Oooh!!! What a great project!!! I love rusted tin cans AND primitives!!! The glitter looked spectacular on your ornaments. I need to start collecting/rusting cans! This year I made simple holiday gifts for my adult children. It was so much fun!!!! It reminded me of when I was a young gurl. Thanks for sharing!!!!
Hi Kathy thanks for watching and commenting. I so happy to have inspired you. I love working with the rusted tin cans they have been a really fun medium for me to work with. I made lots of Christmas decorations, some home decor items and even some earrings. Here is a link to the play list if you are interested in more of my tin can projects.ua-cam.com/play/PLrO021b6nBBSOvvTFMRX6RKTQVuDLVWl4.html Thanks again.
Hi I do try to file the points and corners but the pieces still need to be handled with some care. I have also used hot glitter glue around the edges on some of them.
I really like rusted metal art - and yours are not exception❣️ I see them adorning a festive Christmas wreath… Although, I’m not keen on glitter, mainly due to being environmentally unfriendly, and I’m a primitive art fan 🌞
There are plant-based glitters that are more eco-friendly! I can't remember the name of the company, but they were doing great work. It is a little pricey, though.
Geeat idea but After seein that mess with the rust I think I will try using cans not rusted.... I found out that rust is literally like a disease of metal that will keep eating into it if not treated. Besides you can paint a rusted look right. I do love how they look with the jute string. Very nice and would look great in the tree❤❤❤️
Thanks for watching. Yes the rusting is messy but the rusted cans are easier to work with. I have worked with the raw cans too and painted a faux rust look so you can do it that way. Thanks for watching 😊
Hi Hannah, The short answer is that the edges and the corners do remain sharp. By hammering the pieces the edges are less prone to snag and get caught on things. Sealing the pieces with mod podge also helps to smooth out the edges. If you want to make safe edges I would recommend adding hot glitter glue around all the edges.
Im doing something similar but my cans on the inside have like a rubber / plastic coating do u have any idea how to remove it? Iv tried acid, acetone, thiners and heatgun nothing works
Hi thanks for your question. I actually rust my tin cans before I use them for crafts. If you are wanting to keep the shiny finish this won't work for you but I like the finish once I paint and seal the metal. Here is how I prepare the cans for my craft projects. ua-cam.com/video/1pRlDt_fwYY/v-deo.html
Hi Parisa, I am sorry I don't have a great answer for you. Some of it is just luck. I found out about the show I am applying for through my sister. Of course you can start with a Google search and there may be some Facebook Groups that would have some leads for you. Thanks for watching.
I know that in my state (Wisconsin, USA), the state tourism board has a part of their website with a directory of art and craft shows. However, there are also Facebook groups dedicated to various parts of my state that showcase different kinds of shows. You might want to search for some combination of Vendor, Craft, or Art with Event, Fair, Show, etc. There are also sometimes various other events that look for vendors. Search for the phrase "Vendors wanted" or "Crafters wanted"
Thank you for showing the finished product at the beginning of the project. It helps me be able to understand what you’re doing better.
Thanks for the feedback and for watching this 🙂

Thanks for watching. I never really liked glitter either but for this project it was fun.

Those are so pretty, you know they would charge a hefty price if they were sold at Pier 1 or Home Goods type of stores. TFS
Thanks. Sometimes I look at them and think they are sort of abstract and cool and sometimes they remind me of a 3rd grade art project. 🙂
@@UpcycleDesignLab LOL All my projects anymore look like 3rd grade work.
@@UpcycleDesignLab That just makes them more valuable!
Great video!!! Just found you today. What type of paint are you using on the tin? Many thanks!!!
Hi Thanks for watching. I just used acrylic craft paint that I had on hand.
What do you do about the sharp edges where you've cut? x

hi, how do you flatten the can without leaving weird dents in it?
Hi thanks for your question. You can’t really get the metal totally flat but it doesn't really dent either.
