Glenn Frey.
+francein summer I agree with you. Listening to It's Your World Now, it makes me wonder whether the doctors had given up and told him there was nothing more they could do, and that he knew he didn't have that much longer to live, so he wrote this song as a goodbye to his children..... I could be reading too much into it - but I'm sure he knew that his health issues would eventually claim his life. And what you say about Glenn's wife is true, but she also suffers from Lupus, so it will be doubly hard for her.
Thank you for the information I had No idea it's a Bloody disease, I hope and I am sure she is taking care of it . The song can be interpreted in many ways all the lines have a message though Glenn Frey wrote in 2007, there are 2 lines " Be part of something good, leave something good behind". This was the song the "Eagles", posted after confirmation of Glenn's death as a tribute to him, so I agree with you, it says it all, take the last bow Mr Frey.
I have severe Rheumatoid Arthritis & it has taken away alot. The strange thing is that it's given me a way to look at life differently & enjoy each day, even when I'm in pain. Wow..great lasting music. some of these guys in the early days made it to stardom while they were still learning. Glenn had the chops. He was raised as a musician playing piano. thus he was truly the band leader. Sadly the Eagles are no more. I doubt that Henley will carry on carrying the torch with out his brother in arms. RIP music man. You were truly one of the best of the 70's in radio power for a reason. Because you were. Your torch will burn forever in music history.

Always liked the Eagles. Remember them when I was growing up in the seventies. Had the good fortune of seeing them in Toronto, in 1994, when they got back together. Saw them again in Buffalo, NY in 2003. Sorry to hear of Glenn Frey's passing. What a lucky man to have such a talent, that the world was able to discover. Thanks for all of the good music.
I’m still missing him SO MUCH, but I must say that Deacon Frey and Vince Gill have carried his legacy ahead, and it’s bittersweet, but Deacon is the spitting image and Vince is such a diverse and iconic musician that I’ve concluded that they were the ONLY GUYS that could even try. And, they’ve done well.
Love EVERYTHING about The Eagles, except the way they treated Mr. Don Felder, who contributed all those wonderful and creative guitar parts we all know very well. And Don Felder created perhaps The Eagles's most well known song---Hotel California!!
Such great and true words! Glenn is jumping up and down EVERY TIME Deacon tunes up and sings ANYTHING! Deacon is the literal spitting image and energy of Glenn!
Always really liked Glenn. He always seemed like such a great and funny guy. This is such a tragic and heartbreaking loss. Still hear his songs and have to remind myself that he is gone. May he Rest in Peace
"I worked for Jaegermeister that night." LMFAO. Thanks Dan. Glenn was, and will always be an inspiration for me, as a human being and a musician. RIP Glenn...I really miss you.
Sin duda...Gleen Frey és y será siempre el mejor exponente que revolucionó la música ...Uno de ellos en particular que lo inmortizó es el tema THE HEAT IS ON
No more stormy nights, no more cloudy days. I’m assuming that this has been true for Glenn since January 18, 2016. Not even assuming, but praying that this is the case.
Had Glenn not had R.A. I believe that he would be doing the Eagles touring with the group as before. But looking for other things. The acting bug had gotten ahold of Glenn and I believe that he would've been involved in doing that as well. He loved playing golf and enjoyed watching Basketball, Baseball, just about every sport there is. God Bless Glenn and R.I.P. always.✌️❤️🎶🎸
Nice to see Glenn mellow with age, having learned some tough lessons along the way. Miss his songwriting. The shows will be a little different on the other side.
This is the first time I've seen this interview. What is so disconcerting is that he looks so good and in exactly 9 months he was dead. Absolutely shocked when it happened but what was more shocking was the lack of any tributes to this great musician. I'm still not over the shock.
Attention all trolls who want to leave negative comments: Get a life. Disparaging comments aren't going to tarnish the legacy of this man and his music that will live on forever. Your life's work however, will not.
I LOVE Glen Frey. G-D bless his soul. Humorously I noticed and counted the number of times he says "YOU KNOW". Part 1 had 65 times (at around 11 minutes) and Part 2 had 52 times (at around 16 minutes). TOTAL: 117 times!! of "YOU KNOW" ( in about 27 minutes) if I did not miss any of them :)))) RIP Glen.
@@dreamcatcher7939 I just could not help not noticing it as I have a very sharp ear for speech and music. It was just funny, that's all. I love Glenn Frey.
*Yeah...being married and being in a band share much in common...especially the 'forgive and forget' part and 'give and take'...unless you're Don Felder* *Then it's 'Go somewhere and die!'*

