- Ever wanted to upgrade the wheels on your Weber Kettle? Well, you're in luck because today I'm gonna show you how to do it for less that $30. This is the BIG WHEEL MOD!
For this mod, I purchased the following:
10" pneumatic wheels - www.harborfrei...
5/8 threaded rod - www.homedepot....
To lengthen the third leg, here are your options:
1. The "Tom Horsman Method"
• How To Do The Leg Exte...
2. Shower curtain rod replacement -
www.homedepot....
3. More wheels!!! (optional, but more fun)

Only thing that Weber needs now is a 2-stroke engine and a steering wheel. Great vid!
Lol! Totally agree! I wish I could have put a motor on it. Ha! Would be cool if Weber offered some wheel options.
Ape hanger handlebars!
Couldn't stop laughing watching the kettle roll back and forward out of frame, was not expecting that hahaha! Nice work, sir!
ok just lost it toward the end the kettle going down the road. Great job man
Lol! I was thinking that might get a few laughs. Thanks for watching, Chris!
When that kettle became fully mobile, I lost it!🤣🤣🤣🤣 That sh!t was funny as ever to me.
Lmao I wasn't expecting to see that Weber screaming across the yard like that
🤣🤣🤣
Yeah excellent B roll, super funny
You can give the wheelbarrow-hotdog guy some competition.
Hey Jon! Nice Mod with detailed instructions. 👍 Now lets go off roading grilling! 👍 Metal On! \🔥/
Thanks, Ken! I thought you’d like this one.
Harbor Freight had the wheels for $6 this weekend so I had no choice . . . . For Weber22 folks - the axle I finished with was 27.5" and front leg 22.25" One thing I found was it seems back heavy, like wants to tip over towards the new wheels. I'll look to add weight there somehow but all in all makes the Weber much more movable, to avoid rain etc when in cooks. Bravo sir, great job!
You can go with an aluminum rod and end caps, but it will cost you a bit more. I’ve thought about doing that for my PK grill.
Great use of all thread rod :-) Cool shout out to Tom Horsman :-) Looks like a Honda ATC Weber Kettle now :-) A "BIG" thumbs up :-) ROCK ON!!!!!!!
Would be sweet with a remote controlled motor. Lol! Thanks for watching.
You got me off the couch with this mod! 👍 omw to harbor freight. Thanks for sharing
Resourceful and gutsy. Impressed!
Hey! Thanks for watching! I think even 👩🚀 might enjoy this one!
Use the tubeless tires, who wants to deal with with flat tires. Also, he was already there when he removed the cotter pins! Just use the same axle slap on the new wheels, replace pins done deal. Better tie it to something heavy, in Florida they like to walk off the patio and hold on to the fence when it storms.
Just finished my upgrade. Great plans. Thanks!
😎
It's the hotwheels edition. Love it.
Awesome Jon!! All terrain kettle... wish Weber invested in better wheels for their grills.
Definitely would be cool! Phil would have liked this one. I specifically used the same music he used in one of his kettle mod videos. Hope you’re doing well!
Doing well... thanks! Hoping to put a video out soon...
I see this upgrade on one of my kettles real soon.. Awesome job
Thanks, Louis! I know you have few lying around to experiment with.
Hey John,
Cool Mod!! I was thinking caster of som kind on the front before you showed the dually, cool. I can just see Phil in Florence commenting about this mod John, wish he were still here with us. J
I debated showing that option. You can buy a expandable caster mount to fit any size pipe/leg. Not expensive either. Like less than $3. I just didn’t want to wait on shipping. Besides, I like the bigger wheels better. Your right that Phil would have like this one. I specifically used the same music he used in one of his Kettle mod videos to give a nod to the man.
@@RaleighSmoke You have a good ALL TERRAIN option, I was just wondering about for my patio and for a locking option, thanks John.
@@RaleighSmoke Do u have a link for that caster John?
@@RaleighSmoke very cool about the music
@@campmeatbbqcampmeatbbq7951 - This was the one I was thinking of, but I’m not sure how it would work with the leg being at an angle.

Well done sir.
Thnx!
Very clever!
SAAAWWWEEETT MOD! I know this video was made in 2021 but since then there have been some AWESOME after market accessories to come out for the Weber Kettle. I recently added a Spider Grills Venom air controller and I just ordered a Hunsaker Air Diverter. Should be here soon. I'm in Apex we should get together and do some grillin! This weekend I'm smokin some pork belly to be used as bacon.
Thanks for sharing this. This is awesome
I'm going to do the same thing to my Weber but I think I'm going to try using solid rubber wheels because I don't want to constantly have to air the tires up.
Smoother ride with the pneumatic
Imagine telling the wife you can't grill cuz your grill has a flat
I dig this mod- might knock this out over the weekend
Not as cheap as it once was, but it’s still a great one. 🍻
That is awesome!
Thanks!!
Cool stuff man! That‘s awesome.
Thnx!
Very cool mod. Great video!!
- Thanks, Keith!
Overland weber kettle
😂
Awesome
Love the mod. But I couldn’t catch the hardware you used.
So it’s a locking nut and washer behind and in front of the wheel
And on the inside of the leg what was it
There’s no textbook way to do it. It’s all 5/8 hardware. From the outside in I did a lock nut, lock washer, wheel, flat washer, nut, flat washer, leg, flat washer and nut. I’m pretty sure that’s how I did it.
SWEET!
Great mod. 🤘🤘
Indeed! A little unnecessary, but fun!
Thanks for the video! Quick question: the Weber wheels that you removed in this video came with your kettle grill from the factory or did you upgrade them before this video?
Factory. Mine is an anniversary edition.
@@RaleighSmoke
I had no idea those wheels came from the factory on Weber Kettles, thanks for getting back to me. Those wheels look like the same as in the Genesis or some of the Spirit line, I wonder if they will work on the Weber Performer and the non anniversary edition Kettles...
@@x-man4702 oh, I bet they would
@@RaleighSmoke
By your screen name, looks like you're in Raleigh, NC, correct?
Love this!
Question: This is a 26 inch weber, correct? Will my measurements be different if I'm doing mods to a 22 inch weber?
This is the 22”. Sorry for the delayed response.
Very cool :)
Waked!
🤔 Thanks for watching!!
I feel like I’m missing something. By tightening down the wheels, they stop spinning freely.. no?
The wheels have built in bearings.
Lol I love it
Thanks
How much you spend?
$30 maybe….That was before inflation tho…. 🤷♂️
