  • For decades residents of Marsabit and Moyale had a difficult time travelling to Nairobi. The treacherous road network meant that the journey would sometimes even take 3 days. However the North is no longer cut off by the bad road network after months of rehabilitation from Merille to the border point between Kenya and Moyale. Nimrod Taabu took a ride to the North that is now rising

      @@cookwithme6660 Northern Kenya leaders are the most corrupt. They stifle growth and development so they can keep residents under their control. However, the Oromia part of the North is waking up, and soon will catch up with the rest of Kenya. Marsabit in particular has shown immense progress.

      @@OsmanK699 Since I was young I knew that Oromia region of Ethiopia which is bordering Moyale town - just like the entirety Marsabit county - is extremely underdeveloped. 90% plus are illiterate, nomadic pastoralists, living in arid and semi arid deserts, and little to no government structures, schools, health centers, roads, the list is endless, etc.

How fast will the country develop if these people keep occupying office at the public expense? Why Rwanda is rising. In that small country, any leader entrusted with tax payer money is prosecuted & and jailed for life and won't get their jobs back

      Thanks kibaki and uhuru kenyatta, do you know now gikomba second hand cloths market is been sustained by sales to Ethiopia through moyale. We have opened moyale to all Kenyans.Kibaki was a genius. Once lapsset connects us fully to Ethiopia and south Sudan, we wont need Uganda and Tanzania

    The thing is: I commend this good work but we have to push for more. These guys are not being done to a favour, they are Kenyans deserving of the infrastructure.
    The same way you and I from Southern Kenya deserve.
    So I just wana say that connecting Mandera to 'Kenya' should be treated as an emergency...a road from Garissa through Wajir to Mandera should be more urgent than this BBI nonsense.
    And another road to connect between Isiolo town to Wajir.
    These are the things we have to push govt for, it is not a favour.

      Moi protected Kenya from alot of malicious external pressure from the West. You should be thankful. In Kenya unlike most other developing nations, most of the wealth is actually owned by Kenyans.

    Uhuru government did not had hand in this. It is only that the project was completed while he is in office. Money was budgeted and given in one batch during Kibaki regime. Give credit only where it is due.

    I think we should have had nusu mkate Government rule longer when I compare corruption was very small, killings were not there. I think Raila and Kibaki did a good job. Jubilee has nothing to account for no brains to think of Development.

    If the next government can think of building a water pipeline from the Tana Waters to these towns and countryside for Cattle keepers and the towns along the route this region will be more productive. Thanks Uhuru Kenyatta for taking our road infrastructure to anew scale, now we only need to do the feeder roads to the main highways to bitumen standards

    thank you all who comprehend the road was a kibaki project. uhuru has nothing in it as the project was a done deal btn kenya gvt and AfDB b4 noise makers were conceived, just like the SGR, isiolo airport, etc. hakukuwa na kelele. asante kibaki/ raila coalition.

      History..states that it was part of the Great North Road from Capetown za to Cairo Egypt..Haile selasi ..and Jomo Kenyatta agreed to each tarmac their own side..unfortunately ours took over 30 years to do. now its done..for that i give thanks. Ethiopia is a 100M population ..market the future feels bright

      90% of moyale town is actually inside Ethiopia. So most of these guys identify themselves as Ethiopians.

      Moyale is a border city..its on both sides..Kenya and Ethiopia side. Its critical for business and trade. However residents are treated as outsiders because its ethnically Cushitic, predominantly Muslim. Most people in Northern Kenya do not recieve adequate services.
      They were denied proper documents because they are pastoralists society and Ethnic look/language different from rest of Kenya.

      Kibaki also started after EU asked .... we got it from the Europeans.. kibaki turned the country into a cartel run nation.. and uhuru's decisions are influenced by the cartels... bure kabisa... we got this far only bcos Kenyan are hardworking and our economy is diversed.
