    I think Novak had a chance. During the time he was playing tennis, there were no other challenging tennis players except Nadal and Federer. Considering the 80s and 90s, they were lucky. Names like bir becker, edberg, lendl, sampras,agasi, kuerten, mcenroe, ivanisevic, cafelnikov, bruguera, jim courier, krajieck, corretja, blander are the first ones that come to my mind. Additions can also be made to these. Unfortunately, the lack of star tennis players decreased, as in every branch of sports, and these three made good use of it. We never underestimate the successful ones, but the lack of strong opponents has helped them win a lot of tournaments.

      @@Holyspace305 I respect everyone's efforts and success. Take a look at the grand success of the names you mentioned and the ones I gave as examples. Even the 1 name I gave were great players who won more championships than the sum of the ones you mentioned. The tennis players you mentioned are as good as the other names that I did not comment on so that it would not be long. I write this as someone who personally followed the tennis players of the 80s and 90s and watched their matches even on TV. I respect your opinion too. These are my own thoughts

      @@sinyor1974 This is a very casual take tbh. There are only so many titles to be had, and because the Big 3 were so dominant, there were less titles for the others to take as a result. What I mean is, it's dumb to say "these guys barely won slams, so they're not legends and therefore the talent was lacking". Say ALL other things remained the same (the talent of all those players you mentioned in the 80s and 90s), except Sampras, Agassi, and Becker were even better and each won 30 slams. It would leave slim pickings for the rest of the group, and by your logic, you'd be forced to say that the rest of the players weren't "great". The Big 3 simply elevated their tennis to another level, in the likes that we've never seen before. Other players were still able to compete at times of course, but no one was able to maintain the consistency of quality and level, across all three surfaces for even close to what they did.

      @@raymondfan2402 I didn't write anything in my comment about disparaging the big 3. What I said was this; In the periods I mentioned, the number of classy tennis players was higher than today. This trio opened up a gap with their rivals because their rivals were not of the class I mentioned in that period. This is my personal opinion. Again, this would be a trio, but I say all three of them would not have 20 championships. Maybe if one or two of them had exceeded 20, I would not have made this comment, but I think it would be foolish to attribute the fact that 3 tennis players played in the same period and won 20 or more GS only to their class. Still, I respect your opinion. After all, it was a chance for us to watch these good tennis players.

    • @raymondfan2402
      @raymondfan2402 3 місяці тому

      @@sinyor1974 I know you're not disparaging the big 3. I think we both agree on the fact that the gap between the big 3 and the rest of their competition is bigger compared to the gap between the likes of Sampras, Agassi, and their competition. If that's all you are saying, then that's fair game. However, some of the claims you made make it seem like you think that the competition of the 80's and 90's were superior in skill to that of the competition of the Big 3, and that your justification for this is that the likes of Murray, Del Potro, Wawrinka, Thiem, etc don't have that many big titles to their name. My claim is that number of titles doesn't mean anything because the Big 3 were just so much better than the likes of Sampras and Agassi, that if you put the talent and game of these 3 back in the 80s and 90s in place of the players who dominated the most back then, they would have won just as much against the competition of those eras.

    Great match. I do like Musetti very much. I like better his previous hair style. Backward hat style to me is totally useless. I feel and understand that Nole's violin performance after Rune match. This time I don't think he has reason for it, but that's his decision.

    I can't believe what Novak is doing at the age of 37! He has FAR AND AWAY surpassed Murray, Federer, and Nadal. But...he's going to lose tomorrow to Alcaraz. Don't get me wrong, I really really really want him to win but he's not going to beat Carlos tomorrow. I say this because he just had surgery less than 30 days ago. That being said, he will get to #25 not this year but possibly the next. Meanwhile, Carlos will be 4-0 in GS finals.
