Who knew Marvin cutscenes not being triggered would have a major impact on the areas he's not even in? Even after two years this game still surprises me.
@damiandelmar4372 this is not real life. in a game, having an horror setting zone without music or enemies made you constantly fear what's next, the zombie on the other hand are easy to kill or avoid when you know the game
@damiandelmar4372 i think, its like the genre change from action (killing zombie) to horror (silence, abandoned places, possible ghost?). Plus seeing place that are usually bustling with people so empty and disarrayed would unsettle most people (ex. the empty mall after closing)
@damiandelmar4372 late reply, but well... if i would choose in real life a empty dark place (not so dark actually rpd) or a place full of zombies, i choose emptyness, no matter how slow they are
Just shows you how on his game Marvin was. Barricades were holding, no zombies anywhere (don't even have the balls to walk in the lobby while Marvin's around) but Leon had to waltz on in and be saved, distracting Marvin and leading to everything falling apart
Cutscenes are still technically part of the game, and before or during certain cutscenes character models get loaded in early (like Marvin being the reception) so they can smoothly load during scenes
you got it right, it's called prefabs, some game assets are already loaded at a certain coordinate usually (0, 0, 0), waiting for scripts to move them to the place.
@TheSCPStudio No, don't need it. Some prefer it to an invisible object though. Maybe concerns with texture streaming on a console with a slower hdd for example.

Love your videos, they represent this specific feeling when you're doing something that you're not supposed to do which allows you to see things you're not meant to see
So basically most games uses "CUTSCENES" as "LOAD SCREENS" where the game is preparing the next phase when you are watching a cutscene in order to the game load their assets correctly the cutscene needs to give the "Green Flag" first. Good video man!
No, it does not work like this. It places the game mechanics; enemies, items, puzzles, etc, based on triggers. He skipped one trigger so the game does not put in place the mechanics. Loading in this game works differently, and it is working just fine despite the skipped trigger. Everytime you change room, it loads all adjacent rooms in memory and unloads which are not adjacent anymore in the background.
There's only one thing that I think you missed. At 13:15, after finally meeting the unbugged Marvin, what would happen if you finally interacted with the animation where he pulls you out? Would the game state go back to the beginning or would it be completely ignored?
It’s really amazing to truly feel “behind the scenes” of this game & know that many things won’t work unless you’ve accomplished the other task. Everything is one unique puzzle. Thanks for sharing this. I wonder if there’s a way that you can tell at which point in time Marvin is activated.
@@bers6666 you think this is like opening photoshop or something else xD is not... yeah it will easy to apply the same technique since is the same engine but still you need to find every hex code for the new game and implement the same work just like RE2 and still needs work.

it can't be done...unfortunately the code of the game is so advance...this is why, even after a year in the modding community we can't add more characters to the game just like in the old games.

Surprisingly enough, if you teleport yourself to the reception right before Birkin's second fight you will find Annette Birkin where Marvin is. I guess the game will load a character to that position before they appear in a cinematic scene.
So Marvin is the main antagonist. All the zombies wanted is to avenge their fallen comrade. You know the one that wanted to give leon's wallet back to him.
What happens if you make it to the other side emergency shutter where you collect the guards notebook without actually triggering the scene where he is torn in half? Like what if you just went back around that first hallway when you picked up the fuse instead of going to the shutter?
I had the same glitch with Claire! I just launched the first save after completing the game and.. bang! No enemies and even no doors, empty police station. I thought it was my PC's fault!))
My main question is where was Marvin after Leon & Claire showed up? Was he camping out somewhere, waiting cause you can't get through the shutter and the door requires a Spade Key, who knows maybe he was watching TV or just lounging about
