You are right when you say that capitalism can influence democracy in a negative way. When competition among big corporation enters politics, when big companies fund political parties , field their lobby and try to influence government's policies for their own advantage then it is indeed bad for democracy. But Capitalism can also help strengthen democracy. Best example is revolution in Information and communication technology. Capitalist completion have given us fast, instant and cheap means of public discourse. Using social media, using internet, people can now easily criticise government, oppose it's policies and raise their voice. Without capitalist completion this would not have been possible. You have to see both sides of the argument.
