      @@MM-ns2jl that's not true. I did my Amazon flex and Airbnb tax just Yesterday, and yes i used mileage instead, (turbo tax).
      Based on the options i was given, it asked how many miles i drove for the job, i put it in there, and it gave me the option to use that or use my gas expenses etc, i input how much i spent on gas and other things ( always keep receipts), then i was advised to use mileage instead, because that gets me more deductions, which i did. Only did Amazon flex for 2 months last year, made a little over 6k, and total tax i paid was less than $300 yesterday, i put every expense in there :)

    $3700/month x 12 = $44,000 less Federal Income Tax ($3,521), less NY State Income Tax ($1,928), less EE Social Security Tax ($2,728), less ER Social Security Tax because you're an independent contractor ($2,728), less EE Medicare Tax ($638), less ER Medicare Tax because you're an independent contractor ($638), less State Disability Insurance Tax ($31.20), less NYC City Tax of 3% ($1320). You're clearing $31, 774 after taxes (about $15.50/hour) out of which you still have to pay your own child care expenses while you're on the road working, car payments if you have them, unexpected major car repairs, any increases in your car insurance because you're using your personal car for work, and you still have to pay for your own health insurance costs for you and your upcoming baby because you're an independent contractor. Sounds like you're clearing about $2 to $5/hour after all things are factored in...financially that's just NOT worth it, sorry!

    The nice part is that there are opportunities and not everyone is going to try for driving opportunities. Hence it is possible to earn a full time income,
    25% of all cars are 16 years and older
    25% of all cars are leased vehicles
    The average car is 12 years and older
    The rest are new cars with regular car loans.
    The average new leased vehicle payment is over $500 for just the monthly payment, not including full coverage insurance.
    The average full car payment is currently over $800 for new vehicles per inflation.
    Gasoline is over $5 per gallon, almost $6 depending on where in California your located.
    Most cars these days with proper maintenance will get over 200k miles. Hybrid cars will typically get 150k to over 300k before the hybrid battery dies. This is not too bad. A cargo van will bring in a lot more money when doing Courier services.
    It is nice to know that this medical courier opportunity exists and that it won’t really become super saturated with all of the upcoming layoffs from high tech companies. The medical industry is very very large and essentially there is a good amount of work available. For laid off workers and for everyone this opportunity is interesting. What I think is that it is just nice to know that work is available. Gig workers for companies like food delivery or rideshare have a fear that opportunities will shrink as the tech workers shift to do gig economy jobs to help pay bills. No one hates tech workers for doing what they need to do to support their families. It is just difficult for full time gig workers because they will have to work a lot more hours and tech workers who were ordering from these services will cut back as a result of job loss. Then tech workers will be out doing gig work. Everyone needs to do what they have to do to make ends meet. 👍 I just feel bad for America. I hope for better days ahead for everyone 👍
    Thank you very much for sharing you Medical Courier opportunity. Thank you 😊

    • @IsauraAbreu
      @IsauraAbreu  Рік тому +9

      That's right, jobs cannot be underestimated and it is very helpful to know that other opportunities exist. I never imagined that I could have a full time income as a Medical Courier, it's not an easy job I have to admit because driving long periods of time in different weather situations can be stressful, but in America today you have to do everything possible to survive and also have at least something extra to save in case of emergency. but it is possible only there to have a clear vision of what you want to achieve.

Honestly if medical courier isn’t paying $1 a mile your better off doing door dash or Uber IMO if you can. You will put way more miles on your car doing medical courier for the same pay.

      You are welcome! Depends of the routes you are given! For example the run that starts at 3am I only have like 5-6 stops which I finish at around 6:30am… and I take a second run also which starts at 10am after and I finish that one which is around 3-4 stops at around 11:45-12:00pm… so if you calculated the total active hours of driving is like 6-7 hours of active driving to de locations to drop off and pick up empties! The rest of the hours you do whatever you want …
