that mentor legion dude was Nisk Ran Thwall, chapter master of the mentor legion. the ship is the old school stormbird (the one bigger than thunder hawk) there were a few black and white pics in RT book with it and WD of the day. sadly i had to give up on my mentor legion as first born have been killed off :( (was gonna use plastic mk VI). so i switched to scythes of the emprah
The mystery logion in red is the Fleash Eaters. To be exact it is the Legendry Assault Company the Jaws of DOOM! Pray for Death because they answer those prayers. Cool old stuff.
Daves art is wonderful . He is certainly one of my fave Games Workshop artists. He has created a hell of a lot of art for GW over the years . Great video , i enjoyed watching .
This makes me very nostalgic. I remeber all those pictures. I think the 2 fortress pics are in the WHFB/RT seige book. I still hafe it so will have to look through it soon. They prob alll appeared in WD too
So APPARENTLY...THOSE DINOSAURS ARE ACTUALLY AN EARLY TAKE ON TYRANIDS! (WELL ACCORDING TO WEEB & SQUIB, WHO DID AN ENTIRE video on it!🤣 Which was awesome!)
I'd like the middlehammer plastic Mighty Fortress. I'd be too scared to build the oldhammer polystyrene MF if I had it! I saw a rumour somewhere online that the plastic MF may be rereleased for neuwarhammeroldworld?
Since you ask im no armour expert but we all know it should be a lump of bluetack wish can be removed after spraying so the glue used to attach said shoulder pad dosnt sit on paint😂😉😉
@@SnakeWorksStudio ye I mention them because I wondered why has he put blutack on the shoulders then realised glue must not work well on top of paint and he still has shoulder guards to attach, hope that makes more sense can't remember why I even commented lol,
If you check the new mark 6 power armor kit. Their shoulders have a socket for where the shoulder pad connects
These old artwork videos are great! I had several Boris Vallejo calendars as a teen in the 80s. His art is so metal!
I did a study on him at art college. A fantastic artist!
It's the Rocky IV Drago haircut. That's where the 80s madness for it comes from.
Shaven are beasts of Chaos and would occasionally join chaos warbands back in the day before they developed their own lore.
Wow cool fact, I like how neurons used to show up as chaos androids back in space crusade🤣

Hasn't legends got you covered
Love that old artwork. Great video so far, good editing too. Also The red marines are "The Flesh Eaters".

White robes were worn by magos. So high ranking cog boy helping the space marine dress.
I've heard that Mac Daddy C is squatting next to two Tyranids rather than dinosaurs.
The dragon slayer was a White Dwarf cover. Number 88 from April 1987.
The inside cover lists the piece as Dragonlady Copyright David Gallagher.
They would be the flesh eaters. Blood angels successor chapter.

I love the old school wh art. It’ giving the both games more magical, exotic vibe and unique style and character
definitely not dinos, back then nids were more reptiloid, they even have the side spiracle ears of the old hunter slayers.
Exactly. Those are Tyranids.
The fact you playing Super R-type music in the background
Two 80's crew cut exponents- Val Kilmer and Dolph Lundgren.
Cmon, theyre the same person ..😂
I wish I had a magic Ultramarines toilet with two taxidermied hunter slayers.
Those aren't disagreeing Calgar. If you look up the original tyranid illustration in Rogue Trader they're probably taxidermied versions.
I think the Dragonslayer was in Warhammer Fantasy Battles 3rd Edition of Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay.
Ty for the mentors lore 🙏

I was just talking about Battle Beasts today - I had so many and wished I had saved them
I think that piece being put on is the piece you speak of. The larger shoulder piece will be put on over that.
Back then, Dava G.'s art hooked me about 40,000 times more than the photos of painted minis.
Great video and I agree that David Gallagher is a great artist
Men in the 1980s often had a crew cut like that. I had one as it was pretty dope, tbqh.
Get a picture of king Charles in power armour. I wonder what chapter he would wear 🤔
Brilliant, love it

Everybody knew Bebop was the pig!

Squats 2024❤
Jeeebus.. people not drilling their barrels freak me out. How can you not do that?!
I have seen the box for the Mighty Fortress. It was a photo of the completed kit. Sorry.
Speed up to 1.5 for normal talking speed
You have never seen a buzz cut/crew cut in real life?
Crew cuts are army common. That's a flat-top and requires a bit of maintenance. It's really a Rock 4 haircut.
Its a Flat Top