I gotta admit, I generally found Glenn to be a bit full of himself, but here he is pretty cool. Relaxed, congenial, funny. Quite a revelation. I liked what he said about Joe Walshs' dad, etc. It's very unnerving to know he's living on such borrowed time here. He seems so healthy. Bummer. Glenn is definitely missed. R.I.P.
Looking at Glenn's hands you can see the arthritis in his hands and as I too suffer from the same disease he seams to be in good spirits it's a hell of a rollercoaster ride one day you're up next day you're down.😛😛😞😞
I can see what you're talking about with his hands. I also have Rheumatoid Arthritis as Glenn did. It's an invisible disease because people think that you look like nothing's wrong. I agree with you on it being a rollercoaster ride both physically & mentally. One thing that I have learned from Glenn that he fought the disease as hard as he could. It didn't stop him from living life on his terms. I miss him everyday. My thoughts & prayers are with you Barbara.
If I sucked that bad at trying to sing like I know I do, I'd rather not embarrass myself in front of GLEN FUCKING FREY. It was so bad I had to stop the video. That look on Glen's face was priceless. ...lol...
Hey Dan, 30 years ago he woulda killed doing the National Anthem. Now he's too old. You were asking what was the first thing to go for rock musicians? Their voice.

Sin duda...Gleen Frey és y será siempre el mejor exponente que revolucionó la música ...Uno de ellos en particular que lo inmortizó es el tema THE HEAT IS ON
He looked and sounded so well. RIP Glenn
It is very sad that Glen has passed. May He Rest In Peace!
Thank you Glenn
"it breaks your heart when someone leaves
and you don't know why"
No more stormy nights, no more cloudy days. I’m assuming that this has been true for Glenn since January 18, 2016. Not even assuming, but praying that this is the case.
Had Glenn not had R.A. I believe that he would be doing the Eagles touring with the group as before. But looking for other things. The acting bug had gotten ahold of Glenn and I believe that he would've been involved in doing that as well. He loved playing golf and enjoyed watching Basketball, Baseball, just about every sport there is. God Bless Glenn and R.I.P. always.✌️❤️🎶🎸
Unbelievable a year later Glenn Frey passed away God bless him RIP 🙏 beautiful man RIP his wife and family Such a beautiful man
Nice to see Glenn mellow with age, having learned some tough lessons along the way.
Really miss Glen Fry. The it was like losing a friend the day he passed.
Attention all trolls who want to leave negative comments: Get a life. Disparaging comments aren't going to tarnish the legacy of this man and his music that will live on forever. Your life's work however, will not.
Antistar
look at Glenn's face when he sings - starts at - 8:54 i am crying laughing
Great Detroit (Royal Oak) Guy. He will be missed. Quick witted and fun. RIP
Miss him so much
Glenn was super talented and a great person.
Don't get caught up on the silly squabbles and ego things. Just listen to some of the best music ever produced and enjoy.
I miss this guy so much!
I LOVE Glen Frey. G-D bless his soul. Humorously I noticed and counted the number of times he says "YOU KNOW". Part 1 had 65 times (at around 11 minutes) and Part 2 had 52 times (at around 16 minutes). TOTAL: 117 times!! of "YOU KNOW" ( in about 27 minutes) if I did not miss any of them :))))
RIP Glen.
@@dreamcatcher7939 I just could not help not noticing it as I have a very sharp ear for speech and music. It was just funny, that's all. I love Glenn Frey.
@10:08 "You know what, singing is just like skiing, you don't have to be great to have a good time" :-)
One of my favorite quotes from him, and I have SO MANY that I love. But, he was spot the f$&& on!
Glenn was the Buddy Holley of my era...American Frey
What a neat guy. Generous with his time and talent. Fritzy you sounded like that guy on American Idol who sang Madonna's song.
Incredible musician and fun actor
Always liked Glen down to earth.
Lovely man, great video. Ty.
*Yeah...being married and being in a band share much in common...especially the 'forgive and
forget' part and 'give and take'...unless you're Don Felder*
*Then it's 'Go somewhere and die!'*
What a Lions Fan. he always wore a Dallas Cowboys Jacket back in the day
Helluva nice guy.Cant believe hes gone.

RIP Thank you...🎧🎸🎼
Looking forward to seeing the Eagles again this year. Deacon will be there, I bet Glen will too.
I always saw him as a socially awkward person, with a good heart; that simply did not come off well at times. A bit Aspergers, perhaps.
B lister: "Can I sing with you guys?" Joe Walsh: "Sure, just not on stage."
That was hysterical
If I sucked that bad at trying to sing like I know I do, I'd rather not embarrass myself in front of GLEN FUCKING FREY. It was so bad I had to stop the video. That look on Glen's face was priceless. ...lol...
It's All about Perspective!●
Man, I miss Glenn.....RIP
Hey Dan, 30 years ago he woulda killed doing the National Anthem. Now he's too old. You were asking what was the first thing to go for rock musicians? Their voice.
+Lynn Turman .. The Truth he wanted to say was his tits was not big enough...Truth is the Truth..*America wants Boobies*
That suit will really draw the Eagles crowd.
