    Best ever soldering station but if you are not buying it for business or you will make profits out of it is better to think twice it costs in UK £4,436.00

    Does the solder blend really matter? And, if it does, how do we know what the manufacturer originally used?

      Different blends of solder will have different eutectic ranges. Basically the temperature window in which they reach melting temperatures. Certain blends of solder have a very small window of just a few degrees between solid and molten. Others have much larger windows.
      The blend of solder you will want to use will depend on the type of thermal mass you are dealing with. As for determining the original manufacturer specs, you'd need a very precise tip thermocouple and a very precise iron. Set it to the temps of the most common blends and see what the solder on the board begins to wet at.
